A while ago, I went with a friend after doing some errands. The place has an outside seating area that is nice in warm weather. We had a burger, a sandwich, a couple of beers and lunch was good. Recently, I stopped for a late lunch/ dinner and sat inside. I ordered the Fish Fry Panco version. Crunchy delicious with lemon, tartar sauce & Cole slaw. To finish the Apple Empanadas with French Vanilla Ice Cream & whipped cream. A Starry complemented the dinner. Service was good, and the place was filled with locals. read more

I love coming here for a few Guinness on a cold winter day or coming here for a moderately warm summer morning. The second I walk in, I'm yelling "it's Guinness time". You know what they say about Donnelly's come for the Guinness, but stay for the Guinness. Being here reminds me of the time I was in Ireland and there was a bee that landed on a pen that was on the ground. That was crazy. read more

This is our go-to pub of choice in the village and we usually end up here whenever we want a great atmosphere and good food. We sit at the bar and love the local atmosphere! The food is always great (wings are soooo good) and prices are comparable to other places. The bartending staff is always welcoming and the beer selection rotates. Outdoor seating as well. Just a nice local pub with good food and great people. read more

What a great place to have a meeting. I've been there for lunch several times with colleagues, a few times with friends, every time the service is exceptional. The food is very good and there are lots of quality drafts on Tap. It's easy to find a booth where you can have a quiet conversation and it's in the heart of Fairport village, which is very convenient for me. Love this place. I'll keep coming back. read more

One of my favorite places to get a great meal with a cold beer. Their deals are amazing too on Mondays $8 burgers and then on occasion they do 25¢ wings on Tuesdays. A great place for the whole family. read more

Great lunch today. Had the gormet grilled cheese w sweet potato fries - def recommend those. Jenna, our server, was great. Food came out quickly and portions were great. Other guys had grilled wings and being a wing snob they were big wings even for a western ny'er! Really cool spot inside. read more

My mom and I came here for lunch and it was fine. The service was slow, which was surprising for lunch, but we sat outside so it may have been pretty busy inside. We also asked for lemon in our water and didn't get that. They should definitely do a treatment for yellowjackets because they were all around and the attitude was very, "if you don't like it then go sit inside". The food was okay. My mom had a chicken quesadilla and they put raw green peppers in it. I think that was the alternative to the jalapeños she declined, but who knows. My pulled pork sandwich was decent, but not much BBQ sauce and that was disappointing as they have multiple varieties. The roll also disintegrated while I was trying to eat it. Note that it does come with chips and a pickle. Overall, I don't think we would come back, but glad we tried it and supported a local business. read more

I have not been here in a while, but went out for a beer and sandwich with a buddy. Server - (Jessica) Excellent Beer selection very good, had a Grimm Toy IPA. BEST OF FAIRPORT Rich and his wife own this establishment in Fairport, NY The beer list is always changing with many great IPA's. A must stop in the village of Fairport, just north of the Erie Canal. Excellent food, the service is great and a very comfortable place to sit and relax for a beer, snack, lunch, or dinner. A wide range of choices to eat and the portions are above average. Ordered nachos with pulled pork, delivered to table in less than 5 mins, cold so we sent back, got next plate again within 5 mins, also cold. Sent back again, this time cook or someone brought out to us, said everyone loves our nachos and these have been "microwaved" so they should be hot. Ugh.....they were not good, still not hot through layer, and who wants microwaved food when you are paying $18 for an order of nachos! Our wings were not great either. Stopped at Salvatore's for pizza as we both left hungry and disappointed. Never again. And we have had good food there before. Service was excellent. read more

This is my long time go to pub, partially due to proximity and familiarity but also because it's just a great pub. Cozy bar area with high top tables, a reasonably large and ever changing beer selection and friendly bartenders. The dining area isn't huge but is supplemented with a roomy outdoor patio in the summer. The servers are fantastic and the food is a bit better than average pub fare... And the wings are, in my opinion, some of the best in Rochester. Many options including grill finished. The only shortfall is that, during peak hours, there is often a long wait for seating... But I can live with that as long as Donnelly's Public House remains a thriving part of Fairport's ever changing restaurant community. read more

I had the corned beef with cabbage, potatoes, carrots , and parsnips. Great serving, nicely presented. The veggies were al-dente which, for me, was very nice. Unfortunately the beef was too. It could have used a bit more cooking to be more tender. Overall this is a great place worth returning to, for other edibles and drinks. Thanks for great service. read more

Stopped by tonight for some drinks and was impressed with the selection of beers on tap. We ordered the panko breaded fish fry and turkey burger. I was amazed with the size of the fish fry that was hanging off my plate. My wife loved the Turkey burger too. Met some of the locals that also made us feel welcomed. How do I not have a food pic to share? We love Donnelly's. It's a true neighborhood place. Staff is great, food is always hot and fresh, and it's comfortable. Last week I had a Cesar with a sirloin on it. It was exactly how I wanted it. Love this place and even more after the pandemic when we were grabbing food and drinks to go for months. In summer weather there is an outside area in front and you can really people watch from there. read more

A pretty decent pub to stop in for lunch. The atmosphere and decor leaves a lot to the imagination, even for a pub and it was quite cold inside. Our server however was very warm and welcoming, making sure we were taken care of. I ordered a special of the day, a monstrous Tampa Cuban with a side of curly fries, and my spouse ordered a bbq chicken sandwich. My Cuban was enough for two whole meals and was overall very good. However my spouse said that his sandwich wasn't anything special, just a grilled chicken breast with some BBQ on a bun. Had a very nice meal here Saturday night. It was busy but we got a booth right away. The waitress was very good. Friendly and quick. Grilled chicken sandwich with onion rings wad delicious. My beef on weck with fries was very good. Food was better than expected and came out quickly and hot. Highly recommend. read more

Great place to stop for lunch if you are in Fairport. The atmosphere is very laid back so it the perfect place to watch a game, catch up with friends or even have a casual date night night. I went with the Cuban sandwich and it was absolutely delicious...chalk full of roasted pork, ham and a zesty mustard. The portion was large enough to save the other half for dinner! I just was not a fan. I have gone a few times and brought up my issues. But unfortunately still disappointed. The food is served there and very expensive. The service is very slow. I mean very very slow, unless your drinking hard. I found the waitresses very un interested in serving me. However the men who came in for lunch the few times I have been were served right away. It's funny because had they paid more attention, I work in F.B industry and would have tipped over 30%. But oh well. And the ambiance is almost. It feels like it has amazing potential if the decorator would make up their Mind. And comfy chairs. It is also too loud when it's busy. Because of the total wood thing the sound has no no way of absorbing and diluting a little. So don't go there if you want to hear yourself think or have a conversation. A few coworkers and I stopped by here for lunch. It was a beautiful day, so we were able to sit on the patio in the front of the restaurant. Service was quick and friendly. We had no issues there. I appreciated the inclusion of a vegan option on the menu. The veggie burger was fine! Nothing amazing, but good. I added BBQ sauce to it, and that definitely made it better. I have been to Donnelly's a few times and have had similar experiences each time. I keep going because it's right in town and is easy to agree on for a group. That's probably the best feature- people give it the benefit of the doubt. I went with three friends and walked into the dark bar with low ceiling where we were hit in the face with a smell I most closely associated with livestock, though it was probably a sewer back up. We were seated quickly at a table nestled between the service bar, atm and kitchen door. Our server was great for the first part of the meal but after dropping the food he disappeared! We had to request our check from the bar then request to pay it! We didn't see our server again until we were walking out the door. The beer menu is good, they keep a list on an tablet, which this server gave us- but didn't mention we could click on the beers to get more info- like ABV. They have a solid selection of notable IPA so no complaints there. The food was unmemorable. I had the tuna melt and a side salad, the salad was basic but crispy. The meal came in around $14 with the salad upgrade, which was a bit steep for what was served. The tuna melt was standard fare but not notable which was the consensus around the table. It will be a while before I come back to Donnelly's. read more

Used to live in Fairport a looong time ago-in town to take care of my mom who is in the hospital. stopped in to get take out and had a much needed martini while I waited. Had an excellent experience all around. The turkey burger and waffle fries with special sauce were spot in n as well as the martini. Picked up wings on our COVID wing tour this week. Ended up going with the Buffalo Hot, extra saucy, extra crispy. My kids went BBQ. They loved theirs - a rich and thick BBQ - smelled incredible and they left none for others to try ... always a good sign. The Buffalo were ok - the flavor was fantastic, but were anything but crispy let alone extra crispy. Although they weren't dry, they certainly weren't "saucy". The good thing with buffalo wings take out is the jar of Franks in the fridge can help with the saucy part. Overall - these are good wings - I'm still looking for a local place with the trifecta of extra hot, saucy and crispy ... stay tuned. read more

Always our go to when we visit from Texas. The beer selection is always amazing, and I love trying beers from the area they we'd never find in Texas. The staff is wonderful, friendly and remembers us, even though it's a year between visits. Add in constantly great food, you've got a winner. We started with a flight of mediocre (as it turned out) red wines; a Grenache, an Italian varietal, and a Cabernet. 3x2 or 6 ounces for $15.00. None of the wines were very good. We like to sample wines by the flight so we can drive up to Georgetown liquor and get a bottle. None of these were even close to prompting a visit there. For food we had a peach, tomato, quinoa, goat, and kale salad. We also had a cheese flight and I had the spicy meatballs. Expensive and very small portions. My meatball app was $15 and was 1 and 1/2 small meatballs doused in Frank's with a squirt of blue cheese. It was spicy as advertised but meager. Cheese flight was ok, but also $13 for not a lot. Spoiler alert: if their menu says 'shareable', it's not, unless one of you (or both) are fasting. Service was adequate and we got to enjoy the live music entertainment sound check (we got there before the actual performance). Guy banging on the percussion box: yes, it's way too loud for the tiny space. Usual server upselling of their overpriced menu items and drinks, but not delivering much in the way of hospitality or warmth. I don't think we would go back unless one of our friends wanted to. One person ordered the Sunday sauce - this was a pile of cork-screw shaped pasta tossed in the sauce with cheese; I personally would have liked a side of extra sauce and either a meatball or a sausage, but the person who ordered it was happy - pasta cooked well, sauce tasted good, portion was huge so there were left overs. Another person ordered the roasted pork sandwich with the rapini greens, cheese and banana pepper mayo. This was on Salty Grains (?) bread. We had seen this featured on instagram by an influencer and it was delicious - rich and meaty, and big! We all had some and still the person who ordered it took half home. Another person got the gochujang ribs which was a good portion. The ribs did not come with any sides but that was ok. The eater expected the ribs to be more spicy but they were actually more sweet. Not in a bad way, just not what was expected with 'gochujang' in the name. The last diner had the burnt ends. These were also good, very flavorful and cooked well (ie not dry), but they could have been 'burnt' a little more. We also had an order of calamari and an order of the cauliflower bites. These were good for sharing, and came with dipping sauces. All of the food was solid. I would get the pork sammy again or try other dishes next time. This place is also easy to find and has a big parking lot. Sorry, no photos - it was a reunion dinner and we were chatting so much we forgot to snap pics!!

First off I'm going to say there's definitely an issue where they're signage. The hours are correct online, but we didn't look there because we drove by it on a night. It was open and saw the sign so we figured we would go there and we try to go on a Sunday night. There are two signs on the door, one saying that it's open seven days a week and then another one that says closed on Sundays and Mondays. I think they should get that straightened out. If you have mobility issues, you'll definitely wanna park around the back so you can go up a ramp or it's a flatter surface rather than steps if you park in the front . There's a really cute little outdoor patio to eat with heaters obviously, this time of year it's not quite the right weather for that. The inside hasn't changed there's still the county flags on the walls in the ceiling , there's still the big wooden privacy booth with a little Shamrock on the table underneath. There is a fireplace that's lit when it's appropriate and there's wooden tables in the middle of the dining room. It's not a huge restaurant. There's a really large menu that I feel like it can appeal to everybody's tastes. Honestly this place has the best potato skins I've ever had anywhere and they're just like I remember them from when I was younger. They come with a healthy side of sour cream. They didn't have some specials with candied bacon and so I wanted to try it and I asked if I could get a side. I got two sides of very slimy, grizzly limp, bacon. That was my only complaint. I think that candy bacon should be crispy and if the chef wants me to give him some pointers on how to make candy bacon I'll be happy to share my recipe with him. I also had a tomato basil soup for an appetizer because it sounded so delicious and it was really good. It had a nice texture and it was a sweet tomato basil soup . It was very thick almost like a marinara. Delicious! My dad had the turkey temporary grill. I believe it was. It was a turkey sandwich that came with a side of onion as you and he picked out homemade fries to go with it. Honestly, I was having a little bit of FOMO from not ordering it. It looked really good. I asked about desserts. They only had one dessert and this was on Thursday night. . It was a lemon mascarpone cake and it was really delicious. I've been to DPH many times since they opened. The beer selection is great. You can tell that they take their beer seriously. A lot of places have 'craft beer' on tap now - it's a pre-requisite. But most places with ten or more taps seem to let their distributers choose whats on tap: Lots of Spaten, Franzikaner, Goose Island, Blue Point - all the AB InBev brands. Donnellys is different, you can tell that they go out of their way to curate the beers on tap. Lots of taps you don't see elsewhere and I appreciate their dedication to NYS beers. I can always find a new beer (or three) to try when I visit. And as if the beer selection isn't enough (and for me it is), the menu is a perfect example of elevated pub fare. All the menu items are inventive and well prepared. The portions are a little generous for my middle aged gullet, but anyplace that serves pirogies AND tater tots is going to see my moon face again and again. I haven't been to their new place up the street (the B-Side) but I'm looking forward to trying it. If the selection and service is as good as Donnellys, the addition of live music is just gravy (and I love gravy). read more
