    Empanadas and more

We came here to try some empanadas. The restaurant is located by 67th st in a small shopping center next to Rita's and Lil' Ceasers. When we walked in it wasn't to busy, so we grabbed a menu and sat down. The restaurant was clean with a few tables to sit at. They had cuban and latin foods. Columbian and Venezuelan empanadas, chicken and rice, plantains, arepas, croquetas, baked goods, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, and more. The staff was friendly but busy. I ordered a ham and cheese, shredded beef, and ground beef empanada, and ham croqueta which came to $16. The ground beef and shredded beef were good with the green sauce. The sauce was delicious by itself. The ham and cheese was really good to but it was mostly dough, not enough ham and cheese. The ham croqueta had good flavor. I ate them at room temperature, but i know they'd be even better hot!! If i visit Miami again I'd try more foods from here. Check them out.

    Plastic

There was a large piece of sharp pointy plastic in my sandwich. I bit into it and it hurt. I hope I didn't swallow any plastic.

Today, we stopped by Don Pan bakery in Miami Beach. We have driven by many times on our way to other places. This time, we stopped in and are so glad we did! This is such a cute bakery, well designed, and decorated. It is family owned for 25 years. You can dine in or take out. They have breakfast items, lunch, and parties. We chose to take home. The prices are reasonable also. We ordered a Ham and Cheese empanada, which was delicious! These are larger than the small ones given out by other bakeries. My daughter got the Beef empanada and enjoyed hers. We also got strawberry tarts and guava pastelitos for the weekend. There are so many items that look delicious. Parking is right in front of the bakery. It is located in a small strip mall on the north side. The owner was so pleasant and friendly. We will definitely go back again soon!

Everything our group of 5 ordered was good. Service was helpful and bilingual. Seating comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

Best local bakery in town with very delicious Venezuelan Cachitos in Miami Beach. They always make them fresh upon request! Great local breakfast, lunch or beach pastries snacks to take to the beach with you!

Ok, as promised, I've finally visited Don Pan in person and am updating my review. This place is great. Everything I've gotten from here is delicious. Just a great selection of yummy Venezuelan treats. The prices are what you would expect for the neighborhood. Most importantly, the people here are super friendly. Now that I live in North Beach again, Don Pan will be in my regular rotation.

Don pan is a good place for pastelitos, coffee, & a quick bite. Their cake game is decent too. I didn't care for the Cesar salad, but everything else I've tried from there is good. It's a decent chain in the Miami area. & I recommend this place for tourists who want to try local eats.

Worst ham and cheese cachito ever! Almost 5 dollar for a Cachito that was terrible! No ham no cheese on it!! It seems that the food was not fresh!

Unfortunately, I do have to say that the service at this location was subpar - the staff was not very friendly and extremely slow. The line just kept growing behind us and the staff just kept moving at the same pace. We waited a very very long time for our items and several people that ordered after us got their items before us. Fortunately, it was worth the wait. I ordered an arepa pabellon which was delicious and stayed hot until we walked across the street to sit on the beach and eat. My husband got an egg dish which he said was very tasty. Then we split a guava pastelito which was probably the best I've had to date. The perfect amount of crisp and flakiness, the perfect amount of rock sugar on top, just the right amount of gooey guava inside....it was delicious. We will definitely be going back (at least for the pastelitos that don't take so long to cook :) )

Love this local bakery for all my pastries, Venezuelan food for breakfast, lunch & cafe cravings! The service is always AAA+ especially from Klever. They also have daily specials & my favorite are the arepas and soups. Perfect place to get some food to go to the beach or after the beach.

The food is ok but BE CAREFUL WITH the service charges, if you add tips they will also add table service fee RIP OFF I asked the attendant why there were 2 TIP sections on my receipt, she said it was the table service PLUS the 15% I tipped, I tipped because I understand these jobs get paid mostly on tips, but they ALREADY ADD ANOTHER 15% for table service, that means they got 30% tip, you don't even give that much on a fancy seat down full service restaurant, and they trick you to do that here, absolutely disgusting. Not worth it!

Best empanada of my life. And great coffee. It's next to our hotel, and my husband didn't want Starbucks coffee, so gave this a try.

I was in the neighborhood to get a badly needed haircut while visiting from the Bay Area for work and next door on the corner on an otherwise unassuming street is this solid legit Cuban sammie and coffee place. Locals galore sitting outside sipping strong Cuban coffee and eating Sammie's and empanadas. Who am I to argue with the locals. They definitely steered me right on this one. The Cubano was stuffed with moist roasted pork and ham with pickles and melted cheese. The spicy garlicky green sauce that comes with it could make an old shoe delicious ! The coffee was spot on and that roasted pork and plantain empanada also hit the proverbial spot. All in with tax and tip for $25 I was stuffed full and now remarkably fluent in Spanish ! Esta bien Las Olas Cafe ! Muy muy deliciosa !

Located a couple of blocks off a major road (Washington Ave.), Las Olas Cafe felt like a hole-in-the wall neighborhood joint - a team of off-duty police officers were enjoying their dinner inside the restaurant, and families were eagerly lined up at the to-go window outside the restaurant. As I waited in line to order, I perused the menu, which included breakfast items, coffee, and a variety of sandwiches. Even though there were only a couple of customers ahead of me in line, each meal was made-to-order before the next order was taken. This meant that the staff prepared about half a dozen coffees, a couple of smoothies, and several meals before it was my turn to order. When I finally placed my order for a Cubano sandwich, I waited about 20 minutes for my food to be prepared. My sandwich was served piping hot, and I eagerly took my food to go so I could enjoy it at the beach nearby. Despite the wait (about an hour from the time I arrived at the cafe despite the short line), my food was delicious. The sandwich was stuffed with crispy shredded pork and ham, and a generous amount of mustard, melted cheese, and pickles pulled it all together.
