My friend has always posted pictures of this place and has told me about it over and over. So finally while out on a mini photoshoot and got away from Louisville. I gave this place a try!! I really wanted to dine in so i could take more pictures however that was not happening. Order a large cheese pizza and a drink and took it to go. The service was amazing. Gave me a whole of attention laughter and felt like we i was really appreciated. All payments were offered. Swipe was to our disposal so contactless payment. The had a wide selection of different toppings. Okay so here's the thing... at one time, Donatos was one of my FAV places for both pizzas and subs. And I've put in more "research" in this area than I care to admit. But alas, not any more. At least not in Lexington at this location. You see, I have to get delivery to my office for lunch, and at one time, Donatos on Main was my go to place. However, first they started telling me every time I called that delivery would be well over an hour. They would say that as soon as I told them my phone number. It sounded like they wanted me to say -- okay never mind. And after being told this over and over, I did just say never mind. And so I didn't call for Donato's at work for several months. When I finally did call again, I was delighted to find a day when the delivery time was more reasonable. However, my delight did not last long. The baked ham sub - my go to sandwich -- the one that looked so good that the delivery guy who saw me eating it one day decided to stop off at Donatos and get him one as well -- that sandwich --- oh my what have you done, Donato's Main Street. Where do I start? First, the bread -- gone is the crunch outside yet soft inside homemade type hoagie bun -- what's offered now is little more than a hot dog bun on steroids. And can we talk cheese? Or better yet- the lack thereof. You can't even see the cheese on this sandwich any longer. The ham is almost adequate and tastes good but can't save this mess by itself. So as the Great Eddie Mercury said - "Another one Bites the Dust- and another one down". This is NOT the Donato's sandwich that I remember from when I lived in Columbus Ohio. It's not even the sandwich I ordered just a few months ago. It can barely call itself a sandwich- let alone a "baked sub"-- the only thing I can say about this so called sub of late-- is that it is SUB PAR. read more

Every single employee is on their cell phone. We were barely greeted. No signs up telling us we had to order up front, no menus out. As we sat in the booth clearly unknowing how things worked, we watched one employee finish her text message at the front counter and the she went to the back. Another lady walked out from behind the counter to place a note on the bathroom door, she ignored us in the dining room. The third in the kitchen, sat with his back to us , his ear phones on his ear; I had to shout "hey you, yeah you" at the counter to get his attention. Everyone had their backs to the dining room. The pizza was so fresh so delicious I can't put into words how great this whole experience was! My delivery guy was John he was so sweet such a gentleman brought lots of plates parm packets pure pleasure! My son loves this place and it's the only pizza he will eat. As a result, we get stuck with it a lot. It's overpriced and they screw up our orders all the time. As pizza goes, it's not that great. Papa John's does a waay better job for less $$$$. There's some stupid glitch on their website where if you don't order dressing for your salad or sauce for your chicken, you're entire order won't go through. It just keeps asking you the same question over and over again, even if you click on the no sauce option. It's been like two years and it's still not fixed. That's pretty consistent with what we've come to expect from them. They send out these useless coupons that have some crazy stipulation or just flat out don't work. EVERYTHING on the menu is overpriced. You will overpay for diet soda. It's just absurd. Wish we had never introduced our son to this pizza. Yeah, I know. He's spoiled. I ordered a medium pepperoni and mushroom pizza. It was ready within 15 minutes and cost less than $14.00. There were plenty of toppings and the crust is cracker thin. They cut the pie in very tiny pieces which actually made it easier to eat, less of a mess. I was pleased with this place, similar to Dominos but much better. read more

If you're anything like me--that is, you're not from Ohio--then you probably haven't heard of Donatos. It's a chain, and the Wikipedia page says they have about 200 stores in the US. Yeah... It's a chain. But Donatos is a chain that hasn't quite gone national. And that not only makes them Yelp-worthy, it means that they aren't big enough to serve you crap food and get away with the high-volume, low quality game. The flavor of the pizza lies somewhere between Dominos thin crust and Pizza Hut. What really surprised me about them was their 150 pepperoni pizza. It's got 150 pepperoni on it, but they are crunchy and like crack. If you like crispy pepperoni, then get the 150. The mariachi chicken pizza was also excellent. It had an edge of spice to it, due to the jalapenos. But it was flavorful--the chicken, tomatoes and crunchy crust make this premium pizza pretty unique. It's rare for mainstream pizza to have this much flavor. From the two different types of pizza, I must say that the crust was surprisingly good. It's thin, but not quite cracker-like. Since a friend ordered, I only caught that the prices are moderate. But, you're getting higher quality pizza than you would from the national chains. It's worth a go, if you've grown tired of Papa John's, Pizza Hut and Dominoes--just don't expect gourmet. read more

We arrived in Lexington at 10 pm on NYE and were not sure we would be able to get anything to eat. Donatos to the rescue!! Open til 11 pm and a block from our hotel, our family ordered the individual Margherita Pizza, the Big Don sub, the Cheddar Baco sub and an order of wings and an order of the Asiago Cheese Bread. I personally had the Margherita which was the perfect size for one, thin crusted and really delicious. Those who ordered subs were pleased with their order. Daughter said the wings had the perfect amount of sauce. Understand the wings could have been ordered extra crispy. Will try that next time. Haven't been to a Donatos since moving from Ohio 10 years ago. Glad we stopped after the baseball game on the way back to the hotel. I have ordered pizza from this location a few times. The pizza is almost always very delicious and the delivery was fast. However, I recently ordered a pizza for delivery from this location and when the pizza arrived, it was cold and a piece was missing! One of the employees literally took a slice of our pizza!! Good luck getting a pie from this location, ordered online over three months ago and never got the order. When I called I was put on hold for over 30 min before I just cancelled. Tried again last night and same thing, never arrived. When I called this time, I asked to speak to the manager. A very rude young lady responded to my frustration by saying, "What do you want? I SAID WE WOULD DELIVER IT!" Hoping I would get some sort of discount for my wait she denied any and blamed "the computer." I said I would like to cancel the order and she promptly replied "Merry Christmas," and hung up on me. Unbelievable... What is less than 1 star? I hope other donatos are not this bad (Main Street). Our order has come wrong the last 4 or 5 times. I do not know who the manager is but they must have their head up their ass. The delivery person was surprised when I did not want it or would not wait another 30 to 45 min. for a chance that they may get it right. The driver had the nerve to tell me he had given the order to the cook himself. He looked put off by me telling him I would only take it if it were free, like I was in the wrong. I take many medications that require food to be eaten to digest them correctly. I could not wait on them to get it right. Do not order a pepperoni pizza, they come with puddles of grease that require to be poured or blotted off. Why not check them before they leave? I am also sending this to our neighbor hood blog which should get to 400 to 500 houses tonight. This will also tell me if you are honest in posting your reviews. We ordered a pizza at 5:55pm. It said that it would take 29 minutes to be delivered. We called after an hour and told them we still have no recieved our pizza and they said the delivery man was out with our pizza. We called again and they once again told us that they take out 6-7 pizzas at a time and they would be here. Its now 7:30 and still no pizza. read more

This week, my colleagues decided to order pizza for lunch to celebrate my birthday. We completed an online order at 10:45 requesting it to be delivered at 12:00 for out 12:15 lunch time. At 12:20 it hadn't arrived so we called the store and they said "It should be there any minute." We waited ten more minutes and called, and they said it was on the way, but my colleague requested a refund because of the 30 minute wait time. We waited another ten minutes, called back and were informed that the pizza had never left the store, and that when the refund was requested they threw the pizza away. As teachers, we could not leave the school to pick up lunch, and our short 25 minute lunch was over anyway. Our school's cafeteria had closed by this point, so we called Dominos and ordered a pizza for recess time (which was two hours later), and it arrived promptly.
