It's a casual Mexican restaurant and the decor could use a refresh. Yet I was warmly greeted and that made up for it. I was seated in a comfortable booth. I was here for lunch while running errands and waiting for my dog to be groomed. Chips and salsa were promptly served. The chips weren't greasy, a plus, and the salsa was decent enough. I ordered chicken quesadillas with a side of guacamole. The guacamole was served before the meal (which was actually an appetizer) and the guacamole was delicious. The chicken quesadillas were served on a wooden board. The quesadillas were solid with a decent amount of shredded chicken and cheese. The guacamole added to the flavor. There was also pico de gallo and sour cream served on the side. Overall, I had a good meal and took home leftovers. The server was very nice and attentive. Based on the location, inside Toledo's only mall, you might expect DJB&G to be phoning it in. Surprisingly, the food here is actually quite good! That said, the service, and atmosphere aren't worth noting. If you're shopping at Franklin Park Mall, you're hungry, and not interested in fast food from the food court, this is a solid choice. read more

Im From California actually so it doesn't compare to cali Mexican food At all. I am in shock from just having had lunch at Don Juan's in Franklin Park Mall. It was, clearly, the worse dining experience my wife and I have had in 26 years of regularly dining out. Why, you might ask. Let me begin with the service. And not to be too long winded - we waited one hour and 20 minutes for our order, which included guacamole and bean dip, each of which could, and should have been served immediately. I had to track down our waiter to ask about the order, and it was another 15 minutes before it arrived. The portions, a taco salad, the aforementioned guacamole, and the bean dip all were smaller than previously. After finishing, we did not receive a bill. Yes, I had to go to the front to chase down a bill, just in time for the next shock- the prices went up dramatically (while portions went down): bean dip went from $3.95 to $8.00, for fewer badly prepared beans. So my bill's total was $12 higher, and smaller, for 4 items. Did the manager offer us any thing by way of apology. Yes, I received an "I'm sorry". Which felt pitifully insufficient, in this case. We would not return to Don Juan's Franklin Park if it were the only open restaurant in Toledo. read more

While at this location, I ordered a margarita that consisted of top shelf liquor. When I received my drink, a young woman that was sitting at the bar (I was in a booth), came over and told me that someone that made the drink tasted the drink using a straw. This person, in question, is a MANAGER with red hair. A day time woman manager with red hair. She argued and said she always does that with drinks that are made with top shelf liquor, but that is wrong in many ways. Not only is COVID running rampant, but she should trust that her drinks are made properly without possibly contaminating it. It is wrong and disgusting. Don't order the shrimp salad unless you love croutons. For $11 you get some shredded lettuce, 6 shrimp and a plate full of croutons. A sorry excuse for a salad. The large bowl of guacamole was good (except for the 2 big avocado pits) but I think they do that so you see it's fresh. Everyone else at the table had burritos and they said they were good. Great spot for a Mexican restaurant but not the greatest food or service. Our waiter had some serious attitude and was obviously not amused by my questions or requests. The guacamole was okay (fresh) but the rest of the food wasn't anything to get excited about. Not much flavor and I was a little disappointed when I ordered a taco and was given something that looked like they ran out to Taco Bell. The salsa was probably the one thing in the restaurant with some flavor. At least it was spicy which was nice. I was told this place has good margaritas so if you DO decide to give this place a try maybe order one so maybe you will be to drunk to notice the mediocre food. read more

Giving 3 stars since hubby liked his food. Took forever for the waitress to come to our table. There were major communication issues. From what I could understand, all of their regular margs contain orange juice which is a fad that I don't agree with. I asked for a marg without orange juice and waitress said "margarita flavor is in the orange juice". Whatever. First marg was so sour I made a face after each sip. After much negotiation, second one was pretty good although we waited way too long for service. I ordered the lobster quesadilla. I'm not sure what was in it. The staff here was so accommodating when we told them we were in a hurry. They worked hard to get us a table quickly, even though they were pretty busy. Our server, Sierra/Ciara? was very attentive. Food came out fast and portions were huge! My mom is allergic to chicken and we did not notice the Nachos Supreme had chicken on them prior to ordering. They quickly remade them with no questions. I ordered 3 combos 8, 18, and 28. They claim they called and got my voicemail - I don't have voicemail! And received no calls! Combo 28 on their Uber eats menu is chicken tenders - they say I have to take it up with Uber as they don't have a combo 28! Not only that but I revived to combo 8s and no combo 18. Out $38 dollars and have a cheeseburger that nobody is gonna eat and it looks like it's been sitting under a warmer for several hours. Beans are dried out and taste old. We have been at the FP location several times now. I agree with previous reviews that they had some kinks to work out as any new place would. Some of the servers do have limited English skills. but we just have a margarita and work around it. Our service and food has been good every time we've been there. That's why we keep going back. I've frequented the maumee location many times, so was glad to see one open up in Toledo. The food and the margaritas are both excellent, and the prices are fair. If I have any complaints, I agree with the previous reviewers that the service could be better. Our waitress was pleasant, although her English was limited...like her trips to check up on us. I didn't get a glass of water until after my food arrived. Hopefully service issues improve as the business grows. read more

Went there with my wife on a Thursday thinking it would be dead and I could avoid the "bad service" reviews. The place wasn't dead at all so I got worried. The service was actually attentive and dare I say kind, I'd give them 4 stars. The kitchen seemed behind and I got worried again maybe I'll give them 2.5 stars for speed. But I will say the food was good. Now I'm not always a food snob, I miss my Don Pablo chips and salsa and guess what! They are here in an identical form. My wife who lived in LA quite awhile (near the OJ neighborhood) liked the guacamole quite a bit. She also mentioned how good the portions were. She had a mushroom quesadilla and I had a fajita burrito. I added some hot sauce and they carry a decent list. So if you're in the for a (Don Pablo/Chi Chi's + a dash of authentic) I'd give this place a try. I really wanted to give the overall experience a 3.75 stars but not sure I can do that. read more

We stopped in for lunch after doing some Christmas shopping. The hostess was kinda rude and didn't seem to want to be bothered. The food was okay but it really isn't worth a second visit... but the bright side of the visit was we had the most amazing waitress, our drinks were full all of the time and she checked to see if we needed anything several times. Didn't even get to try the food here, walked out due to service. I have never walked out of a restaurant before. The hostess put the menus on our table and walked away before we even got there. I could get past that but we sat there for 10 min and no one helped us. At all. No drinks, no chips and salsa. Nothing! If they were busy I could understand. But there was hardly anyone in the place.
