The sign says authentic and it's pretty damn close. It's always a good sign for me when I see people of the ethnicity of the type of food going in to eat. It's an old Waffle House so it's a bit noisy and gets very busy at lunch time. So far the meals we have had are good with no complaints. It does take a minute to get your food but that's a good thing in this case. If you are in area you have to try it but don't blink because you will pass it. read more

I've been here more than a few times and this has been my go to Mexican spot in Cobb County. I discovered this spot from a foodie friend and he was spot on. Parking spots are ample so no issue there. They have plenty of options to choose from like burrito, quesadillas and of course tacos. They just recently add birria to the menu so one day I'll have to try that. My go to menu is shrimp ceviche and a torta. The tacos are good too. Tiny but good. And the food is inexpensive. Service is good. Haven't had a bad experience. Perfection doesn't need to be complicated and when we're discussing food it all comes down to three elements - care, quality, consistency. The proprietors at Don Pedro's definitely care - the food they plate is always right and their menu is simple, but they do everything very well. Quality is also on display - nothing leaves that kitchen that isn't just right. We've never had to send anything back and the food is prepared with the most essential part of quality in mind - time! Last, but not least, is consistency. Their food is always reliably good and fresh. My recommendation, try the ceviche tostada. Ceviche is simple but it's not easy. The ingredients are simple, but the right combination and the timing make the difference between over cooked highly acidic food and delicious mouthwatering goodness. The carnitas are also a never regret option. Authentic is a word that gets over used, but in this case it applies. The al Pastor takes me back to my tine in Mexico City flavorwise. The only thing missing is the trompo on display, the sizzling sounds of rotating meat, the sweet smell of caramelized piña, and the attendant with the very sharp long knife thinly slicing pork right into fresh tortillas. read more

I'm giving two stars solely for the quantity of the food, and due the closest to authentic Mexican food This location has been my go-to since it's right by my work, but I've often experienced poor service from the cashiers. I'm not sure if it's a discrimination issue or if they just feel threatened by my presence, but yesterday was the last straw. When I walked in, there was no greeting. The young lady with glasses stood at the counter facing the cooks for a while before finally turning around to take my order. I overlooked her lack of hospitality and decided to eat in. When my number was called, she placed my plate on the counter without a tray. I had to ask for one, and it felt like a deliberate act of rudeness. This isn't the first time she's made me feel unwelcome. I'll be taking my business to the Gwinnett County location on Buford Highway from now on--their service is top-tier, and the food is always fresh. This place has been rock solid for authentic Mexican food for the last 5 years I've lived here. One of the few places that sell lengua - which is beef tongue tacos. You know the authenticity cause nobody else bothers selling lengua unless they're authentic. Since I've been coming here for the last five years the place has been upgrading and their prices haven't followed suit. They serve their community well and nearly everyone that comes here doesn't speak much English, (like I said, authentic). So delicious. It's so hard to find good mexican food, especially when you are literally mexican. It's so rare to find authentic mexican food but then i found this place and it's so good. Even tho it's like 30 mins away from me, I make the drive cause it's authentic and delicious. The workers are always nice. Tip: if you're at a mexican restaurant and you don't see hispanics eating there... it's not good then. If you see hispanics eating in there, it most likely means that the food is good and authentic. That's how I knew this place was going to be good, and I was right. Also, the horchata- it's so good. I think I make better horchata BUT, theirs is delicious. Wow, this was a surprise! Don Pedro's is in an old waffle house building. It is nothing to look at from the outside, or the inside for that matter. Lol. I ordered the Burrito Plate, which was choice of meat with rice and beans. The Burrito is coated with cheese on the outside, plus it came with sour cream and pickled vegetables ( jalapeños, onions, and carrots) and the inside had cilantro and onions mixed with the steak I chose. Taste: Outstanding! Portion was great too. Plenty to get filled on here! Ordered from the counter and plate was brought to the table when it was ready. The staff was very nice and friendly. If I could I would do zero stars, I went based on the reviews, there were a lot of people there. I am Mexican and was raised with GOOD Mexican food, this was rather disappointing. They all were yummy made with onion and cilantro even though we were offered to replace the onion and cilantro with lettuce and cheese, but I like them the authentic Mexican Way. My second visit was today, I actually brought my sisters and also my son, my sister and my son decided to get the hamburger combo which came with a cheeseburger, fries, and a fountain drink all for $5.50. My other sister decided to get a couple tacos and a sope, I dont think she cared for the sope that much and I decided on the steak quesadilla, it came with sour cream tomatoes guacamole and salsa lettuce tomatoes and jalapeños, in my opinion it was a lot of food for only $5.95. Don Pedro is an authentic, casual Mexican restaurant located inside Marietta's 120 loop, between Southern Poly and Marietta Square. For what it is, an affordable Mexican taqueria, this place is good. There's a reason why it's so busy at lunchtime. Don Pedro has other metro Atlanta locations in Gwinnett County. This Marietta location used to be a tiny Waffle House. Not much has changed to the building except for coloring and signage. They've also added a fountain drink machine and a small salsa bar. It's not the cleanest restaurant, but it's clean where it counts -- tables, seats, salsa bar. As a whole (look, feel, menu), it's quite similar to El Taco Veloz. The dining area has several booths, but the space feels cramped overall. There's not much space near the ordering counter, so when a line forms, the middle of the restaurant gets clogged up. Lines sometimes nearly go out the door. Behind the ordering counter is a large griddle, perhaps the same one Waffle House used. At lunch, cooks are feverishly working away and pumping out plate after plate. It's kind of fun to watch and you know your order is cooked fresh. My favorite items to get are the 99-cent tacos. They are delicious. In addition to tacos, Don Pedro sells burritos, quesadillas, caldo de res (Mexican beef soup), huevos rancheros (Mexican egg breakfast), menudo (Mexican tripe soup), chicken, enchiladas, fajitas, steak, flautas (taquitos), mojarra (grilled fish), and seafood tostadas. Most of these dishes come with sides (e.g. beans, rice, salad) and range in price from $5-10 each. Drinks consist of house-mixed horchata, juices, and Coke products from the fountain. At each table are a couple hot sauces, one of which is Valentina hot sauce. The salsa bar is appealing with 3 different kinds of salsa, from green to red, mild to spicy, lime wedges, and pickled slices of carrots, onion, and jalapeno. I love it. Best of all, the salsa bar items are fresh and plentiful. Taco meat choices include asada (beef), pollo (chicken), pastor (pork), lengua (tongue), cabeza (cheek), and barbacoa (BBQ). I've tried all 6 varieties. You can't go wrong with any of the selections. The meats and tortillas are cooked to order. The tacos are consistently good. The meats are tender and savory and the tortillas are appetizing as well. These are simple yet well-constructed tacos. Each taco comes with a double-layer flour tortilla shell. The shells are soft and freshly griddled. The meats are marinated and seasoned and are quite flavorful. Each taco also comes with chopped onion and cilantro, the true Mexican way. The tacos are small and I recommend 4-6 for a single meal. They can all fit onto one plate. If you're hungry, just order 6 tacos, one of each type. Service is speedy. I'm not sure if there's a credit card minimum. I've been able to pay as little as $4 with my credit card. Note there is a $0.10 charge for water. Overall, Don Pedro Marietta is convenient, tasty, and a solid value. read more

I have been going to Don P's since 2015 when I first moved here for university. It is a little shop on the side of the road that always has customers filling the parking lot & inside. When you come to Don P's you have to try to the carne asada tacos i always judge a taco place off these and get them with the cilantro and onions for more of an authentic taste! The meat i perfectly tender paired with the warmed corn tortilla and crunchy garnish. Don't forget to try their salsa bar and the pineapple juice as it's so light and refreshing. No extra fancy stuff here just a place with good food at a decent price. They recently remodeled and there is so much more space now, they really have upgraded the interior! read more

Don Pedro was another notch on the belt for my tour of authentic Mexican taquerias around town. I saw this place out driving one day and bookmarked it for a later visit. I think the layout of the restaurant is perfect in what looks to be an old waffle house. In typical taqueria fashion you can choose either tacos, sopes and even mulitas with your choice of meat. What drove me here was the mulitas which only a few places around town seem to have. They are basically mini quesadillas with cheese, choice of meat and a slice or two of fresh avocado. We ordered some tacos al pastor, tacos asada, mulitas carnitas and the shrimp tostada. Everything was delicious but the star of the show for me was the asada. A lot of times I find the asada to be tough and chewy and somewhat dry. The asada at Don Pedro's was perfectly grilled with a nice char and perfectly seasoned/marinated meat. I also highly recommend the tostada de camaron as it's perfect for a hot summer day and they don't skimp on the topping. Like Charles A. - this is a spot that I've driven by for YEARS - and in my search for an 'old school' quesadilla - I decided to stop in. We were getting take-away and my dinner buddy was not happy. He's a bit of food snob and he made idiotic cracks about getting a tetanus shot before handling the menu. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and he got the cheeseburger special (it comes with a burger, fries and a fountain drink for $5.50 - I think). My final thoughts - I should've gotten the friggin cheeseburger special. The quesadilla was around eight bucks and it wasn't very filling - and it wasn't crispy. When asked, the cashier told me the chicken quesadilla was 'big' (it was not - lol) and the Yelp pics must be old, because the one I received looked nothing like the crispy delicacy photographed by Karo K in 2015. It was very oily. It wasn't a bad quesadilla, it just wasn't a great quesadilla and not a good value for the portion size. My dinner buddy, on the other hand, loved his burger. He was teasing me and making all sorts of obnoxious lip-smacking sounds while eating it. After much sighing and eye-rolling on my part, he gave me a TINY bite - and I had to agree: it was pretty tasty. Lol. The place seemed clean - but very small - I would never opt to dine in because the tables are jammed too close together. The cashiers and cooks were all super friendly though (smiling and offering help with our choices). The cashier even told me if I didn't like my quesadilla, to bring it back. I politely brought it to the attention to lady at the cash register and she simply said "ok", no sorry not even an attempt to get me replace the soup with something else.
