The service was so bad and the food was so horrible that we didn't even eat and and they didn't even ask how I wanted my egg.

I didn't order them being drowned in queso & soggy icky goo! I ordered them fried & crispy as stated on the menu! Y'all just lost a loyal customer of many years that eats there at least once a week, as I won't be back after the way I was treated by management & them wanting to argue with me! So unprofessional!!!

The ambience of the restaurant was super cool and it had a bunch of fun murals everywhere as well as a themed bathroom. To start off most of us got Carne Asada tacos with a side of refried beans and rice. they were good and paired well with the chips and salsa. I decided to get the quesabirria tacos with a side of consomé and it was okay. It kind of tasted plain and didn't have as much teas in it as I would like as well as cilantro and onions. The consomé was good, but the actual birria meat of the taco tasted plain. It was nothing to write home about, especially since we come from Az. I'd definitely get something else if we came back but everybody else enjoyed their meals. It was definitely an okay Mexican spot, the service and ambiance of the restaurant make up for it.

There's a parking lot in this plaza, and we were seated immediately upon arrival. They offered complementary chips and dips (salsa and queso). We ordered additional guac. The chorizo queso is sooooo good! I ordered the birria taco plate and I'd say this is very authentic compared to food back home (California)! They were generous with the birria and the consome is chefs kiss!!! The staff did a wonderful job in assuring our needs were met and that we were satisfied. I hope this place is just renovating and hopefully will reopen in the foreseeable future. I would love to see this place continue to thrive!

Doing four stars for the food. I would do 3.5 for staff. :(…read more I loved the salsa (fresh and spicy) and the complementary queso like dip. I loved the shredded beef enchilada! Really good and would order again. Rice and beans were probably above average. My dining partner asked how the chile relleno was prepared. (He doesn't like the eggy batter.) We were literally told that it came premade and frozen and was "just fried." Obviously, he ordered the street tacos instead. We sat at the bar and it took a bit to get waited on but the manager jumped in and gave us water and silverware. I liked my Blackberry-Rosemary Marg but I honestly didn't feel like it had much tequila in it. The regular marg was just OK. Since it is a tequila bar and we sat at the bar, I would have liked to have discussed tequilas but my bad for not asking. Would have loved to have done a tasting. The menu was informative. I would go back when in south Tulsa. Not sure I would make it a destination. (Well, maybe. Those enchiladas were good! It is a cute place.

The dog had been in the car for eight hours, and we just needed to get out and stretch. He loves tacos (the dog) and we discreetly brought the dog in to sit next to me and enjoy some meat, lettuce and cheese. Unfortunately, he is not a voracious eater and makes more of a mess than he actually cleans up, and the ladies at the front counter had just swept the lobby and started to mop. When we left, I tried to sweep up as much taco parts as possible, but there were some things I just couldn't get with a napkin. I could see the disappointment on their face as they went back out to our area and swept the floor, again. They did not say anything to me, they were extremely sweet, extremely polite, and very professional. Well, I tried my best. I can tell that they take great pride in keeping a clean restaurant, and despite my ability to fully clean up, they went cheerfully and took care of things after me. Big shout out to these young workers they could have been extremely rude, they could have really given me a hard time. I am grateful for their hospitality. After such a long day. They have no idea how special that was to me. The food at this location was fantastic! Many of the taco Bueno stores in my area have been closed so it was a surprise to find a nice functioning restaurant on the turnpike. Thank you again for fresh food, wonderful hospitality and a quiet place to pull over for a quick meal. Again, I don't know who these folks were that were working, but it's ticket number 374, store 8041 and order number 370374. I am so so grateful.!!!

Spike's Inessential Scholarly Discourse: This is authentic Mexican food. So, don't go there. Everyone working in the restaurant is Hispanic, from the dishwasher to the owner. Their recipes for "their version of traditional Mexican food" didn't come from a Betty Crocker cook book. What is that white sauce served with the salsa and chips here? I have encountered the same at several other small-town Mexican restaurants. No, it is NOT queso. It has no cheese taste. Here is the best description I can come up with; have you ever opened a can of Campbell's cream of chicken soup. That is what this stuff looks like; concentrated cream of chicken soup. It is a thick gelatinous, semi translucent liquid. It tastes almost like cream of chicken concentrate. When I have run across it in other restaurants, I have been mistakenly calling it bad watery queso. It has no resemblance to queso other than color. It is most commonly served in these traditional style restaurants. It does nothing for the meal other than make you wonder what you are eating. What is it??? As I usually do, I asked for salsa picante. Pepino's was a very different version. It was a warm bowl of tomatoes, with onions and smokey jalapenos simmered to a thick chunky stew. Very little heat or spice. Disappointing. The relleno I had was authentic and traditional, a poblano filled with lightly seasoned ground beef cooked on the flat top in a puddle of egg, then rolled up with the egg like a blanket. I am not a big fan of this traditional style relleno. My meal also came with diced potatoes grilled with onions and green peppers. Different. The tamales my wife had were good. The beef was lightly seasoned. The tamales weren't just big logs of masa with a small amount of filling. There was plenty of beef in them. Conclusion. Pepino's is not recommended.
