A solid spot for tapas near the Seville Cathedral! We tried the seafood paella, squid ink paella, sheep's cheese and the Caesar salad. The standouts were the seafood paella and the Caesar salad. I really dug the light vinaigrette on the salad, with a slight bite from the red onions (I also realized that most Spanish restaurants add raw red onions to their salads!). We wiped this clean. The seafood paella was cooked al dente, with generous scallops, mussels, shrimp and calamari. We initially ordered a tapas of this and then ordered a portion because of how good it was. So we have not had the best luck in Spain when it comes to good food. After visiting the cathedral with tour group and wandering around a bit hey there is a Starbucks up the street cool since I am collecting cups for one of my sons back home. No luck with you are here cup oh well. Anyway we wonder in fearful as it is probably going to be overpriced and flavorless. What a great surprise! Our server was efficient and friendly! The hake with crispy duck although a tad dry was very good! Almost a light teriyaki sauce. Served with bread at beginning of meal. Tapa #2 deboned oxtail had a mild but rich beef type flavor with a few veggies we both liked but agreed the fish was better. We had our own water so we just drank that on to the next Tapas! This place was very good. Staff was efficient and friendly. There was a special menu for la navidad. Had a jamón and cheese plate which was great. The beef short rib was extremely tender. The cod tho was in a sauce that was too heavy and salty. The dessert was good especially the sugar spun on top! Really like this place although it is a little pricey. Perfect lunch. We had about given up on finding a good restaurant in the very touristy area of Sevilla and almost ended up at a 1.5 star restaurant next door. Thanks to Yelp, we moved to Don Juan and were not disappointed! Caesar salad - overdressed but delicious with chicken! You don't find much of that in Spain. Green salad with fried Brie cheese - we dressed this one ourselves, so it was perfect. Could have used some more cheese though. The greens were beautiful and fresh. Focaccia con jamon - this was amazing! Seasoned with rosemary, which I don't usually like, but I loved it!! Risotto with mushrooms - we had risotto last night that we thought would be the best ever. Our first meal in Sevilla. We arrived at around 3pm which wasn't the best due to a Monday and Siesta time. Our hotel recommended here and it's the best food we have had this trip! After visiting the Cathedral de Seville we stopped to have lunch at Don Juan de Alemanes. The restaurant is located right outside the exit of the cathedral. This place has a great selection of Tapas including some unique looking plates (Unique to me at least) that were more fancier than the Tapas I've had at that point during my trip to Spain. Our beverages were good at the tapas bar, but the service was sad. We wanted to try the vermouth on ice but the waiter tossed us a wine menu. We were at a 4 table, and with tapas the tabletop was being used. The waiter was clearly eager to turn the table, so he gestured to a foursome standing behind us to be patient, we'd be gone in 5 minutes... so he split the tables and pushed our tapas aside. We went out from the Cathedral, and I checked out Yelp for restaurant and found this one. VERY disappointed! Every single dish are extremely salty. Too salty as if bitter. And for the first time I had seafood paella without ANY seafood. Price is higher compared to the other restaurants we went to. And CHECK your bills carefully against the menu. They charged more than what is stated on the menu. I would recommend go to Calle San Fernando for food. read more

In the endless sea of cured meats that is the Spanish dining scene there is a beacon of lite (pun intended). - Don Juan - A wonderful Caesar salad and a chicken curry roll up made a delicious lunch that was a welcome change. But don't worry - they have cured meat, fried food, and all the typical dishes of Seville as well. Great tapas here! We tried a little bit of everything: fried Thai chicken, fettuccini, paella! The server however... Was inattentive and I almost thought he was ignoring us. We had a chocolate dessert here that was SO good. We came back 2 more times before we left because the quality of the tapas was that good. The absolute best place in spain that I've been too so far. They have a very nice seating atmosphere, AMAZING food, and such nice waiters, so sweet and accommodating! Our waiter Ricardo has been to the US so he knew a lot of English; he even helped us pick out our desserts which were all heavenly and homemade! Amazing! Right next to the Cathedral. Good paella. Loved the ensalada Russian (potato/egg salad with caviar on top). Stick with small dishes, decent size portions. HORRIBLE VEGAN CHOICE! Don't be fooled by the vegan menu. The dish I ordered was basically Pasta and readymade tomato sauce from the jar, though it said on the menu the sauce was supposed to be homemade. The food was really overpriced as well and we were charged for stale bread and olives we never ordered. All in all I felt really ripped off and would recommend all vegans to stay away. read more

Do you think you like tapas? Then look no further, right in front of the cathedral so you have instant ambiance. A plethora of tapas choices, specifically the octopus croquette and the squid ink paella were lovely. The focaccia was a little stale but that's my only complaint Service was good and the price was truly reasonable. We ate well, 5 or 6 tapas which we shared and a beer for a total of 32 euros. Fabulous, creative tapas...our favorite in Sevilla so far. Traditional (and excellent) dishes such as paella as well as stir fried noodles with veggies and a Moroccan pastela with honey...to die for! Surprisingly fair prices (by comparison) especially given that it sits next to the grand cathedral. Great service, does get crowded but is large and can handle large groups. Has indoor and outdoor seating and a cute bar. Fine for kids as well, we had our 3 yr old with us and there was a one yr old nearby, pretty loud, so the kids blend in. Enjoy! read more

The waiter was rude , he gave me the wrong dish, after I told him , it took him long time to bring me the dish I ordered , after all other members of my family finished their meals, I still didn't get what I ordered. This restaurant was recommended by our private tour guide, but it was pretty bad. My friend's daughter got the linguine from the kids menu but couldn't eat it. It tasted strange (my friend and I both tasted it). It was like it had gone bad or something. How do you make linguine with Parmesan cheese taste bad? We ordered a Caesar salad to share, and it came absolutely drenched in dressing, making it completely inedible. When we asked for less dressing we were told this is how Caesar said is served. Uh no. They refused to remove it from our bill despite our sending it back. Adding to this, the service was terrible (I really wanted to order a second sangria, since that was actually good, but no one ever came to help us until we were already disgusted with the food). And on top of everything else, the bathroom door, which we were of course seated near even though other tables were open, kept slamming shut the entire time. Really?
