My mom and I got there 6:20, 10 minutes before our reservation at 6:30 and we were seated after our reservation time. We were given our menus and bread. No one checked up on us for over 20 minutes to even ask what we wanted to drink. I went to stand at the host stand to ask who our server was and was completely ignored as 2 other groups got seated. Once someone did acknowledge that I was there they went to the back and didn't come back to tell me who my server was. Keep in mind it's been 30 minutes since we've gotten there and no one has even asked what I've wanted to drink. We meet our server and put our drink and food orders in keep in mind I asked for extra lemon. We were never offered drink refills the whole time we were at the restaurant. I get my food and I ordered the chicken franchise, the dish tasted of no lemon at all and the sauce was so loose they might have as well poured water on it and called it sauce. What was supposed to be paillards looked like 3 tenders and the egg wash and dredge was practically all off my chicken. When I commented on these things the waitress said she could have the kitchen add more lemon which would not solve all the other issues with the meal. I asked several questions such as is this the right dish or has this recently changed and she went back to the kitchen and never answered any of my questions. I proceeded to get nothing else after I'd been disregarded, ignored, and disrespected throughout my time at the establishment. They also messed up my mom's steak giving her a medium well done steak that was cold. I am deeply upset with not only the food but how I was treated by the staff. read more

We visited from out of town and were recommended by family to try Donavitos. The staff was friendly and attentive to our large group. We had a set menu because of the size of our party that included a crisp salad with a tangy dressing. Next we had rigatoni and chicken Parmesan that filled our bellies. We had my daughter's bridal shower here, this past Saturday. The food was delicious and so beautifully displayed for our guests. Food was so good the first time, we came back again for dinner. On this visit, we started out with an appetizer of fried Calamari. It was delicious... lightly dipped in batter and delicately fried. Not over cooked. It was just right. For dinner, my wife got an order of ribs which she loved, and I got the fried Walleye. My dish was cooked perfectly; it was dusted with flour and appeared to be pan fried. The fish was tender and flaky. A generous serving! The young man who served us did a great job. We went New Year's Eve for dinner & I honestly feel like they owe me $70 lol the food was awful. I got a filet mignon medium with mashed potato's and I got a strip steak that was cut in half cooked GRAY and risotto? $30 dish of crap. My fiancé got "ramen" and it was supposed to have filet in it but it was the other half of the gray strip steak on top of a clump of noodles...ramen is soup...it was not soup at all. My daughter got spaghetti and meatballs and those were fine thank god. The service was bad too but idk I felt bad for the server for some reason. She didn't cook the garbage food. But she forgot or messed up half of everything. Still tipped 20% because times are hard.So we had bread and drinks and left. Another thing why wasn't there soup or salad with the entrees? Visited on Saturday night during Italian Fest so I imagine the crowd was thinner than usual but they were still pretty busy. We started with greens that were on par with other places in the area but nothing special. My husband got the loaded cavatelli and I had "Seafood and Pink". His was the expected cavatelli with meatballs, fried mozzarella and garlic toast. Definitely enough for two meals. He said the sauce was ok but not as sweet as we prefer but like the greens, comparable for the Valley. My dish was shrimp and scallops with cheese tortellini and their signature pink sauce. Loved the sauce! My shrimp and scallops were nicely cooked and I got enough tortellini for 3 meals. Not sure why we waited so long to come here, we will be back to try some of the other things that looked good. read more

Our senior guest ordered a Prime rib and requested an end cut. No food came for him and 20 min later he was delivered a rib eye steak. Not what he ordered and 20 min after all at the table were served. He asked what happened to his prime rib he was told that is prime rib. No it was not. It was a steak grilled on both sides. At the end of the meal he complained again as he was trying to be nice but was as un happy. He was told you ate it so you will pay. So I complained and she said he ate it sooo you pay. 62 years of dining out and wow totaly disrespectful toward him. I will not go there again. The whole time the manager / owner just counted her money and did not step up she just threw waitresses at us. Terrible disrespectful management. Drive on by this place. read more

If you are near the Struthers area you have got to eat at Donavitos! I had no idea there was a restaurant in Struthers with food this good! Pleasant and clean atmosphere and outstanding, unique food! Friendly staff also. We had barbecued ribs and pecan chicken. Both were outstanding. Also had the calamari. I would describe it as a Thai/Italian combination. Unique and delicious. After you eat drive about a quarter-mile to Yellow Duck park. It is a beautiful hike along the river. You can walk about a mile until you get to a point that trail crosses the River. You will need boots at that point to get across, or go barefoot. Both experiences will definitely make a nice day. read more

Along a one time but unfortunately past steel mill corridor sits a wonderful Italian restaurant. The place feels like it's been there since Struther's industrial heyday but is only 5 years young. The building of course has been there forever. The train that passed the place near the end of the meal shook the ground under the place and took me back to younger days in this once thriving mill town. The restaurant is modestly decorated in an Italian theme. There are multiple levels giving you more separation from the other patrons. There is plenty of room for a group, but it was also very nice to spend my time with just the wife. On entry, there is a small but nice bar area with a couple of big screen TVs. The service was 5-stars. Our waitress was attentive and tried very hard to help us especially since I identified as a first-timer. She checked back many times. One aspect that kept the place from 5-stars was the fact that my bottle of white sat on the table to get warm as dinner unfolded. The food was very, very good. I had the Walleye Italiano. There are no less than three Walleye dishes on the menu. Given the proximity to Lake Erie, this is understandable. The piece of fish was very large, covered in a mild and delicious white wine sauce and provolone that had melted just right. The mixture of portabella chunks, onion slivers, peppers and sun-dried tomatoes in the wine sauce was a great accompaniment and should prompt you to ask for another round of bread. The wife had the Cavatelli. The pasta appeared to be freshly made on-site. The sauce and meatball took the rest of the 5th star away. The wife did like the sauce, but it was not good on my side of angel hair. It had a bit of a smoky taste and needed a bit of salt to give it some life. The waitress highly recommended any of the chicken dishes based on popularity. Since I'll be back, that will be high on my list. The place is easy to find and parking is ample. read more

I was here yesterday for my sisters birthday. The restaurant was packed, I mean every table being utilized. People were packed in the entrance waiting for tables. With COVID still around it made me super nervous. Older lady acting as a hostess had a mask on but it was below her nose and mouth so basically useless. After waiting almost 2 hours to place our order we were told that they were out of fish which is the main reason we went. I think we were sat at 730 and still didn't have our food at 910. Would never go again. Food finally arrived and it was mediocre at best. Don't recommend. read more

I like this restaurant a lot. It's a little hometown place in downtown Struthers with good atmosphere and good food and a nice little bar with an excellent beer and wine selection. It's a small place and it fills up rather quickly and you can tell that the chef puts a great deal of personal attention in his food. I have been here several times and pretty much really enjoyed it every time. I just recently visited there and had the Boss Pasta dish. The only thing I don't like is that they cut the chicken up into the pasta, which really is me being picky. I like it to be grilled on top. The flavor was good and as any Youngstown girl would say this dish has lots of garlic flavor the sauce was good and I loved the mass amounts of cheese. The only other suggestion I have, and this is for all restaurants, I wish they would fry the seafood in one side of the fryer or have a separate fryer for all seafood. I am allergic to shellfish and unless they fry in separate oil. I cannot really enjoy some dishes on the menu. I also love the fresh Italian bread, and the greens are also wonderful and full of flavor. I like that you can order a sweet pepper or hot pepper with your greens. I also suggest getting the House Hot Chips. We have also had the catering on several occasions. I have tried the BBQ which is really excellent and just falls apart. We have also had the catering for a bereavement dinner which was also excellent. read more

After one visit, I am a huge fan of this restaurant. I was recommended to this place by multiple people. Knowing it was in Struthers, it wasn't on the top of my list to go out of my way and dine at. After eating there, WOW I will gladly go out of my way again for this place. The absolute best BBQ / smoked meat i've had in the Youngstown area. I had a hard time deciding what to get, because EVERYTHING looked amazing, and the prices are very fair! My girlfriend and I started with an appetizer recommended by a friend: Lamb Lollipops. Something neither of us would necessarily order normally. WOW. We couldn't get enough of these. Extremely tender, perfectly seasoned, and the pesto it came with was incredible. My girlfriend got the Jack Daniels Burger for entree. By my surprise, they actually cooked it to a "Medium" temperature. Most restaurants will ask how you want your burger cooked but in reality, they never actually cook it like that. It was perfectly pink. I got the BBQ Brisket Sandwich. The Brisket had this perfect smoky taste to it. Smother with cheese, bbq sauce, and "Chipotle Red-Onion Jam." Blown away. I can't wait to go back and try more entrees. read more

The lack of customer service from Alan and his mother was embarrassing, Taylor the server was less than prepared and the food was horrible! Have been to DonaVito's several times and the food is very good. Recently went for a New Years celebration with friends and had the worst service I have ever experienced in a restaurant. To begin our group had to wait almost 1 hour to be seated in spite of a reservation. The waitress talked up an appetizer so, in addition to several others ordered for the table, we ordered that one. 20 minutes later we received our salads before the appetizers. Of the 7 appetizers ordered, we received 5. We did not have dessert. We arrived on time and between the time we arrived and the time we left the restaurant 3 hours had passed. 1.5 of it was spent waiting for food or drinks while at our table. When requesting our checks we half jokingly asked the waitress what could be done for our unbelievably long wait for things and not being served some of what we ordered. She replied "Ha, free food is not going to happen." and walked away. When she returned, without our checks, she began to tell us about the unbelievably good appetizer, which we again pointedly reminded her was ordered but not received. She blamed it on the kitchen giving our appetizer to someone else and walked away so we had to wait yet again for our check and take home boxes. I do not recommend going to this restaurant during a holiday celebration. While the food was very good, large customer volume is not handled well on the floor. read more

Tried this place for the first time last night. Waitstaff was very nice, service was fast - maybe a little too fast. We got our salads, app, and dinners within 5-10 minutes which isn't terrible but our meals had to sit while we finished our salads and the appetizer. The house salad dressing was very good and so was the white balsamic. The salads were fresh and nicely portioned. We ordered the stuffed portobello mushroom appetizer and it alone was worth the trip. It came on a bed of Italian greens and had wonderful flavor. Our meals were very large but not outstanding. My partner ordered the loaded cavatelli and it came in a gigantic serving bowl and could have served three. It was served with four pieces of garlic bread which tasted a little burnt. A gigantic meatball came with it which was pretty good and a piece of fried cheese which tasted like it had been fried in the same oil as their fried fish. Not particularly tasty. Their sauce is sweet and had pretty nice flavor and the pasta was cooked nicely. I ordered the walleye italiano which was a little disappointing. The fish wasn't trimmed well and tasted extremely strong and "fishy." You could see the silvery film from the skin and the dark belly meat that could have been trimmed off. The peppers, onions, and portobellos that were in the sauce were undercooked and then whole thing came smothered in sauce which was way too much. In their defense - we didn't speak up about the things we were unhappy with while we were there. We will however go back - as I said - the stuffed portobello was outstanding! I will be happy to try some of their other dishes. read more

Went to this restaurant a couple days ago for a late business luncheon. 7 people, we were seated immediately and for the most part the place was empty. - Peppered greens appetizer was presently surprising. Both mild version and slightly spicy were delicious. - Italian cheese and dumpling soup was very good. - star of the lunch was the cherry smoked Ruben! Our wait staff was a little abrupt and rough around the edges but still attentive. Food took a little time to arrive but was worth the wait and worked out for us to discuss business. Overall my experience here was good. When we walked in we were greeted by a hostess around five minutes after we walked in. She was an older lady and did not say a word. She gestured to us and pointed at a table. Our waitress said it was the owner's mother. She was pretty rude. If I had known it was the owner's mother I probably would have left. The food was pretty good overall I would give it around a seven out of 10. Maybe a 6. The prices of the food were great though.
