Birthday Breakfast? Nope. Birthday at the Dentist…read more Nothing says "Happy Birthday!" quite like spending the first part of your special day in a dental chair. But honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way--especially at Schuchart Dentistry. Today was my regular bi-annual checkup and cleaning, plus I had fillings scheduled for two cavities they found. What I didn't expect was a morning full of firsts, birthday coincidences, and some very nice people. First up was Ryan, the newest dental hygienist--and today was literally his first day at this office. He has more than 15 years of experience as a hygienist, so he clearly knows his way around teeth; he just needed a little time to get acquainted with the machines and his new surroundings. Despite a few minor pauses, he was professional, thorough, and had wonderfully light hands. The cleaning was easy and comfortable, which is pretty much all I ask for when someone is poking around inside my mouth. Of course, I have to give a shout out to Carol, the dental assistant who usually takes care of me. She handled my 350-degree X-rays today before handling me to Ryan. Carol has such a sweet and caring personality that she has become part of my "dentist anxiety management team." I always feel calmer when she's around. Then Cassey took over and prepped me for my fillings with Dr. Chris Schuchart . She was professional, thorough, and--here's another birthday plot twist--her 19-year-old son shares my birthday! And apparently, one of Dr. Chris's children does too. At this point, I was starting to wonder if I accidentally booked my birthday party at the dentist's office. Dr. Chris was quick, efficient, and also thorough with my fillings, and thankfully, he also has those coveted light hands. Afterwards, Cassey handed me my new Invisalign trays and the fluoride varnish kit--which I decided to bravely apply myself at home. Some things are better left to the professionals; apparently, fluoride varnish is where I draw the line. And I can't forget Sage at the front office, who is always a huge help. From appointment reminders to making check-in practically effortless, she consistently makes the administrative side of visiting the dentist painless--which, frankly, should be standard everywhere. I really do love coming here. The dentists and staff at Schuchart Dentistry are warm, welcoming, and genuinely caring will still being professional. It's the kind nun of place where everyone seems to remember that there's an actual person attached to the set of teeth they're working on. My only request for my next appointment: Can I please have Carol again? Her calm, sweet personality makes going to the dentist feel considerably less intimidating. So yes, I started my birthday in a dental chair. No cake, (oh I brought them donuts) no champagne, just x-rays, fillings, Invisalign, and fluoride. Would I do it again? Absolutely. That's how much I like this place.

Being new-ish to San Antonio, it's been years (Yike!) since my last check up and cleaning and having settled in to our new home, it was time to select a practice near our home. There are so many options on Potranco and more dental offices pop up every 6 months or so as the community continues to grow. Schuchart popped up right at the entrance of my community, Arcadia Ridge. I can literally walk there in 10 mins. I'd seen this dental office on social media and love the aesthetic of the outside. The photos of the inside I've seen was just as impressive. The husband-wife team of dentists are young and family oriented. I knew I'd found my place! GETTING IN: scheduling an appointment was so easy. The gal I spoke to was very professional and friendly and we easily coordinated a date and time for my initial visit. I show up on the day of my visit very excited. Giddy, even. Let's get these teeth in tip-top shape! Check in was simple and I glance around the large waiting area. Portraits of the dentists and their child are framed and mounted on the wall, along with licenses and certificates. I love the ambiance, still smells brand new, lighting is comfortable and every surface is clean. There's what I can only guess is a child's play room, but I'm not 100% sure. THE TEAM: I have to say, the treatment team in back are awesome. Down to earth and really fun, actually. We shared quite a few laughs in conversation. The equipment is state of the art, so easy for my X-ray results and explanation of my dental health to be broken down simply for me on a screen. I required some repair and the doctor patched me up quick. Overall, I am very happy having trusted my gut with this new practice and I'm sure you can guess I can't wait for my next cleaning. After visiting this facility a few times now I have to reduce my 4 star rating to 2 stars…read more Here's why: 1.) I had noticed how dirty the blood pressure cuff was they put around my arm. It could have used a nice wipe down... same with the glasses they put on my face. They had smudge marks and fingerprints all over them. It was like they hadn't been wiped down.... at all and then placed on my face 2.) After they laid me back in the dental chair during that SAME occasion I saw bugs crawling around in the ceiling lights. While I know it's typical at some places to see dead bugs in the lighting fixtures - I'm not used to seeing them alive and crawling... especially in previous dental facilities. Those two things alone just made me feel like the facility probably wasn't as clean as it could be for this kind of establishment. 3.) Another issue I have with this facility is how many and how often they need to take routine x-rays. I was told 18 for new patients then 6 more every 6 months. Compared to many other facilities I've been to... that's excessive. Not to mention each time I've gotten x rays taken by the tech here the X-ray always have to be RE-Taken bc it's hardly ever right the first time. Even when another person took the xrays she had to call for someone else to help bc she couldn't get them right either. So that's even more xrays than what's required bc they could never get mine right for some reason. 4.) Billing. You have to really be careful and pay attention to the paperwork they print out for you. The first time, I had a change in my treatment plan and my bill went up. When I went to check out, my total due was less than the original amount. I could have walked out knowing I paid less than I should have but I asked about it and the total was adjusted accordingly. Then another time I went I was almost overcharged. I asked about it and again, the total due was adjusted accordingly. Now, the MAIN reason, I'm reducing by not one but by two stars is bc I feel like you need to be able to feel out and trust your medical providers. I have been here several times and have seen a different doctor each time I've come. I don't like this because I could feel comfortable with one person but not with someone else... not feeling comfortable with your dentist has the potential to change the WHOLE experience.. and not in a good way. The same is true if you have a dentist you CAN trust. It can change the whole experience... but for the better! Once I had a dentist I really liked, I asked if I could schedule my follow ups with that specific doctor but was told it couldn't be done bc of how their schedules are made up. They rotate. This is my biggest turn-off with this facility. I would LOVE to be able to book my Appt with someone I really feel comfortable with instead of having to get used to someone different each time I come. Unfortunately, I do not think this dental office will be suitable for my daughter and I but it is overall a nice facility and I can't complain at all about their customer service!! 2 great qualities 4 not so good (for me) 2 Stars.

He explains everything to you and gives you options before you decide how to move forward. He provides your Insurance breakdown itemized cost to you so you know upfront how much your insurance will cover and what your out of pocket expenses will be. What I love most about him is how he explains everything to you as he moves forward, I have high anxiety and am the type of person that needs to understand everything he his doing helps calm me down. Also I like to see all my photos and see what is going on inside my mouth. I currently have Multiple Myeloma - stage 3 cancer and have to keep my teeth healthy. I totally depend on Dr. Brice and his knowledge to ensure I am getting top notch service. What I love most is if I have an emergency come up his staff always manages to fit me in to get seen right away. He has an amazing staff. They make you feel welcome and are always friendly.

Everything went great from setting up the appointment to the notifications to check in. Dr. Brice is very thorough. He explains everything he is going to do or gives you the option of what needs to be done. He doesn't jump to doing anything super expensive first. I went in for a toothache thinking I was going to need a root canal. Dr. Brice was able to diagnose me with something else and I avoided the root can. He has a great bedside manner as well. The next available slot I was able to reschedule for was in June, so essentially I just missed my six month cleaning in general. The time before last, I had a cavity and Dr. Noble's staff was quick to schedule a filling and take care of that easily. Since this was a cleaning that hadn't been done in a year, my hygienist (the ever so kind Annette) took my x-rays before settling me down for my cleaning. She always makes me feel comfortable and she listens to my request (no water drill/pick while cleaning unless absolutely necessary). Fortunately I take well enough care of my teeth that I've never needed it while under Dr. Noble's care for cleanings. (Cavity fillings are another thing...) Regardless how fast the cleaning goes, or even if the hygienist doesn't flag anything, Dr. Noble will still make time to check in and see for himself how you are doing. I'm very happy with Dr. Noble's office. I'm glad they accept my insurance. A great dentist is hard to find these days and as long as I'm in San Antonio, I plan to continue to come here.
