In 2014 I had surgery that catapulted me into several years of weight loss, losing altogether around 150lbs. Getting healthier and being able to move around was such a relief, but I still had all of this extra skin around my stomach and my breasts were almost down to my belly button. Today, I had a mild and safe skin resurfacing laser treatment with no down time called Clear & Brilliant with Dr. Mowlds. I've had two previous treatments at their office with their dermatologist, Dr. Kappel and decided to do my third treatment with Dr. Mowlds since Dr. Kappel was overbooked the day I had my appointment. I was initially a little nervous about having this treatment with Dr. Mowlds since my previous two treatments went really well with Dr. Kappel, and I wanted to make sure my results were equally as good as the past. I have only one word to describe my results with Dr. Mowlds after the treatment "WOW". I'm sooo happy that I decided to have my third treatment with a man vs. a women. I absolutely loved Dr. Mowlds man's approach to this laser treatment. He was a lot aggressive with the procedure and cranked up the setting so that I would get more effective and optimal results. The previous two treatments were done on a mild setting, since Dr. Kappel was afraid, I wouldn't be able to tolerate the slight discomfort that came with the treatment even though, I got numbed with Lidocaine cream for an hour. Dr. Mowlds reassured me that I would be okay and I completely trusted him. I'm sooo happy that Dr. Mowlds was aggressive with my treatment, because I got better results this time around and the effects were longer lasting too. I got far more compliments on my skin by my family members and friends than I did the past two times. Granted, I was a lot more red after the treatment, but it was totally manageable. Most of the redness subsided by that night and I used my normal facial regime / skincare routine without any problems whatsoever. On the third day after the treatment with Dr. Mowlds, I immediately noticed a more even skin tone, the texture of my skin looked really smooth and flawless and my fine lines and wrinkles were less visible. Even my pores looked minimally smaller and my brown spots and freckles were lightened too. When I decided I wanted liposuction, I scheduled a consultation, where we went over pricing and took before photos. I picked my surgery date within a couple of weeks. The actual surgery was very easy. All of the staff at the Newport Surgery Center were friendly and helpful. They got me situated in a comfy heated bed, and then I met with Dr. Mowlds one more time before being wheeled into the OR. I know, I hate long reviews too. But you have to know the whole story to understand. There are not enough words to explain how amazing my experience was with Dr. Mowlds and his office staff. Yesterday, I was scheduled to see Nurse Sarah for a consult for the dark circles under my eyes (which is the biggest insecurity I have). She gave me my options and let me know that there is a risk to get filler under my eyes given my skin tone and pigment, which is not what I wanted to hear. She then asked if I had some extra time because she really wanted me to see the doctor and see what he thought. She left the room and the tears started flowing. She then came back in the room and told me that he would see me, mind you I didn't have an appointment and they are booked out for months! He was beyond kind and just sat there with me as if we were two friends having coffee. He talked me through my options, which were the same as Sarah. He was so honest, informative and patient. I ended up getting filler under my eyes but he explained that he would go very slowly in the process and not just inject me with a bunch of syringes. He did one to first see how my skin would react and how it would hold up under my eyes. Its day two and they already are starting to look a little better. In May of this year, I had breast reconstructive surgery with Dr. Mowlds. In order to understand how amazing he is, I want to give you a brief overview of how I found myself in Dr. Mowlds' office. Over the past 3 years, I have had two previous surgeries by a surgeon in South Florida. Both times, after 4-5 months, I found myself having major issues including one breast moving up and one breast falling down. At the time, I was 21 and 22 years old so you can imagine how emotional and traumatic this was. Each time I had to wait months while my breasts continued to move in different directions and worsen. After this happened the 2nd time, my parents insisted on bringing me to California for a consultation with Dr. Mowlds. He was professional, confident, calming and reassuring that we could fix this once and for all for me. Today, 5 months later, I can barely talk about this without crying from once again feeling amazing and confident in shirts and bathing suits. Dr. Mowlds did an unbelievable job with a very complex surgery. The after-care was unlike anything I had experienced in the past. The entire surgical team and Dani in the office went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable, informed and progressing positively.
