*friendly cozy spot * great service * parking also in the back * casual cool ambiance This place is still a great spot for some coffee or matcha. Service is always welcoming! A must try I. The heart of third ave... My favorite here is the matcha! Casual friendly ambiance.

The place is spacious. They have seating inside and outside as well. It's clean and tidy. The employers are very kind and sincere. Welcome you with a smile. The food was amazing. I got a veggie breakfast sandwich with a lavender iced coffee. Delicious. I will be definitely coming again.

Solid coffee shop on downtown Chula Vista! Great solo study spot--plenty of bar seating and mini tables, plus outlets, free wifi, and an accessible bathroom! NOTE: metered parking only (I think 2hr max). I got an iced white mocha--was on the stronger side and less sweet/milky just how I like it!

Downtown Chula Vista has a bunch of good spots to check out, especially when it comes to coffee. If I'm in the area, I always stop by GrindHouse for a dose of caffeine. I really like their Cold Brew, so that's my drink of choice. GrindHouse is super chill with a handful of indoor seating and a few tables outside. The staff is always friendly, too. I personally haven't tried their Sandwich menu yet, BUT the shop always smells good. Lol I will eventually! My sister did try their Grilled Cheese and the cheese pulled was immaculate, so that's promising. See ya latte!

This place surprised me. The coffee was amazing. Very solid spot. The Food is good to. I will say the only thing was the tables were a tad messy. The restroom was clean. Aurora was really nice. She had a good recommendation when I couldn't make up my mind and it ended up being a good choice. Good walking spot where this location is. Good amount of seating for a small place. Very interesting décor. Parking isn't too bad here. Best time would be to come early though. I would definitely come back and try some more stuff.

wow such a great gem that we found on a random sunday. the baristas were nice, the coffee was delish, they def know what they're doing behind the bar. the sandwich seemed pretty simple and straightforward, the egg looked to be kind of thick at first but trust me on this - it's so good!

Great coffee (and hot chocolate) and incredibly kind staff. Location is awesome and parking was cheap in the lot.

This is a nice coffee place in downtown Chula Vista. Gives off a kind of hipster vibe in a good way. Their coffee is good, even though I'm not a huge coffee person. I tried their Moon Drink (matcha + chai latte) recently since I really like both of those teas. The chai flavor was a bit stronger than the matcha in this drink, but I could taste both. Service is quick and efficient. The staff seem kind.

What brand/kind of syrups do they use for their flavored drinks? in house made, monin, torani, etc?

We use a variety of syrups, some house made and some bought.

    Is this place hipster?

No, there were no hipster sightings on my most recent visit.

Is avocado toast an option? If so how much? I'm really hoping it is because this place look amazing I want to come every morning.

We do not offer avocado toast. Instead, we offer hummus toast. Choose from three house made hummus’ and either rosemary olive oil sourdough or 7 grain cracked wheat bread.

The staff was genuinely friendly, and we were able to find a seat inside without too much trouble. We expected a bit of a wait given how busy it was, but the timing ended up being a bit off. Our food arrived first--we had the avocado toast and the mini green chilaquiles. Both dishes were delicious, though the chilaquiles verdes leaned a little heavy on the garlic. (Seriously--hours later, even after brushing, lunch, and multiple rounds of mouthwash, that garlic flavor was still going strong.) We took our time eating, hoping the drinks would arrive, but they didn't come out until much later. We ordered a cappuccino and an iced churro latte. The cappuccino finally came out right as we finished eating--it tasted good, just a bit lukewarm. About five minutes later, the iced churro latte was ready, so we ended up taking it to go. That one was actually really good. Overall, the food and drinks were solid, and the staff made a great impression. I'd definitely like to come back and give it another shot. I love supporting small, locally owned businesses, and with a little adjustment to the flow--like pausing mobile orders during peak times or dedicating a team specifically to them--this place could really elevate the experience.

Each cup is smooth, well-balanced, and never overpowering. There's a subtle, natural sweetness that enhances the flavor rather than masking it, making it easy to enjoy whether you're a casual coffee drinker or more particular about your brew. It's the kind of coffee you can rely on to be consistently good, visit after visit. Casa de Otay has become my go-to coffee spot not just because it's convenient, but because of that dependable quality. The biggest flex of this place is the fact they had a dj playing music the moment you step in. I already knew this place was going to be fun because of this reason. Chili Crisp Bacon, Egg, and Cheese (4/5) Nice and light for a breakfast option. Not too heavy, which I appreciate. The sauce adds a nice flavor profile to the sandwich. I just wish the sandwich had a little more of the chili crisp so I could taste it in the meal and really bring the whole thing together. But still a great option and tasted delicious regardless. Tater Tots (5/5) Tasty and crunchy. There's a specific seasoning to the tater tots that really elevates the flavor, but i can't pinpoint. Really pairs well with any dish that you order from this place, really! Highly recommend and would come back the next time I'm in the SD area!

The ambiance inside is so nice, with a long velvet/velour bench and some comfortable chairs and solid stone looking tables, they have put some thought and effort into their aesthetic. But of course we come for the food and drinks, right? So they do have a pretty good selection of sandwiches, salads, and pastries. Their drink menu is also quite good and they also have their signature drinks and food. The place is always clean and neat, and so welcoming. My favorite sandwiches are the grilled cheese and the roast beef. I would have the roast beef more but I have to watch what I eat or i get gout. I love this place as they are so accommodating and also listened to some of my suggestions. When they first opened up they would just serve their sandwich with no side, just the sandwich. But i will say that they do charge a fair amount, and for that amount it would be nice to have something else on the side. So my suggestion was to either derive a little house salad or some chips to fill out the plate and to add some texture to the meal. And to my surprise the next day they had added a little salad to the meal. And might i add I really don't like salads, but this one is very delicious, and adds a bit of different texture and some acidity to your meal. The drinks are nice and are made right there. They are always served in nice glassware if you are drinking there. I am not a big coffee drinker so I usually will go with a chai or some tea. I love that they will make it either hot or cold to your liking. I was a bit worried when they started up, as i thought that this was not a good time in the economy to open up a business. But they are doing remarkably well and they are quite busy most of the time. I love to see a place doing well, so when we climb up the stairs to go to work, we have a nice start to our day to see all the happy people inside eating and drinking. I wish they continued success, but I know they have found their niche and a good formula for success.
