Dr. Pegueros is an awesome optometrist. He is just simply the best. He has helped my whole family and myself. Many times I recently had to send him my glasses that were broken from Colorado within three or four days he had them back to me fixed! I went to two other Optometrists in Fremont before I finally found Dr. Pergueros. His service was so much superior to the others (which will remain nameless, but they were on Mowery and had several doctors there) To start with, he was the only to notice that I actually had a potentially serious condition, that my brother also has. That was fantastic all on its own. But there is so many other reasons why I am writing this review. I really thought he was extremely thorough and took his time to explain everything to me in detail. He showed me diagrams on what was happening with my eyes. And the steps I needed to take after that to guard my vision from further harm. He cared about making sure I understood. I did not get that from the two others I had been to before. I purchased my first pair of glasses from him that actually were perfect! The next year I returned for a check-up. There was a slight change in my prescription and I was ready to get another pair. But unfortunately, I didn't care for the selection he had. I found two pairs at a trendy place in Menlo Park that I loved, but I really did not love the service at this place and I really wanted to give Dr. Pegueros my business again. So I asked him if its possible that he could get these two pairs for me. Guess what?? HE COULD AND HE DID! I was originally going to decide between the two, and he actually brought them both in for me to try, and also in another color that I didn't see before. ANOTHER PLUS, was that his price on these frames was significantly less than the other store. So I was able to get both pairs. In closing, he is as good as they get. A true professional in every sense of the word. Trustworthy, and he knows his stuff. After going to two others before him, he was the only one that got my prescription correctly. I won't go to anyone else again. And if you see frames somewhere else, he can probably get them for you at a fraction of the price!!! read more

Been going here 9 years now. Love this place. Check to see if your insurance covers the new retina 3D imaging. They hold all the latest Nike eyewear. I was able to get Nike SB and Nike KDs. If they don't have it they will look it up and order them so you can try them on. I had a pair of Nike sunglasses they customized the color lenses for the mirror two toned look. I have nothing bad to say about the Doctor who seems very experienced and qualified at his field. However, I will warn any patient that is considering to visit this office about the delays in receiving prescription glasses. I am at week 5 now and still no conclusive answer on when my glasses will be ready for pick up. I ordered my glasses on 12/23/2021. At the time, I was told the shipment should take about 2 weeks (which is pretty standard). It has been now more than a month. No calls incoming from the office regarding the delays. Every time I call to check on the status I am given a new timeline. I also do not find the blame shift to the lab professional. I was told the optometry office sent the order couple days late when I initially called, so that to me sounds like a delay caused by the optometry and not the lab. If the lab was responsible for this delay, shouldn't the optometry have ways to track the orders and course correct the issue with the lab before it is escalated by the customer? At the end of the day, I have control over the optometrist I pick and not the lab. Any issue caused by the lab is the optometrists responsibility as it is the choice of his office. If the delays are really caused by the "lab", the office should take action and either fix the issue with the lab or move on to another partnership. I don't see why I should be spending my time placing various calls to get the status update for my delayed glasses order. read more

I was in search of a good eye Dr a couple years ago and posted something on Facebook. Almost everyone recommended Dr. Pegueros and so I made an appointment. When making my appointments, I request that they schedule my kids and I together. There is never a fuss or fight from the staff at all, they're always willing to work with my crazy schedule and even managed to see the 3 of us on a Saturday! Talk about awesome! My only recommendation, if contacts are on back order, just let the patient know with a quick call. I had to call to find out the status of my contacts & that's when they advised me of the back order. Over all, 5 stars! Still the best! read more

He came highly recommended by several friends who also had great experiences at his office. His staff is very friendly and experienced as well as flexible. Dr. Don Pegueros has been our family's optometrist for over 10 years. He did a great job fitting all of us who needed glasses or contacts including our teen daughters, myself, and my husband--including the fittings he needed after his first and then second cataract surgeries. I have been thrilled with his good service and his sensitivity to the specific needs of family members. It's most definitely not the generic mall approach nor the Kaiser approach. We have had two different optical insurance carriers over the years. His office staff has dealt properly with both carriers and all of our questions regarding insurance coverage. We have chosen to purchase all of our glasses from him as well (though he doesn't push one to do so) & have found the selection to be very good. I have particularly liked the high-end frames that he carries. And if one of us has any problem with breakage of a frame or glasses (which happened twice in our 10 years), he has been more than reasonable in dealing with the problem. Great office! Kid friendly, too. My child and I are both patients. Dr. Pegueros takes his time to answer all your questions and explain things. The office staff is also very helpful. The appointment does not feel rushed. The office's frames selection seemed a bit small, but they let me look through catalogs to find some other styles I might like. They ordered several pairs of frames, so that I could come in a few days later and try them out, with no obligation. Very cool! Dr. Pegueros is awesome! I found him because I had seen numerous ads about "Hubble Contacts" and I found his office as one that provides them. I was used to always going to Costco but since I have good benefits now I figured it was time to move on. Dr. Pegueros has an awesome energy and makes the appointment an enjoyable experience. I especially like that they don't use that machine that blows air in to you eye!! Anyways, he went above and beyond when I ran out of contacts and needed my Rx ASAP! We recently moved to Fremont (well actually a couple of years ago) and finally decided to find an eye doctor here. I went to Dr Don on my wife's suggestion and it turned out to be a good decision. I was able to get an appointment within 2 days time and that too late afternoon, so I didn't have to come back from work in the middle of the day. Furthermore, the front desk was kind and gave me the right info when asked. I had waited barely 5 min after filling out the forms, that doctor called me in. The overall procedure was standard, with courtesy maintained throughout. The assistants were easy to talk to and didn't mind small talk in between procedures. Dr. Don himself was awesome. His mannerisms were very respectful as well as he was really patients with all the Qs I threw at him. Some of the Qs were more theoretical than pertinent to my visit / state of eyes, but he was patient and responded to all of them. Lastly, the 5 STAR worth of behavior came at the end... when I was not forced to buy frame /lenses. This was probably my first visit in US where I was not cajoled or pressured to order glasses on the spot. Overall, I think I have found my eye doctor and will recommend him to friends and family in a heartbeat. read more

About two weeks ago when we were having gusty winds I was talking to a client outdoors and had to make eye contact while going over a job. I had my face towards the wind. All of a sudden I got something in my eye. I was in pain and thought it was a stone that just wouldn't come out. I washed the eye and nothing. This was on a Saturday. I decided to just wait it out and take the pain. I am not a fan of painkillers. Had to keep my eyes closed and waited to see if it got better. I was temped to go to ER but decided to see a specialist instead on Monday given I skip insurance lol. Sunday was a long day and one I would like to forget. The eye was bright red, strong pain and I was getting this pain all the way in my forehead. On Monday with eye half open I turned to yelp to find an eye specialist. This wasn't easy because I am extremely picky. I have many friends that are doctors but I don't trust their recommendations. I called about 10 different places and after asking a few questions I decided on one but they didn't have anything until Tuesday. Something about the Dr. not working Mondays. They said that if I needed something that fast and trustworthy to call Dr. Pegueros. I called right away and they took me right away to have me checked out. Turns out that I had an injury in my cornea and an infection was forming. Fortunately, Dr. Pegueros helped me to prevent further infection and did a phenomenal job at preventing a scar in my eye. My eye is perfect now, like it never even happened. Thank you Dr. Pegueros. I had been procrastinating finding an eye Dr. for my parents and my sister. I was afraid of that whole process of finding the right Dr. Looks like I found my eye Dr. I already had my dad checked up by Dr. Pegueros and he will be getting some nice glasses. We are not a fan of regular glasses so we got some that look like they were picked out of Bloomingdales. They have a great selection of frames. Highly recommend Dr. Don Pegueros. read more

I had visited a few before stumbling upon Dr Pegueros' office (that is conveniently located close to my own neighborhood). I was pleasantly surprised to find a local office that has a great selection of high end frames and phenomenal front office staff to boot. Dr Pegueros is friendly, very patient with my kids and works hard to make sure you have a proper prescription. Their front office staff is pleasant, communicative of my order status and very accommodating when I need to pickup and fit my glasses. My glasses are always finished ahead of my expectations. The office staff is dense. I called to check if I could get my son a new contact lens prescription because the one I had expired or if he needed an appointment to be seen for a new rx. The office told me that I could stop by and pick up the prescription slip. I rush there after work on a Friday prescription slip has EXPIRED written on it. Why would I go pick up a rx slip with EXPIRED on it if I needed to get him more contact lenses? They tell me he needs to be seen for a new one. Well, a phone call telling me that would have saved me the trip and frustration. Simple communication could have kept us as patients. read more

This Optometrist office is AAAaaamaazing... No wonder they have five stars. I've been going here for a year now and Dr. Don Pegueros is so nice! I've never met a doctor that was on top of everything. He answers your questions quick and gets your appointments done fast. He's very friendly and loves to converse about anything and everything. You can definitely tell he knows what he's doing. He's also awesome for giving me samples too! The wait for an appointment here is not long at all. Since I've been going here the longest I've waited was about 5-10 minutes. However, it may also depend on how busy they really are at the time of your appointment. All the assistants here are also very friendly, Kimberlyn is great she is very helpful, she helped me pick out my new eye glasses. I had different options to pick from and she gave me honest opinions about each one. In the end we decided on these really cute FENDI eyeglasses. I also had my really torn out Juicy Couture eye glass case and she gave me a new one for free which is awesome! Also, when I was completely out of contacts they were willing to take me in that same day for an appointment. This is great because not a lot of Doctor Offices will do that. The only con about this place was when ordering glasses it takes about ten business days. However, I am assuming that's how it is in every optometrist office. The great part is when ordering contacts it is a lot faster I believe it was about three days. Anyways, to sum it all up I am going to continue being a patient here because I don't believe I will find a better place and it's only five minutes away from my house! Let me tell you a story. Dr. Raul Pegueros was my eye doctor for many years as a kid, I did not need glass. After I grew up I moved on. Fast forward to wearing glasses and two others in my family and my current doctor informing me that he no longer accepted our insurance. I had to find a new doctor and I looked up Raul and I find that Don had taken over the practice. On the first visit I realized I would be here a long time. The staff is great and Don is an amazing professional. The family loves him and he goes beyond the call to help.
