Service and staff was excellent. I brought my Nissan rogue to them and they warned me about a leaving cover gasket that I had recently replaced at the Nissan dealership. I took the car back to the dealership and they are fixing it under warranty. The staff was super helpful and completed my oil change, brake fluid flush + tire rotation timely and quickly. I believe this to be a good shop but their "book pricing" is a bit over the top, we just had a very simple repair done, with street price for parts being less than $100 and the bill was $1100. They charged a diagnostic fee for an obvious problem (I diagnosed it over the phone!!!), then a double dip on the labor - meaning that one of the two labor charges was totally redundant. I understand this is a business and that overhead is high these days, but this amount for a repair as simple as this one is not sustainable. To make my point, I just doubled checked the part prices: OEM total about $91. I should have and would have done it myself but was not in town, with regrets. read more

The squeezed my repairs into their busy schedule, completed the repairs quickly and very fairly priced. I asked if they could do a few other things while they had it and they went above and beyond. My daughter was fighting with a dead battery in our 2018 Tahoe and I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I could not really help her. I found this shop 4.3 miles from her home and decided to give them a call. These guys are absolute gentlemen and they said bring in over and we will help her out. ZERO STARS. CROOKS. RUDE. After shopping at Kroger, my car wouldn't start. They were the closest repair shop so I called. Mike answered and was very nice, saying he could accommodate me after lunch. Great! Brought my car in. He said it would be a while before they could look at it so I left the car in the parking lot and took an Uber home (1:43pm). A few minutes after I got to the house, Tyler called (2:14pm) and said I needed a new fuel pump. I was quoted $460 for a highly recommended new Delfy fuel pump with warranty, ($200 for a cheap Chinese fuel pump with no warranty) plus 2.5 hours of labor at $97.50/hr. I told him I needed to discuss this with my husband before first. I hung up and called Auto Zone. I was quoted approximately $119.50 for a new Delfy fuel pump with warranty and $99 for a cheaper brand. Called Tyler back and asked him if the new fuel pump was all I needed. He said yes. I told him that I got a quote for the same exact part (with warranty) from Auto Zone for $120 and he said "really? ...I never buy from them...I get my parts from somewhere else." I told him that I couldn't afford to pay four times the amount that he was charging unless he could get me a better price. He said he'd see what he could do. I immediately called for a tow truck to take it to a mechanic on the other side of town that I trust. I called back and Mike answered. I told him that I was having the car picked up because I couldn't afford to get it fixed at this time. He seemed nice enough about it. A few minutes later, Tyler called back and told me that he was writing up an invoice for $100 and asked how I was going to pay for it. I kind of chuckled and said $100 for what? And he told me it took him an hour to diagnose my car. I told him that according to my Uber receipt and timestamp on my phone from when he called, it had been just about a half an hour and I was willing to pay him half of his hourly rate. He got extremely loud and rude and told me, "if you're going to be such a headache then forget it! You don't owe me anything! Just come get your car off my property!!" I told him I was only trying to get an fair deal, but I was cut off mid-sentence to him hanging up on me. When the tow truck driver arrived, he was rude to him as well. My car, which wouldn't start, was in the garage. They refused to help the driver move it so that he could hook it up to the tow truck. I don't know how people like that can get away with blatantly overcharging customers then turn around and being complete jerks about it when confronted. read more

Let's be real - car repairs blow. No matter how necessary they are or even if you can afford them, we'd all rather spend our hard earned money on something else. So when I recently had to drop $1100 on repairs for my car that just rolled over the dreaded 100K mark, the only thing that made it a little more tolerable were the guys at Donelson Auto Clinic. From my first phone call to their after-hours help, it was customer service you just don't often find. The guys here were super friendly and honest. This place is a joke! I set my appointment the morning before (so over 48 hours) and the only time was 4pm the next day. They stated in their email that they would reach out if they couldn't get to it that day. I waited and never heard so I came in around 3:30 and the guy says "oh yeah are you bringing it in tomorrow?" I was confused. He said "oh yeah we can't get to it today we close at 5 and I started to call you but didn't get around to it" SERIOUSLY?? I'm traveling 16 hours and now I have to find some place that can possibly do it or stay here extra days. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Oh and I've talked to several other mechanics who said what I needed done does not take that long and there was time for them to do it. read more

Hint, hint, this establishment is on SHADY Grove Dr. I will give you the rundown on the charges and what the shop did for me and you can make your own decision. Visit 1: 9/10/2004. A friend of mine told me about the shop and that it was owned by a guy that he went to church with. I made an appointment and brought in my older, but well maintained Jeep Wrangler. I told him that the Jeep was running weak and having some issues starting up once in a while. I told him that I needed an oil change, and I thought it may need a tune up and to check the starter because I had never replaced it. He called me some hours later telling me that the starter was fine. This was what was on my bill: "Work performed - road test and inspect. Replace spark plugs and wires, clean throttle body and change oil and filter...Replace both battery terminal ends. Belts, hosed and all fluids OK at this time. Road test..." Ignition Wires $48.95 Spark Plugs $27.57 Engine Oil $32.95 Oil Filter $9.99 Work Requested - runs weak (check tune up) Service engine $176.00 Total bill: $342.34 Leaving, my Jeep felt exactly the same...weak, didn't start well. He said "well it is probably feeling weak because it is old." I kind of wanted to say f-you right there, but I didn't. Visit 2: 10/8/2014. Basically, my car stalled and I had to have it towed - I am new to the area and didn't know where else to go. Guess what the mechanics found??? Hmmmm, the starter was out!!! What a surprise. This is what was on my bill: "Work performed - Jump start to find starter amp draw out of range. Replace starter and retest. Check ok. Test battery and charging system. All test OK" Work Requested - tow in, no crank $88 Starter - $197.55 Tow - $75 Total bill: $413.46 Leaving, my Jeep felt like a new vehicle. So, in the end, I paid 756.00 for a starter on a 2004 Jeep Wrangler. Damn, that is the most expensive part on my car now...it may start up a Mack Truck!!! Don't waste your time. Find a better mechanic that is fair. They still do exist. Luckily, many good and honest ones have worked on my Jeep. read more

I couldn't be happier about my experience with Donelson Auto Clinic. I wanted an honest assessment of my truck and I was willing to put some money into it to make it safe for the road and traveling. Mike, the owner called me with the report and said I didn't need to spend anything more on it. They went through it thoroughly and it passed all inspections. You don't find that kind of honesty in many businesses anymore. I was happy to pay the charge for the time spent looking for any problems. They have certainly earned my trust. These honest and awesome people came to my car a half-mile away when the power steering failed, diagnosed the problem very quickly, had my car back on the road in three hours for a competitive rate, and had the parts delivered to their store immediately from auto suppliers with whom they had clearly and carefully built a long-lasting relationship. They saved my Bonnaroo. They carefully explained everything. If you're reading this, it's because your car has broken down in this area. Call them. This is the place to go!! The guy who helped me was very knowledgeable and polite. They did not take advantage of me as a female with car troubles, but rather explained how everything worked and what needed to be fixed. The owner Mike knew I was willing to fix anything that was wrong, and yet he still didn't fix anything that wasn't broken to get a few extra bucks out of me. She shop isn't filthy with magazine pictures on the walls and tool boxes like most are. Donelson Auto Clinic is professional both in their customer service and in their work.
