The meat(s) and rice tasted weird.. meats were too finely minced (and dry) and the rice was dry as well (coz old!). The Greek salad didn't taste fresh either. All stale. I'm from the USA and knew that I needed to try Donair while in Canada. I wasn't disappointed. I had the original Donair wrap and fries that were spiced to perfection. Driving back from the mountains after a long day of hiking, construction on Highway #1 saw us detour onto the the 1A. Spirits were low, muscles were sore, and stomachs were empty. We had been told about this donair place on the opposite side of Calgary, but after nearly an hour of reading reviews, looking at photos, and drooling over the menu, we realized that, alas, it would be closed before we could make it there. This was rock bottom. Then, through a cloud of agony and despair, we realized that Cochrane may, just may, have something to offer. Turning to google we did a quick search and saw that Donair On The Run not only existed, but seemed to be well liked. Easy enough to find, we made it to the front door..... and this is where we embarked on what one could only call a spiritual experience. It made me believe in food again. Originating from Berlin I grew up with 'Doner Kebap' and must say this is the first time I actually had one in Canada. The ones I know were being served in a 'Fladenbrot' (https://derbrotdoc.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/barb3.jpg) which is different than the pita bread they use here. Okay... I went to Cochrane High School and religiously walked to "Donair on the Run" every Friday. I became friends with the owner, which I think made the experience all that more special. THE DONAIRS ARE AMAZING!! Mediterranean goodness with a Western flair. 'You want cheese on that?' .. No question really ;) Although I haven't had the opportunity to visit this place recently, I am giving Donair on the Run 5 stars because of the great memories and food I have had there. You can show me a quality Donair with classic fillings, but it will never taste as good as one from here. They also have a variety of other foods; Greek Salads, Fries, Falafel.. Pretty much anything you can think of! I suggest trying the "Donair Pizza" with your own twist of taste, much worth the indulgence! Do yourself a favor! Went to Cochrane for a drive and looked for lunch options. This was a pretty non-descript storefront but kind of neat inside with windows along the front and the counter along the back. Some cool art on the walls. Being from the east coast and having lived in Halifax, aka donair capital of Canada, I was DELIGHTED to see an east coast style donair. Not at all Mediterranean style, but 100% the way straight to my heart. East coast style is donair meat, chopped onions, tomatoes and garlic donair sauce. Simple and so tasty, and nostalgic for many east coasters I'm sure. I do love a traditional Mediterranean donair but this was a nice deviation, and I would go back solely for that option. read more

Went here yesterday, and it was perfect as always! I always place rather large orders as we have a large family, and the order is always made lightning fast. All of the ingredients are fresh, including the the most amazing thing there next to the donair's and pita pizza's, the Tabbouleh! The service is not only fast and perfect, but friendly as can be. No matter the size of your order they treat you as a priority, and make sure that you leave happy. It is a small place with limited seating, but it's more of a grab and go place that makes your food to order. It is also very clean, cleanliness is important to me. If you are going to come out to Cochrane for an ice cream cone like so many do, make sure you leave a little earlier and have something from "Donair On The Run" first. Super food, the best service I've ever experienced and a stomach so full you'll feel like you've had a 9 course meal. (The fries are a great add on - try them IN your Donair.) The reviews don't lie! Well priced food, amazing staff, and since moving into a new building, the atmosphere has increased as well. I have always had amazing food here and LOVE the variety of meats they serve. I totally recommend the HOMEMADE tzatziki sauce. I WISH I could take home tubs of it! Donair On The Run is such a great local gem. The new location and Reno's are simply fantastic. The atmosphere and cleanliness are top notch. There is even a small kids play area that was a lifesaver for a hungry mom ( my daughter ) who actually had a few minutes to herself to scarf down her delicious Donair before my granddaughter got bored ( as toddlers do ). Beef Donair is fantastic and perfectly spiced, made to order fresh every time. I order mine with sweet sauce and garlic sauce ( highly recommended this sauce combo). Fries are seasoned nicely and a huge hit with all of us . Location is great and lots of parking behind the building . The only downfall was ,my pitas have not been as supple and soft as I like . I would give them a 4.5 if possible due to that small factor. Nice place , great food , fantastic staff and the ladies room was super clean too. read more
