What a wonderful experience here. We had lunch here. The chips and guac was amazing! Ceviche, perfect. The shrimp fajitas, small portion but very tasty. We also had bottomless mimosas and shots of tequila. The service was fast! The vibe was chill. Nothing fancy. Just good food. Good drinks and great company. I'll definitely be back.

The Taco Tuesday deal is one you can't miss. 3 tacos and any flavor margarita for only $20. The food is super flavorful and filling. The drinks are pretty good and relatively strong. And the ambiance is super cozy, intentional, and eclectic. I really found a few nooks of art pieces that caught my eye and grounded me in the space. I'd recommend with a group, solo or one a date.

CHILAQUILES CON HUEVO & ADDED CARNITAS

First time in NY and Found this place through Yelp and decided to give them try. As you enter it's a super small area where they have menus and a small bar. The gentlemen informed us we can go downstairs for table sitting. You walk down narrow steps and it's another world! There's tables, chairs, a bar area and the kitchen. Very nice, love the decoration and service. We ordered enchiladas suizas de pollo, delicious and creamy. Would recommend. Chilaquiles con huevo and carnitas. Not spicy but good crunch and flavor. Jalapeño biscuit sandwich. Unfortunately this was our least favorite , the biscuit was dry. Didn't taste like jalapeño and everything inside was slipping out with every bite. Potatoes were really good. Well seasoned and crispy. Customer service was good too. Plates run about $18 .

Constant date night spot in my area. Good for a casual happy hour or for dinner on a busy night. We love that the menu is dynamic and allows for us to try different foods especially with me being a vegetarian.

Sometimes it is hard for me to put my feelings for chilaquiles into words - sometimes it is all I want to eat. I'm not sure I've ever before found a dish that single-handedly inspired me to explore a cuisine and culture that I had previously not paid much mind to. I consider myself something of an expert on the best chilaquiles in the city, and so was excited to try the option at The Calaveras, which is only on their weekend brunch menu. They only have chilaquiles verdes, which is my preferred option anyway - the tortillas were appropriately soft, and it came with all the appropriate garnishes. Overall a good option, although the flavor profile of the chilaquiles is a little more balanced at For All Things Good or La Chilaqueria.

The Calaveras' tacos are full of flavor thanks to the seasoned meats, toppings and salsas inside. I especially enjoyed the tacos al pastor, but the tacos arrachera were also delicious and worth ordering again. The sweet plantains were also tasty, but I'd recommend getting them without the cheese and salsa. I can't speak for the service of the restaurant since I ordered to-go, but my order was ready upon my arrival and I got in and out of the restaurant within 5 minutes.

This place was so cute and cozy! They had a special of 3 tacos with a margarita for $20. Totally worth it!! They didn't skimp on the meat for the tacos and the margarita was strong. I recommend coming to check it out. We came on a Wednesday and the service was quick and efficient

Great food and amazing drinks! Highly recommend the margaritas and we tried the esquites, the ceveche, the brisket and Carne asada tacos. I highly recommend all these The host is super friendly and we got seated immediately. They have outdoor and downstairs seating. I would definitely return when in the neighborhood. They offer a discount to pay in cash and our bill was around $70 which is a good price for all this food. They also have happy hour and lunch specials

I went to calaveras for the taco Tuesday special that they have (3 tacos + marg for $20). I got a margarita and the birria tacos. The deal is a steal - the birria tacos ($2 upcharge for birria) were very good and there is variety in the margs. Our server was friendly, attentive, and the food came out fairly quick. It's an underground eating area with music playing in the background. Overall, it's authentic Mexican which is rare and tastes good. I would come back again - especially during happy hour/taco Tuesday

This place is a neighborhood joint not far from me. I don't think it's very good but not bad. It was expensive for what it was.

We had our usual list of spots in Midtown East, but this time we wanted something a little different. We ultimately landed on Mexican, however even then there were several spots to chose from. One of my colleagues found CdM, and since we had nothing to lose we decided to check it out. In terms of physical space at CdM, there is very little; this is actually a walk-up spot hence it is solely a takeout restaurant. The menu is pretty straightforward - lots of Mexican staples with a good variety to choose from. The burrito bowl looked good so I decided to go with that - I was given choice of protein (I chose pastor) and types of beans (I chose black). The bowl was really good - all the ingredients tasted fresh and they were generous with the portion. They added sour cream to the top of the bowl and it came with a side of salsa verde which I thought was a nice touch. We also ordered some bags of tortilla chips to share - these were my favorite kind as they were semi-thick and super crunchy. Overall, I had a solid experience at Cinco de Mayo. It definitely hit the Mexican craving spot and I would have no qualms returning for another meal.

Also got guacamole and chips as a side - which was on the smaller side given the price. All in all it's a good lunch option in the city!

I had this place bookmarked for a while. Finally came for my birthday dinner. It was a rainy…read moreevening and I was hoping there'd be umbrella sleeves offered. I didn't see any but saw buckets for umbrellas. I opted not to leave it there since I didn't wanna forget or risk someone taking it. I took it upstairs with me. My friend had arrived and was seated. Apparently, they do offer sleeves because she got one. But the 3 people who were at the hostess booth failed to offer me one. The beautiful ambiance will get your attention immediately. It is a stunning space. The tableware was gorgeous as well. We waited for our last friend to arrive who was almost half an hour late before ordering (we thought she'd arrive sooner). Our server, Matias was gracious about it the whole time. What we ordered: Drinks: Passionfruit Margaritas & Mojito - we were happy with them. Tlayudas, Guacamole y Salsas - this was really good and a great option for the table to share. The homemade chips alone were excellent. Liked all the different dips. Guac could've used some cilantro and more acid/spice. Tán Ceviche - I loved this. Super fresh and great flavor. Could use a touch of acid. My entree was the Shrimp & Crab Enchiladas - This was pretty good. The sauce could've used some spice and some acid to cut through the richness. My friend ordered the Yellow Corn Soup as part of her meal and she did not like it. She said it was too sweet which I thought was strange. I tried a spoonful and I agreed with her. It needed a savory note and again, acid would've done wonders. Also, the crab was a bit fishy in this. She enjoyed her tamal though. I tried a touch of the sauce and it was delish. My other friend had the Quesabirria which she was also happy with. To sum up: Ambiance: 5/5 The space is undoubtedly gorgeous. Food: 4/5 Beautiful presentation on everything but each dish lacks an element or two to make it a home run. Staff: Wait staff 5/5. Downstairs staff (greeters/hostess) 4/5. Needs to be more on point like offering customers sleeves for umbrellas or pointing out the buckets to put them in. At some point through our entrees a group of 3 women were doing a 10-minute photo shoot by the stairway where our table was. Absolutely inappropriate behavior and a manager should've stopped it. Camera flashes all up in our faces while we're eating wasn't cool. Overall, still a great elevated Mexican cuisine option. The slight tweaks would make this a 5 star place for me. I'd return to try more things.

If you are someone who is looking at an aesthetic place, this is a top contender. Unfortunately, I would say this place is better looking than the food is good. The food was fine, appetizers were all fresh but lacked any real depth in flavor. I wasn't too thrilled with the bone marrow I had either (but the tortillas come in the cutest basket). Personally, if it wasn't for the drinks and the space, I cant say this place is worth it - you're not coming here for the food. Another little complaint I have is the women's restroom on the second floor - right by the door is a floor to ceiling mirror which I understand was included to make the space seem bigger, but my friends and I agreed that it is a little misleading - I kept wanting to walk into it thinking there was more space there and not wall. I would recommend maybe putting a decal on it to clearly show its mirror.
