Visited recently and was disappointed in the service, was not given the lunch menu,although it was at lunch time. Missed the specials! The food was fine however the service was lacking. In the side room was a small group making enough noise to be disruptive, drinking far too much for the lunch hour, hope they weren't driving. I went to dinner last friday and had a rib eye steak. I was nothing but fat. Came out looking like it came of a grill with all the marks but was maybe an 1/8 of an inch thick with no meat. Always liked this restaurant but will not go back and would not recommend them to anyone. Have visited this restaurant for years. The service was great but the steak was horrible. These positive reviews must be from family friends or a paid service. When we walked in, no one greeted us for for awhile. Not sure how long, but long enough to be awkward. For a few minutes I wasn't sure if we were to seat ourselves. Finally a woman appeared, asked us how many, and seated us in a booth--no hello or thank you. We ordered eggplant parmesan, grilled cheese sandwich, draught beer, merlot, water, and fried cheese. Beer was warm, fries were raw in the inside, grilled cheese was not melted on the inside, and the water didn't come. The sauce on the eggplant parm was the only thing that was good. My first time there and prob my last. Service was good and the food looked awesome but my steak was horrible. The peppercorn ribeye. Like I said, it looked great but had no flavor and was chewy. Ehh...not what it's cracked up to be as far as I'm concerned. It's not terrible though, I'd say average. It's clean, which is always a plus. The food though...nothing spectacular in my opinion. Where you park and where the restaurant is are separated by a set of train tracks, which if timed badly can leave you standing there waiting for it to pass, so you can leave. Last night, a friend & I sat at the bar drinking a few drafts & eating wings. The beer was cold, the wings were good, and the barmaid cute & friendly. Then... the guy seated beside us got this tomahawk steak that seriously was the best looking steak I've ever seen - EVER. Easily 48 oz of beautiful 3" thick ribeye with a bone 2 feet long hanging off the plate. Enough for 3 people. It was cooked to med rare perfection and cost $60. We travel a lot; have eaten at Gordon Ramsey's Steak Restaurant in Las Vegas; have been to many steakhouses in New York City including Sparks; and this guy's tomahawk was the best looking steak I've ever seen. It even had sides of asparagus & spaghetti (like there'd be room LOL). Unfortunately I didn't get a taste of that massive steak but we're going back! read more

The decor and service were spot-on. For us, the negative points revolved around being out of root beer and out of the bacon-wrapped jalapenos. For late afternoon, that's bizarre. Haven't been here in years but decided to stop in again in an effort to continue to eat local instead of chain restaurants. Just like i remember... Food is outstanding but service is just so-so! We got there before the 6pm rush and even then they were understaffed. Not sure what the issue is with staffing. I think having "real" ticket pads instead of a steno pad might help with accuracy (big problem here because 2 for 2 in messing up our order and forgetting stuff). Also think hostesses should be outwardly friendly at any restaurant when you walk in, but here you almost get a feeling that you were interfering with something they were doing before you walked in. If not for the service issues I'd give them a 4 or even a 5 star because the food is that good. read more

I've only been there twice, but the Donavitos salad is REALLY REALLY tasty and unique. Grilled portobello mushrooms, grilled red peppers, artichoke hearts, blue cheese crumbles , mozzarella, topped with a honey balsamic (and crack maybe) it is FANTASTIC. I don't want to give 0 stars but I will give 1 star because the food is good. It was my fiance 's birthday and I had heard this place had good food. So we went and got there an hour and a half before they closed and requested a seat away from the bar because we do not like being around drunks and they were loud that night. Waitress gave us an attitude about it and reluctantly gave us a table. She then left us alone for a half hour. Came back took our order and maybe 15 minutes later we got our food. We had finished and did not see the waitress for another half hour. She came back and slapped the bill on the table without saying a word. Had never been to Dona Vito's Italian Grille before but had purchased the $20 voucher from Myvalleydeals.com for $10. IT WAS WORTH IT! The service, the food, the atmosphere, everything was fantastically wonderful. I read the other reviews and ordered the Walleye bites for the appetizer, pink tortellini with shrimp and scallops. It was amazingly yummy. When the waitress found out it was our very first visit she had me immediately fill out a little card with my email address and will input me into the system so I can receive a $10 gift card. She also gave me a VIP card to bring with me the next time which they will add discounts to it after a $100 is spent there. That just made the experience even more worthwhile. My friend had the veal parmigiana with rigatoni and loved it! The salads were good and fresh. The servings were huge, prices perfectly acceded quality and quantity. Service was very friendly and always checking on us. Will go again - Buy 1 get 1 Walleye every Friday! Yes will go again in a few weeks. read more

For being an Italian restaurant we thought there would be lots of yummy flavors and there was none. We ordered the chicken parm and shrimp diablo and the sauce was sooo plain like it had come from a can of straight marinara. The shrimp diablo was not even spicy and had like 5 tiny pepper rings in it. While our service was okay the waitress was nice. But the worst part of the whole experience wasn't to food or service or anything like that but my baby needed her diaper changed and they had NO CHANGING TABLE!! So I had to go out to my car in the rain and change my baby. Definitely won't be going back to a place I cant even change my baby or enjoy good Italian flavors. Worst service ever! The greens tasted like microwaved spinach, sent them back. Server was horrible, took over an hour for my pasta. I finally said something after I realized how long it has been at this point, while she was bussing a party table and I never even received my salad after an hr. She then finally went back to the kitchen and had it out within two minutes after I finally said something. At this point I had no choice but to get a box I didn't even have time to eat my dinner it took so long I had to leave. Took her another ten mins for her to just swipe my credit card. Driving by we decided to stop and try this establishment. Didn't realize reservations were needed, but we were only 4th on "non-reservation" list, so we thought we would wait. After an hour we were next on "non-reservation" list. I was already not impressed with the attitude of the hostess. Then, as we waited, I saw the waitstaff drop the menus on the entryway carpet several different times and step on them only to put them in the menu bin and give them to patrons being seated. The final straw came when a couple that recently entered the restaurant without reservations and was low on the "non-reservation" list was, for some unknown reason, seated before everyone else on the "non-reservation" list after waiting for about 10 minutes. We had already waited an hour and a half. We left and more than likely won't give them another chance. read more

I am extremely dissatisfied with this restaurant. I went there with a friend who highly recommended it and left disgusted and vowing never to go back, even if someone else buys. They serve bread with the meal and I asked for olive oil instead of butter to dip my bread in. I was told I would be charged $3.99 for it, same price as their special blended olive oil dip. I only wanted olive oil for goodness sakes. In any good Italian restaurant they will give it to you free of charge or a slight upcharge. NOT HERE!!! read more

A good solid neighborhood restaurant that is slowly getting better. My wife and I eat here frequently. I often have their broiled haddock which never disappoints. Most recently I had their own Lasagna and it was very good as well. No one would ever confuse this place with Ruth Chris but neither are it's prices. She would disappear for 20+ minutes at a time and forget to bring things that we asked for. We did not get any refills during our entire meal, even though our glasses were empty. Now for the food, it was absolutely amazing! Very tasty pink sauce with tortelli and seafood. Definitely one of the best italian dishes I've had by far. Went for the Christmas in July event. Waitress didn't know anything about the appetizer buffet 7-10 that they had advertised. We were there until 8:30, never saw one. Went there for the Wednesday park inn Mexican night, it was horrible, nothing like the old park inn. The service was great though.

First time there, been wanting to try it and finally did. One of our favorites now. Got there at 5 and was immediately seated, had our drinks in 3 mins. ordered appetizers and had them in 5 mins. We were eating our meals by 5:20, couldn't believe how fast and the food was all delicious and hot. They weren't real busy yet so I know that had to do a lot with it. Our server Sonia was great, very helpful and polite. The menu is large with very nice selections. If you can't find something you like, you don't like food. The restaurant business is a very hard and demanding business so you are going to get bad days, but if they stay even close to the quality we experienced, we will always go back. read more

Our family booked the enitire place for a wedding reception almost an entire year ago. The service was poor. The staff through away the box for the top of the wedding cake, The food was not ready on time, there were workers plastering the outside of the building while our guests were arriving, a guest found price labels still stuck to thier cooked vegetables. Last night was the first I had ever been to DonaVitos and our experience was great! They were busy and we had about a half hour wait, we found out they do take reservations so may go that route next time but we sat at the bar, enjoyed some craft beer. Our waitress was polite and on top of things. We tried the blackened tuna bites as an appetizer and they were amazing..we had been told the prime rib dinner was excellent so we both ordered it. I had the mashed garlic potatoes delicious, a side of broccoli and my prime rib was melt in your mouth and cooked just as I ordered.. Very rare! The portions were large and I was stuffed but I had to try the tiramisu...amazing!!! We had an excellent evening, dinner and experience we will be going back!! read more
