I have gotten cheesesteaks here a couple times while visiting my Grandmom who lives in the area. It's a tiny little corner deli. She says their cheesesteaks are the best in the area and I have not been disappointed. The prices are reasonable and the service is normally pretty quick. As you can see, I don't write too many reviews because I only write about the GREAT experiences and choose not to mention the others at all. That being said, my wife and I got an Italian hoagie and a cheese steak wit tonight. After trying MANY other sandwich shops in the area, Don's was by far the best !!! Criteria : 1st The Order, was called in and we got exactly what we asked for. Don't laugh people. Seldom is a phone order correctly executed. 2nd Size Matters ! The hoagie had so much ham on top, I thought they gave me the wrong sandwich. I lifted up the ham to find a well loaded Italian hoagie. Plenty of meat, cheese and onions all lovingly chopped and mixed together on the cheese steak. 3rd The bread had just the right amount of "chew". I swear I wish I could minus the star! Giving one star hurt please do not go here! I was a fan of dons since 2008! I have no idea what happen but the professionalism and quality of the store is now deplorable! I received two large hoagies yesterday almost cost me $30 bucks to get home and to my surprise the roll was old, no mayo and the meat ... about six pieces total! I called back to tell the store and they didn't care at all! When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was mocked and told call back tomorrow!! Hell no!!! I generally use Don's every holiday season for their Meatballs and Roast Beef, along with several weekly trips for lunchmeat. Yesterday, 8/26 I had ordered a lunchmeat tray for 15 people and 50 bucket of meatballs. Being Italian, I am very particular to how meatballs taste as I generally make them myself, except for in a rush I would order from here. Yesterday, the 50 meatballs I got were Horrible. No taste at all, very bland like they forgot to add seasoning and bread crumbs. Sauce was like water, with some onions thrown in it.......no thickness to it at all, just like colored water. Was very, very disappointed. Also rolls were a bit hard....not real fresh.... As far as the lunchmeat tray, it was sitting on shredded lettuce that seemed to be very wet. Was really embarrassed when I saw another person carry there lunchmeat tray in from Acme. Very nicely cut, and decorated with grape tomatoes and leaves of lettuce. Not just placed on some wet shredded lettuce. Don't know if new cook or what the issue was but I suggest you get the old chef back. Will have to think long and hard about ordering any meatballs and lunch meat trays from here for a while.. read more

have been getting the roast beef special - 2 orders - for Christmas for 20 plus years. This is THE LAST YEAR I will be getting them. the roast beef was sliced soo thick it was like eating tough steak. terrible roast beef this year. wasn't overly happy with them last year but this year was the last straw. the meat was fat besides being sliced so thick. out of 4 packages - one half of one pack was actually edible. wasted 70 bucks and my guests weren't happy. Plus, the rolls were sliced although not completely through and when you tried to open them, they weren't fresh and they ripped apart and made a mess. Had to go through them all and re-slice them. It's a shame - the lines used to be wrapped around the building on Christmas eve with people picking up orders. No one there anymore and after this year I can see why. Pat B read more

This place has good cheesesteaks but it's a little weird to get to, it gets packed with people very easily. One of the cashiers was a little shady and kept telling me my bank card wasn't working or accepted when I had zero issues using it prior at the place. I went to the Wawa to pull cash and then pay at Don's with the cash and the same cashier asked to see my card when I had handed him the cash already. Place is horrible. Girl screwed up the order. Didn't do the half the things we ordered and when we got there they didn't even try to make up for screwing up so badly. Oh, how I miss Dons living in Florida! They have the best hoagies around, a great lunch meat special, and pretty good cheese steaks, though sometimes they cut them up to fine. A good tip would be to always call ahead. read more

Never ordering here again.. I ordered a large Italian hoagie lite oil Mayo the guy said they was outta sweet peppers.. Which I thought was odd this is a hoagie shop and your running outta stuff your supposed to be stocked up on but ok.. Once I got home the sandwich had nothing on it but meat.. Called to tell them the situation one of the guys put me on hold for the longest time after I told him the situation.. Called back it was the same guy but said he was someone else (With The SAME Voice) Yea ok he was very rude and hung up on me.. Called for replacement and they said "were out of rolls so can't replace it but if you take the ride again and get there before they close they would give u a refund. Been going here for many years and watching it go downhill. After the last several experiences, giving up. Witnessed employees argue with each other and complain about their job. Been chewed out for showing up too early to pick up an order. Ask for something and been refused. I typically get the fried chicken, in a 16 piece portion. Ask for it to be cooked longer so it's crispy. Hardly ever do they do what I ask. Ask for extra coleslaw and told I can't order that over the phone. And last night picked up the food and questioned the size of the french-fry order. Was wrapped in paper, when it has always come in a large container. The kid told me this was how it has always been done. (funny because I have been going there longer than he has) So get home with 16 pieces of chicken, and a single serving of fries. Quality of product, the lack of a friendly staff will keep me from going back. Time to find somewhere else that will respect my business. read more

I think Don's has the best cheesesteak around. All the other items on the menu I have tried but just bites off of my families order because I will never get anything but a cheesesteak with extra cheese and fried onions! The only reason I give four stars out of five is because my husband who is usually the one picking up the order says the wait time is extensive even if you've called ahead of time. I have lived in and around the area for more than 50 years and have often gotten deli meats from "Don's" which are always super good quality and incredibly fresh. Last night I got hot foods there for the first time! I got three "Chicken Cheese Steaks" for the family dinner. First, what a great value for $8. I got the "small's" because they were 12" long sandwiches! Mistake! These were by far the best chicken cheese steak I ever had anywhere around! So delicious the half I was saving for later was fought over by my kids! I had to go back and get a "Refill" so my son who was at work, could get a taste! I will never order from them again. Every single time I place an order, it's wrong! Last night we decided to try them again after ordering last time and getting there to find out the woman who took the order never submitted it to be made so I had to wait another 30 minutes. Last night I ordered a large cheesesteak with ketchup and mayo, it had no ketchup or mayo but had fried onions. I also ordered a large ham and cheese plain that had pickles and sweet peppers. So when I called and spoke to a woman who was supposedly in charge told her I was very unhappy with their service and wouldn't be back ever, she said if I bring them back they would remake them to make it right. Very disappointed with the service we got their yesterday, we put in a take-out order and it was a total disaster.... Their were two orders under my wife name (Sharon) and they gave our order to the wrong one and my wife said ok and they said they were remaking her order now. So the subs were done and waiting for a cheesesteak and like 4 came off the grill and she asked the guy their and he said none of them were hers, he hasn't got to her order yet. So she was very mad needless to say, she waited for 45 min for order to be done.... I have been a customers for over 30 years now. Yesterday I ordered a large cheesesteak and the meat was very dry. No oil must of been placed on the grill prior or it was some sort of horsemeat!! Must of only put like 3 pieces of cheese on a large cheesesteak!!! the roll was stale. Never again, time to search for a new place to order sandwiches. There use to be a guy who worked at the grill, he knew how to cook !!!! The people were very short with me on the phone, and didnt seem to care much about anything. I found Don's a few years ago looking for a new lunch place because I work nearby. Their hoagies and cheese steaks are very good, one of the best in the area in my opinion. Last night was one of my worst experiences. I tried to call a few times but go no answer. We decided to drive there instead. We waited almost an hour to get our two 12 inch hoagies. Meantime, They had run out of 12 inch rolls, so we really got 11 inch hoagies. (22 inch rolls cut in half). Than when I was getting rung up the card reader was unable to read my credit card. The boy on the register wasn't trained properly on how to process the card by typing the numbers in, so I had to go to the Wawa around the corner to take out cash and come back. The whole endeavor took almost an one hour and 20 mins to complete. I hope that they are able to hire and train their employees to work more effectively so that my experience isn't repeated by another unsuspecting customer. read more

Worst hoagie I had in all my life. As a previous customer hoagies were always full & flavorful. Tonight's order was disgusting. A turkey hoagie tonight was a poor excuse for a hoagie. They claim to be the best sandwich on the menu but nothing more than a roll with mayo a few slices of cheese a few slices of turkey. No lettuce tomato onion peppers pickles. Then we ordered the don once again very limited meat,cheese no oil lettuce Tomato onion pickles peppers. Once again an empty sandwich. Actually called deli to complain & was offered no help. It is sad to see Don's falling off in there Hoagie's two times this month sandwichs were made wrong and they said 45 mins, i went there 1 hour 30 mins so I thought they would definitely be done, they weren't even made they forgot to make so I sat there waited another 30 min ( I just wanted my money back but they said they couldn't cause manager wasn't there or on break..BS.) and they made them wrong made to smalls instead of the two large sandwiches I paid for, so I was like just give me back the difference in what I paid, they said no, no, no well just make you two more small ones, totaling 4 small sandwiches cause were out of large rolls, now it's been 2 hours since I ordered so I waited another 40 minutes for the other two sandwiches and when I got home they were all made wrong and were thrown away..my children can't eat hot peppers, oil, and onions, makes my kids sick...They really need to drug test at this play...Or maybe the owner needs to really step up there training..I have been going there since Jerry's place and EandMs were there like 30 years, now I am never going back your loosing $200 a month from my family..Very sad...Good luck.. read more

On every visit up from Florida over the years, Don's was the only place to get our Hoagies and cheese steaks however; on this visit, we were very disappointed (which we were warned). Food, especially the steak, was tasteless. Not sure what they have changed but it's apparent that we need to find somewhere else.
