Place is clean , staff is helpful and kind . I ordered the bacon , egg, cheese and jalapeño bagel . I do wish they offered egg whites .. The bagel sandwich was fresh and steamy . I ordered a side of tomatoe and how amazing were they, they seasoned them for me , salt , pepper and sesame seeds (Awesome) I also wish for dinning in they offered ceramic cups for your coffee. I went to Donny's around 6:30 AM on a weekend -- I wanted to try out a local spot and found this one hidden next to the Trek bike store. There were about 5 other patrons there and the two gentlemen working were so nice. I got the Mexican mocha and smoked salmon/lox bagel. The Mexican mocha was very yummy, and I liked that you can taste the Ibarra chocolate! The coffee flavor wasn't too strong, which was honestly preferred. The lox bagel was also good. I don't think I've ever had a lox bagel with avocado, but it made for a really creamy bagel filling! Overall I would return and recommend this spot. :) read more

I cannot say enough about this place. Donny is such a solid guy and makes every encounter personal. He and his staff are top tier. The coffee is always good and although they get tons of customers a day they always remember to stop and say hello to their customers. Service like that isn't common these days. I have been coming to this coffee shop for some time now and just getting to doing a review. This is a very casual cozy coffee shop that has been here for years. We ordered hot vanilla latte and hazelnut latte and a strawberry banana mango smoothie and they were all delish! A friend and I went here after our walk. We got some coffee and breakfast. I got their Trail Blazer coffee (green tea matcha, almond milk & espresso). She got their MSOB(AKA). For food, we split the Bagel Salmon and Avocado Toast. We added eggs to the Avocado toast for an additional cost. Worth it! Their avocado toast has a unique flavor than what I've had before. I was pleasantly surprised to taste lemon. It definitely added flavor. We enjoyed our food and drinks. Service was good! We ordered at the register. Our order came out quick. Donny's cafe was a pleasant place to have a quick bite. There was ample indoor and outdoor seating area and the restaurant was clean and welcoming. They also had bird feeders hanging outside and we saw hummingbirds! Service was welcoming. And the food was also delicious and affordable! They do not skimp on their ingredients. I tried their matcha latte and was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the matcha and drink itself. Definitely would recommend visiting :) They've been around since 1995 and I can see why. Such a great find! We came right after the gym around 8:30. There was a line but once you place your order it came out very quickly. The tuna salad sandwich was absolutely delicious and bigger than I expected. Had to take the other half home to my husband and he thought it was incredible as well. Searched "vegan" cafe and the place came up as one of the choices. Quaint, small cafe, patio seating outside avail. Place is just right after the trek bicycle store. Service : friendly and helpful. Went there looking for vegan pastries and specifically brownies cake. Guy at the counter said that the only vegan they have ( and they are out) is the zucchini muffins. Choices in pastries are limited from what I saw available in the small glass container . parking, cafe shares space with the bicycle shop. There's a bathroom is available inside. read more

I've been here a couple of times and every time the food and drinks are so delicious! I've had the avocado toast before and it was good! Okay so the food is decent BUT: 1. Insanely expensive for a bagel! I think it was like $16 and I got the last everything bagel with the salmon , cream cheese ( too much of kind of drowned the overall flavor ) , avocado and tomato. They forgot the capers !! Salmon was kind of mid. That's the price of like a decent meal at a sit down restaurant. 2. Husband got last plain bagel with bacon , egg, and cheese for $12..he said it was bland. It did look very sad.. 3. Place is a dated and ambiance could use some renovation for these prices. The tables and chairs are all mismatched and the bathroom is dark and dingy. Got an indoor area and outdoor section next to a bike shop facing parking lot 4. Servers are friendly but putting up chairs at 1:30 Pm when it closes at 2 PM is a little unwelcoming so I ate in my car. 5. Now you got better buzz down the street which I personally think is better for the price , should probably kick it up a notch for newer customers read more

I had no idea this cafe was just hiding around the corner here in Bonita. This was our first time here and the atmosphere is very welcoming and homey. We got the avocado toast with egg (egg was huge!!!), a matcha latte, and a heaven's delight. The avocado toast was yummy with lemon pepper and the coffee is not too sweet and felt like a warm hug. I tried out an iced heavenly delight and a muffin (can't recall the name of it). Both were a nice pick me up at 10am. I hung out for a bit and noticed quite a few people here hanging out as well. Seems like a popular place for the locals. They have LE patches and fire department stuff hanging on the walls so they support first responders. The service was absolutely charming, the staff treated us like family. I don't hand out five star reviews too often and even when I do see businesses that have five stars, I'm skeptical until I try it for myself and Donny's cafe does not disappoint! Donny, the owner, is extremely inviting and friendly towards all his customers. There are a lot of regulars that come here for a reason and even if you're new, he'll make an effort to ask for your name and have you feel welcomed. Every time I visit, I order a Lox bagel and a cup of coffee to start my mornings. The amount of smoked salmon inside the bagels are good for price that they charge. My friend and I were looking for a place to go for coffee and breakfast for ourselves and our kids. My friend lives near the border and I live in East County, and Donny's seemed like a great middle location to go. And, it has a lot of positive reviews. Based on the reviews, we thought there would be good spots at a table for us to sit together at, for our kids, to draw and color, and play card games. I would say the best part about this place is that the two gentlemen working behind the counter were super respectful and kind and provided great service. Aside from that, the experience overall was lackluster. First off, this seems like it's a place that probably has a big local cult following, largely among local cyclists (as an easy pit stop for coffee and a short break) and people of a certain religion. While I certainly respect people's religions, I would not have chosen this place to go to purely for the fact that the Christian music blaring over the speakers the entire time was so distracting and hard to hold a conversation through. All of the religious insignia inside was also offputting. The menu is incredibly limited, which isn't necessarily a negative in all instances but wasn't ideal for us. The latte that I bought was okay. The bagel sandwiches that we purchased were well done. The places to sit were not what I call clean or comfortable, they were purely utilitarian. Save, for a nice looking leather couch in the outdoor area. That said, I'd describe the place as a whole as utilitarian. I certainly take responsibility for my disappointment in the menu as I should have looked through it more intensely, but, as someone who is not religious (nor is my friend-in fact, Christians have caused us and our families harm), I wish there was some indication that we'd be immersed in a Christian atmosphere and a lackluster overall experience when going to Donny's, as we would have chosen a different place to spend our time and money at. read more
