Along with professionalism, I found the owner, Kevin, to be a hard working and honest man.

There are all kinds of details that I could go into on this review, but let's just suffice it to say that they now have a customer for LIFE! Thank you gentlemen!

Marks Automotive repair had my van for almost two weeks, did nothing but plug in a code reader then…read morecharged me $397 and wouldn't even offer to make the repairs they deemed urgent. I have a diy campervan that I was trying to get ready for a road trip from Nashville to New England and everywhere in between. I brought it to Marks Auto repair in Mt Juliet mechanic (same one for 17 years) to get routine service and a new steering gear box. I was told that my van was not fit to do a 3000 mile trip and instead of camping, I should just get hotels. I was charged $397.00 for them to give me driver error codes (P1207) and tell me not only did my gear box need replaced, but my transmission was gone, my entire ABS system needed replacement and my engine could seize up and leave me stranded. Mark Jr. told me they didn't even want to repair it because it would be a lot of work and not worth the money for an older (2004 Ford e150) vehicle. I was devastated! I had this trip planned for almost a year and only had a month to get a repair and routine service. I pulled the carfax and the records were spotless and precise (except for the entries that Marks Auto repair put in). I bought this van as a state vehicle in AZ and knew it had immaculate maintenance and service records. I knew the transmission just needed a drain and fill, new oil, and an all around check on tires etc... I took it to a trusted friend for a solid 2nd opinion and the gearbox was gone (I knew that) but friend said Transmission probably just needed a drain and fill, and that it would be fine. The Ford econolines were made to outlast. Some having 300-400k miles on them. Mine had 160k. Strange thing was, when I popped the hood to see if they had changed/filled any fluid (since I paid almost $400) there were no signs of ANYONE there. No finger prints, no swipe marks from someone leaning over the engine, nothing! There was the same dirt with no disruptions as there was 4 months prior when I put a new battery in myself! They had my van for almost two weeks and only gave me useless Marta codes that were from raving the engine while in park (rpm vs torque error). The ABS codes or light hasn't come on except on rare occasion, but Mark jr made it seem as if I was going to lose my brakes completely and have a tragic and sudden loss of control. Scary and dramatic! Long story, but this is not the first time Marks has been less than helpful and actually defeated the purpose of even bringing my vehicle into them on other occasions. For example, I had an oil leak in an '07 Mustang that had leaked onto my garage floor and they told me to just watch the fluid level, it didn't need to be fixed!? What? So for years, I had to put a pad under my car because I just trusted what they said. Now I know better. Now I know there are other mechanics who want to do the work, gain trust and don't swindle or use scare tactics to get you off the lot. I brought my van into Marshall Automotive repair in Hermitage, they listened and tested the all the things. They replaced the steering gearbox got it aligned, changed my fluids, looked over all the other systems and gave me a thumbs up for the trip. It was a long, difficult journey and I did it solo. To be honest, there were some scary thoughts in my head thinking "what if Mark Jr. was right?" Completely paranoid at times and questioning everything made it difficult to truly enjoy my vacation to the fullest, but I had to trust my gut and my gut said Marks Auto repair was wrong. And they were! So, here we are.... $400 in the hole for absolutely nothing and 3000k miles later... whatcha gonna do Mark's?

So I had previously posted a review detailing my very negative experience with this place but there…read morehas been recent information that I've found out regarding the initial "installation" of the FIRST clutch I had them perform, so hence the follow up. To summarize the first install: I had them install a brand new centerforce II clutch kit in my Jeep gladiator with 20k miles on it due to a recall issue. I had already purchased the clutch so they told me they could only warranty their work not the clutch itself which I was fine with. When I got the vehicle back it never shifted correctly and then had to be towed back when the improperly installed slave cylinder slipped out of the clutch fork on me in the middle of a busy intersection. I had to pay for the replacement because of course "it was the parts not their install (even though there's clearly evidence of the slave cylinder being installed wrong) so they forced me to pay them more to fix their improper install. Got vehicle back still didn't want to shift though at least this time they installed the second slave cylinder correctly (this time I checked myself). They refused to even look at it and hung up on me when I was trying to calmly discuss it with them. I did so without cussing at them or raising my voice which took a great amount of self control. I then paid another shop $1200 to look at it and they got things working for about 6mo before the same issues that were present after I got it back from Mr Transmission showed back up. So I eventually saved up enough money (and my grandfather left me a little when he died) to afford to PAY FOR ANOTHER CLUTCH AND SERVICE TO REPLACE IT, which Outlaw Offroad did an EXCELLENT job of. During their replacement they discovered that Mr Transmission had INSTALLED THE CLUTCH DISC BACKWARDS. F@$&ing BACKWARDS! So I guess so much for warranting their work. What a joke. I basically paid these people to make my dream truck barely driveable for a year and then had to pay two more shops to fix their work. I NEVER POST REVIEWS, ever. But these people have earned the time and energy from me to ensure that this doesn't happen to someone else. This has been an utter and complete nightmare and I wish I had the time and money to pursue legal action against these them for their complete and utter incompetence and unwillingness to make things right. Don't spend all my money at once Mr. Transmission. So much for taking pride in your work or any hint of integrity.

UPDATE REVIEW: The owner of Mr. Transmission called me the next morning after I posted the original…read morereview below. He asked me to consider giving him and his business the opportunity to make it right **HE DID NOT ASK ME TO CHANGE OR DELETE MY REVIEW ** The owner promised his shop would do whatever repairs were necessary to my satisfaction at NO ADDITIONAL COST to me. I took my truck back to Mr. Transmission and they replaced the transmission valve body. After the work was done I test drove my truck with a mechanic. The mechanic noted that the spark plugs were misfiring and should be replaced. Although spark plugs have nothing to do with the transmission warranty, the owner said he would replace all the spark plugs at no cost to me per his promise. Now my truck is shifting without issue and acceleration is more responsive. **I have voluntarily updated this review because the owner has integrity. He made a promise that the work his shop performed would be done to my satisfaction and stood by that promise.** My F150 had gear shifting issues and I went to Mr. Transmission for a diagnostic in May. The results: I needed a new tran. The cost: $5k rebuild, $6,500 new. I went with the rebuild. 10 days later I picked up my truck and a bill for $6,600. I asked why the rebuild cost as much as the new tran and was told "because we used new parts so basically it's new." I'D BEEN SCAMMED. My truck drove better...until it didn't. 1k miles later it made a terrible noise, shuttering and no acceleration after that it had the same gear slippage issues that it had before the "new" transmission. Although the tran has a 12mo/12k warranty, after reading the other reviews from people who have had an unfortunately similar experience with shoddy repairs and price gouging, I won't go back to Mr. Transmission to be SCAMMED again.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. THEY DONT CONTACT CUSTOMERS TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT EITHER AFTER THEY WRONG…read moreYOU. I took my car here 8 months ago when my car wouldn't start. Looking back my first thought should've been to change the battery first. However the mechanic spot said the battery was fine and assured me it was the gas pump even though they checked the gas pump months prior and got a piece replaced then. They finished servicing my car then gave it back. A week after my car stopped again. Got a locksmith to jumpstart it then got a new battery and the car finally started running. Fast forward to now I've been driving a lot and realizing the same symptoms as before when I took my car there are starting to occur again showing that I need a new battery such as, faulty gas reading, not reading key fob, etc. Im sure the car will stop running if I don't change the battery soon. These were the reason the Mechanic Spot decided to change my gas pump instead of telling me to get a new battery. They pretty much extorted me out of 1000 dollars on parts my car didn't need, it just needed a new battery. They lied about car repairs that I didn't need and didn't solve the actual problem. Then held my car, giving me the wrong time for final pickup causing me to miss work and money I needed at the time. I tell this story to say this. THE REPAIR SHOP ON DICKERSON ROAD THAT GOES BY "THE MECHANIC SPOT" IS THE WORST PLACE POSSIBLE TO TAKE YOUR CAR TO. UNEQUIVOCALLY. TRUST ME.

It turns out all my car needed was a $30 coil pack. That was about 5 years ago and my car still runs great. Just a couple months later, there was another incident. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt from the last bad encounter and say they made an honest mistake. But the next visit confirmed that they are definitely out to screw their customers. My other car needed a control arm and their quote was unbelievably expensive. I told him there was no way I was paying that amount for a control arm. He then wanted me to pay his exorbitant labor cost after giving me a ridiculous quote. I'd urge everyone to stay away from this place.

DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!…read more This was the WORST experience that I have ever had with an auto mechanic. I was told it would take a couple of months to have my old car like new. I was excited. He wanted money up front which I thought was unusual for a reputable shop. I paid him the money anyway, thinking in a short time all would be well. The two months turned into ten with Fast Shop Auto blaming everything on the parts they had ordered. Finally he called and said it was ready. When I came down he told me that one installed new speaker was not working but he could fix it. They said that the problem might be a new wire or radio problem. He said, " I can fix it , but you will have to pay me to take the dash out again. You have enough money in your deposit to cover my labor." I said, "Let me get this straight, I paid you to fix my car the first time and you did not correct the problem. Now you want to charge me again to fix the problem that you did not fix the first time? No, just refund what is left of my deposit and I will take my car." His reply, "The contract states the money is nonrefundable." After some heated words he agreed to return what was left of my deposit. When I got the car home there was a large scratch on the hood of the car which I asked about and of course they said they did not do it. Also, the dash heating controls were incorrectly installed and a heating duct fell from under the dash on my way home. The defrost control responded to medium heat while the other controls were mixed up as well. I was told that the heating unit was bad, but it was obvious the vacuum tubes were attached incorrectly. Also, the eight track player had been disabled and it worked when the car entered the shop. It was difficult being almost eighty years old, but I corrected several of his blunders. I was not going to write a review due to one similar to mine was posted a few months ago. When double checking the name of the business for a friend to make sure he avoided Fast Lane Shop I noticed that the review had been taken down. So I decided to take the time and effort to write my review to see how long it will stay up. PLEASE HEED THIS WARNING!!!
