I've driven past this coffee shop for years and finally decided to try it. The inside was decorated cute with a rustic, desert vibe. There's indoor seating with chairs & tables as well as comfy chairs. The outdoor seating is covered under umbrellas. I got a matcha with almond milk and added lavender. It was an average matcha, nothing too special. Maybe I should have chosen a different add-in flavor. They made my drink within minutes so service was great! After seeing this place raved on TikTok I wanted to get it to try myself. The parking is decent. When I went in the staff was quick to greet me and asked if I had any questions. I took a look at the menu and decided on getting the Matcha Meets Fresca and chilaquiles. The Matcha was actually pretty good. And the Chilaquiles were decent however I can tell the green salsa is not a fresh salsa. I also did not care for the chicken. It tasted like pre-cooked chicken that had been warmed up. The chips were very crispy however. I think it's a great option for folks in the area, however I would not return given it's not located in my community and can find not your preferred closer to me. There were folks in their meeting and working and although it may be a little noisy, it is a great option to work from. Stopped by on a Sunday morning around 9:30 and the place was already bustling. We ordered two breakfast dishes and a couple of coffees. The staff was genuinely friendly, and we were able to find a seat inside without too much trouble. We expected a bit of a wait given how busy it was, but the timing ended up being a bit off. Our food arrived first--we had the avocado toast and the mini green chilaquiles. Both dishes were delicious, though the chilaquiles verdes leaned a little heavy on the garlic. (Seriously--hours later, even after brushing, lunch, and multiple rounds of mouthwash, that garlic flavor was still going strong.) We took our time eating, hoping the drinks would arrive, but they didn't come out until much later. We ordered a cappuccino and an iced churro latte. The cappuccino finally came out right as we finished eating--it tasted good, just a bit lukewarm. About five minutes later, the iced churro latte was ready, so we ended up taking it to go. That one was actually really good. Overall, the food and drinks were solid, and the staff made a great impression. I'd definitely like to come back and give it another shot. Just a heads up: they're closed on Mondays (I almost stopped by again, but luckily checked the map first). This spot is definitely worth trying if you're a sweet-coffee lover. I asked for my drink 75% sweet, and both times it was just right. I'm not in my "add an extra shot" era atm, otherwise I probably would've gone that route. This visit, I ordered the Dulce Beso hot and it was super good! my only wish is that it came in a bigger size for $8. If you're trying to get more bang for your buck, I'd recommend ordering iced. Another addition to the neighborhood in the newer developing areas. It's located right under an apartment. Parking is limited but it's not bad cause there's nothing in that area so it's not busy. The place itself was clean and quaint. It's your typical coffee shop with tables and leather chairs, nothing too much, just your typical neighborhood coffee shop. I had no issues with the service. They all seemed like hardworking neighborhood college kids. I personally had no issues. They were polite and were working hard, I had no issues with it. The drinks however were just not outstanding. It's nothing on the staffs fault. But I just did not enjoy them. I had their strawberry matcha and I'm not gonna lie, it was terrible. The matcha did not taste like matcha. It left a terrible after taste. And the strawberry was a strawberry milk but it didn't even have that much of a strawberry taste. Also, it left me so nauseous after. Besides coffee, tea, and specialty drinks, they serve 'Chilaquiles, Breakfast Croissants and Toast, Parfait, and Crepes'. They also have pastries and lunch bites such as 'Chicken Club Sandwich, Salmon Croissant, and Chicken Wrap'. I had their 'Ube Dream' drink over ice which consists of condensed milk, sweet foam, and Ube drizzle. Definitely a treat because this is a very sweet drink, just what I needed. My cousin had an iced 'Matcha Meets Fresa', the fresa mix is made with oat milk which can not be changed as is pre-mixed. Both drinks were delicious! You order at the counter and find an open table if you plan on having your meal there. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, but it gets busy during weekend breakfast hours with a full lobby. The line was to the door but surprisingly, it moved fast. You can also order online and pick up. Service was great. Shootout to 'Froylan', he was extremely welcoming and helpful with the menu as it was our first visit. He even gave us a sample of their 'Café de Olla' served cold, which was interesting. Service was great, but the food and drinks we're disappointing. I am a matcha lover and their iced matcha was not good. It was light green and just tasted like milk. They made the matcha with a premixed matcha base so im not surprised. The green chilaquiles were also not good the salsa was chunky and tasted strongly of garlic. The maya on wheels just tasted like a vanilla latte you could get anywhere else, I didn't really get any horchata flavor. The chipotle chilaquiles were much better. Froylan, one of the owners, was gracious and welcoming, providing explanations to the different beverages offered to all new customers! What I had: Ube Dream - Loved the Ube Drizzle & the condensed milk combo in this drink! Mayan on Wheels - A customer fave because it includes Horachat made in house and topped with crunchy cacao nibs. Berry Patch - Light and refreshing iced tea drink that would pair well with their lunch options. I did a price comparison with Starbucks refreshers and I was able to get a Venti for cheaper than this tea, which is noticeable smaller. Also there no other sizes to choose from with their drinks, there's just one size. Although I got to say they aren't heavy handed with the ice, which I appreciated. Agree with other customers regarding the breakfast and lunch items being quite pricey. I opted to eat at home instead. I did love the community vibe of this place and it's a welcome addition to Chula Vista East. read more

I wanted to like Yaqui Coffee House. I really did. I came in for a coffee and a bacon burrito. The coffee was good, but it was $6 for a pour over. Six dollars. That felt steep. The bacon burrito was what really got me, though. $14.50. For something so small, I thought they handed me the wrong order. I even put a gift card next to it for comparison, to make sure I wasn't imagining things. Barely any bacon inside. And the little bit that was there wasn't even crispy, so it just got lost in the rest of the burrito. Mostly potato. They called it "house potato," but it was just bland, boiled potato. That's all I tasted. They gave me a tiny side of salsa too. It matched the size of the burrito. Which, I guess, made sense. But still. $14.50 for this is madness. Eating in was confusing. When I ordered, they gave me one of those plastic numbers to put on my table. I heard the cashier tell the customer ordering in front of me (an older woman) that they bring your food to you when you dine in. So I figured that's what they did. But they didn't. They called out names instead. The same older customer that ordered infront of me, was sitting outside. An employee went out there and yelled her name. Didn't bring her the food. Just yelled. The elder customer seemed mad, presumably because she was told they would bring her the stuff she ordered. She had a hard time getting up, and the tone the employee used sounded impatient. It didn't sit right with me. And picking up your order? Coffees come out on one side of the counter. Food comes out on the opposite side. Same counter. Nothing in the way. My coffee and burrito were ready at the same time, so I had to make two trips. Not a huge deal, but still odd. Why is everything so expensive here? High cost of goods on eggs? Can't be. The burrito was mostly bland potato. Not much egg. Bacon? Bacon was on vacation. Rent at Escaya? Could be. Or maybe they pass the cost of those cute cactus toothpicks onto the customer? Probably. I wanted to like this place. But between the prices and the disconnect between the staff, I don't think I'll be back. read more

It's a hard YES!!! I'm very particular with my coffee. The hotness, the balance of bittersweet and smoothness... they're all checked!!! I ordered hot Yaqui Mocha latte with non-fat milk and an add-on lavender. Perfect! My husband ordered hot Chai latte and he approved of it too. We had nutella crepe. Although there's a lot of choices. So we will surely try those Chillaquilles, avocado toast, etc. The place has an ambiance of a farmer's market at the same time their coffee mugs are "Mayan" inspired. Very good customer service. Nice new addition to the area. A little off the beaten path, but worth checking out. Mexican theme lattes, traditional espresso drinks, food, indoor/outdoor seating, friendly service, and free street parking. The inside was cozy and had plenty of seating. The only downside was the high ceiling and open space. This made everything echo, from the slight shift of chairs to a cough. The prices for the food items were slightly on the high side, but I found the drinks reasonably priced. I came in on a weekday around 9am, and had the place to myself. I ordered the horchata latte and took a seat to read. Within minutes of me taking my first sip, people constantly came in and formed a line to order. No kidding, I counted, 20 people were either waiting in line or waiting for their order at a time. I found it difficult to read here with the continuous flow of foot traffic. But I was amazed of how popular this place was. I ordered my horchata latte to enjoy there, and appreciated the mug it was placed in. It was a wooden mug with a face carved on the side.
