A cutlet to be chopped up on a sliced completely open sub roll. What a disaster with nothing to bind it together! First time for that and what a mess it was ! Stopped into Wolf's Superior Sandwiches while on a road trip and I really wanted to love this place because the menu is creative and the vibe is promising. Unfortunately, the experience was kind of a mixed bag. I stopped in on Mother's Day and they were really overwhelmed. I'm keeping that in mind for this review. While still giving my experience and feedback. I had ordered ahead but still ended up waiting 40 minutes past my pickup time. That would have been more understandable if the food came out hot and fresh, but the fries had clearly been made earlier and left to the side, so they were cold by the time I got them. You know those sad limp fries that should've been amazing? Yeah, those. There were three young ladies behind the counter, each seemingly working their own station but at completely different paces. It caused a bit of a bottleneck where food was just sitting while one person tried to catch up. The phone was ringing nonstop and there wasn't a clear sense of urgency. One staff member kept stopping to text mid sandwich, which, hey, we all have lives, but it really disrupted the flow and made everything slower. If something was going on, communication with the team would've gone a long way. As for the food: My steak sandwich had zero seasoning. I mean none. The only flavor came from the peppers on it. Two hours later, after reheating it in the air fryer and adding salt and pepper, it was decent. My husband had a cold sandwich and enjoyed his more, so I'm guessing results may vary depending on what you order. I didn't rate the service too harshly because it was clear the staff was overwhelmed, not rude. They barely had time to offer a smile, let alone conversation. Still, I gave this spot 4 stars because I see the potential. The menu looks genuinely interesting, the space is nice, and I imagine on a slower day with tighter processes they probably put out some fantastic sandwiches. This isn't the first time I've ordered from this store and traditionally it is pretty good. This last time is was pretty bad. My sandwiches were literally drenched in sauce. I had to wipe down my sandwich w/napkins and the filling was still falling out of the sandwich. I ultimately just ate the inside of the sandwich even though I paid extra for a garlic bread roll. TOTALLY DISAPPOINTING! I reached out to Slice (where the order was placed) to ask how to leave a review and they reached out to the store (not my actual request) and they were advised "that's how to always make them so there's nothing they can do", which is incorrect because this is not the first time that I've ordered but is the first time I ever received a dripping wet sandwich from them. We made our first trip here as we were in the Neumann University area. First thing I would say is don't let the location fool you. It might be a bit off putting that the restaurant is within a shopping plaza/center, but don't judge a restaurant by it's building! On the note of judgment, I will also say the tables inside also needed a quick wipe down. So why four stars? Well the staff was awesome, very friendly and efficient. It was surprisingly busy with take out orders and actual patrons, all for a lunch on Wednesday. That should tell you the second reason for my four stars, the great food. Everyone that entered and exiting the restaurant definitely seemed excited about their orders. We were so happy that all four of our sandwiches were done so well. We made a few removals from the sandwiches and one was wrong, but we never really get upset about that because we are asking to make changes. Ordered a pizza and a salad for delivery. I waited for over an hour. When it finally arrived, they had forgotten to deliver the pizza. They didn't take any accountability for the error and were super rude like I was inconveniencing them by asking for my pizza. They said it was sitting on top of their oven and that the driver didn't get it (how is this my issue?). I asked if they would make it right, like maybe make me a fresh pizza - the daughter yelled back to her mom "this dude is trying to get something for free" um, I had already paid and didn't receive what I had paid for. I don't believe that is something for free. In sum, poor customer service will always overshadow any cuisine, but to top it all off, the pizza was soggy, over sauced and not good. read more

After having difficulty deciding what to eat for dinner, we landed on Wolf's. We ordered in the restaurant and waited for our order to be ready. We were told 20-30 minutes but we're out in about 15. The dining area was as expected for a mostly take out joint. The tables were all covered in crumbs. The music was uncensored and competing with the tv for volume. I don't think I'd sit in. The FOOD however was delicious! I got the pogo which was packed with so much flavor that I didn't want to stop eating even after I was full! So stinkin good!!!! My husband ordered the Nashville Rebel. It was dipped in Nashville hot sauce which I couldn't eat(I am not a spicy girl). My husband on the other hand DEVOURED it! He said it was so good and spicy. I was excited to see the the menu as I was driving through here and would need to pick up lunch on a Monday and there are not too many places open for lunch on a Monday. I had my reservations when I went in as everything seemed to need a deep cleaning - everything seemed a bit sticky. I ordered the chicken cutlet sandwich -the DiNiro a combination of chicken cutlet, roasted peppers, prosciutto di Parma, pesto mayo, arugula, red onion, Aged provolone, balsamic reduction on a toasted roll. There definitely was no provolone on the sandwich. The cutlet had been precooked and was put on the grill and chopped up to reheat and then placed in the oven which dried out the roll and didn't lend any more benefit to the sandwich. I brought half home and the response from my family member who at that half was that it had potential but failed at execution. Don't think I will be back, even on a Monday. read more

Ehhh. We liked this place in the beginning but our last order wasn't so good and we haven't been back. They forgot an item and had to make a 2nd trip to our house. And we ordered the cheese fries but the cheese sauce was a watery yucky mess and they "couldn't do anything about it" - as quick as they came up with that response tells me they've gotten quite a few complaints about it. First time visiting this sandwich shop and will definitely be coming back. The guys working greeted us immediately upon arrival (whereas a business just a few doors down didn't acknowledge us at all). They were very busy, so the tables weren't cleaned, but we had no problem wiping one off for ourselves. We ordered four different sandwiches and each one was amazing! They have a cool menu with lots of options and creative names to their sandwiches. "The Ashley" was a great vegetarian choice with panko breaded mozzarella, Roma tomatoesX basil aioli, arugula, and balsamic reduction. "The Dalton" was a chicken fried cheesesteak topped with country style sausage gravy. "The Captain America" was a chicken cutlet with capicola, American cheese, tomato, and honey Dijon on a toasted roll (we did ask for no tomatoes, but they forgot). "The DeNiro" was chicken cutlet, roasted peppers, prosciutto, pesto Mayo, arugula, red onion, aged provolone, and balsamic reduction on a toasted roll (we did ask for no cheese, and they did remember!) The tv had The Fresh Prince playing and there were plenty of tables to sit and eat. Fun posters on the wall of some of the Italian greats (Godfather, Sopranos, Goodfellas). Great sandwich place! If you are looking for something different from the usual, look no further! They have so many crazy sandwich combos. However, if you just want a normal sandwich you can get that too. Sandwiches are huge with lots of meat. I could only eat half of mine and even that was a lot. I got the Nor Cal which is roast beef with artichoke bruschetta and roasted garlic mayo. It was very good. A little heavy on the mayo. Next time I would maybe get it on the side. My daughter got the De Niro which is chicken with roasted peppers. It was really good. She knew to ask for the balsamic on the side. Service: Put in the order online - told me a time to pick it up. I waited over 30 mins from the time they told me. And they charge a 3 % "convenience" fee. So I got charged for having to wait an extra 30 minutes. Food: Order 2 Pizzas and a few apps. 2 of the apps sat there the whole time I waited. Were cold when I got home. Both pizzas were burnt on the crust and bottom. The Detroit Pizza was horrible. Bad flavor. Way too much salt and/or garlic. The other regular pizza was burnt on the bottom also. Was in the area and Wolf's, located in a strip mall was in my travels. My first thought when I looked at the menu was Primo's (because of the sandwich names mostly), but with more specialty sandwiches. The regular rolls are Aversa, but pay the extra buck for a Sarcone's seeded roll! The staff was very friendly and we had a great conversation about the sandwich options. They all had passion and thoughts on pretty much the entire menu which was great to hear. Seating wise you can sit up against the store front window or on regular tables. The bathroom was clean, you have to walk through the entire operation to get to it and all their equipment and supplies were organized and clean so that's always nice to see! I had to laugh at myself because I selected a sandwich that was supposed to be on the lighter side and it was freaking huge! I bypassed the larger Big Memphis bbq brisket, smoked gouda mac n chez, jalapenos, onion rings, bourbon bbq sauce for a Pickle Rick bourbon bbq brisket, fried pickles, cooper sharp, garlic aioli (Same price $10.50 that's with the extra dollar). The sandwich was loaded with fried pickle spears, pulled bbq brisket, gooey sharp provolone and garlic aioli. The flavors went well together and it was perfect on that seeded roll. It's a messy sandwich to handle so the fork they gave me came in handy. I'm a sucker for smoked gouda so a return trip is in order for some of their mac n cheese. This place was recommended to us by friends that raved about it. We were excited to try it. It was an extremely disappointing experience. Called for pick up on a Sunday afternoon. The girl that answered the phone was pleasant and professional so it was a good start but it went downhill from there. They are called Wolf's "Superior" Sandwiches but our experience was far from superior. Here's what we ordered and feedback on each: Our biggest issue is that their prices are already out of control and then we were overcharged for two of our sandwiches which to me, is shady and dishonest. The menu says that two of our sandwiches come on a seeded roll yet we were charged the cost of the sandwiches $12 and then an extra dollar for each sandwich for a seeded roll...which is what it came with! (Photos attached) The Ashley - I was told I was unable to get the fried mozzarella for the sandwich so I switched to just regular mozzarella. It looked like an entire loaf if bread. It tasted mostly like bread and a combination of Mayo and the balsamic reduction with a little bit of tomato and mozzarella every now and then. It was edible but it wasn't enjoyable. The Deniro - My husband said it was good but not as good as the place where he orders a similar sandwich in South Philly (which is nowhere near this price point). The So-Cal - My Mom got this one. She didn't care for the cheese on it. It had turkey lunch meat versus carved turkey. Again, $13 for a lunch meat sandwich is a bit outrageous...especially when the price point is much higher than competitors and the competitors are much better. Onion Rings - mushy and soggy - had to be put in the air fryer. Better once in the air fryer. French Fries - had bits of random other fried things in the container, plus a piece of random paper used for wrapping. They were also soggy and had to be put in the air fryer. Our go to spot charges us $3.95 for a pound of fries. Here we paid $5 for wayyyyyy less than that...and they weren't as good. Boneless Buffalo Wing Dings - we ordered hot but were given mild. What we were served was a disgrace (photo attached). They look like burnt pieces of coal. The fact that someone looked at them and thought, "yes, we should serve these to paying customers" absolutely blows my mind. Not only were they charred but they weren't tossed in sauce...they were just sitting in a puddle of it. A puddle that leaked out into the rest of the bag because it was put in sideways. The Winter Salad - This was ok. The dressing was pretty terrible but the rest of the elements seemed fresh. Aston Spin Salad - saved for lunch tomorrow but looked ok. These items added up to almost $86 which is extremely outrageous for sandwich takeout. We don't mind paying a higher price point for things if they are worth it...this was definitely not even close to an $85 experience. We could dine out somewhere for less than that! So this was our meal for the day and it was full of one let down after another with the worst being that we're out close to $100 and didn't really enjoy the majority of what we ordered. I think bags would be better for the fried sides. The onion rings and fries are in those silver takeout containers with the circle lids. They just keep the moisture locked in and it ruins takeout (in my opinion). Other places where fries are sent home in bags, they seem to hold up much better. We don't have a far drive and we didn't pick it up late so they shouldn't have been as soggy as they were. They are only offering curbside pickup and delivery so when we arrived for pick up I called and she brought the food out (with a mask on), brought my credit card in and brought it back out for me to sign. She was very nice, apologized again for not having the sandwich I initially wanted and told us to enjoy our food. The ordering/pickup experience was quick, pleasant and easy. The place is tucked back in the shopping center and there is plenty of parking in the lot. We were really excited to try this new spot and to support a local small business. It's unfortunate that our first experience turned out the way it did. As a result, we will not be returning. We will stick to our tried and true spots that we know offer quality products at a (much) better price point. read more

I drive by here just about everyday for the past 8 months and finally decided to stop in to grab a sandwich. The sandwich choices were huge and very different. After carefully examining the menu, I ordered The Gritty. The Gritty has chopped steak, scrapple, caramelized onions, spicy ketchup and cheese sauce. This was a superior cheesesteak. If I lived in Aston a very high percentage of my meals would come from this shopping center. This cheesesteak had very good meat and a very good amount of cheese. I do wish the cheese was distributed a little more evenly. I see on my receipt 'plain roll'. I assume I could have chosen a seeded roll?? I liked the roll. Was excited to try this place because of all the reviews. Went with a good old fashioned cheesesteak and the Thanksgiving Day sandwich. Thanksgiving day sandwich was good. Some might criticize that it was lunch meat turkey, but not me. I prefer the lunch meat. Personal preference would have been for it to be sliced a little thinner. Ratio of meat and stuffing and cranberry was on the mark. We had a bit of a snafu with the cheesesteak. Once it was re made, it was very good. The amount of meat was good. Perfect amount of cheese so you could taste it. Ok I purposely did not comment on the bread because it deserves it's own discussion. My wife and I couldn't stop talking about how fresh and good it was. The rolls were top notch and held up with the weight of the plentiful fillings. The staff was friendly and attentive. My first cheesesteak appeared burnt and they quickly made another one. Unlike others I'm not going to take away points for that since they quickly remedied the mistake. However had we been picking up to take home then that would have been a problem. I do wish they had some more non carbonated drink offerings. Clearly this place is popular and everyone should try it. I'm new to this area and had seen a lot of buzz online about this place. We checked it out for takeout one night and we were NOT disappointed! In fact, I hate to admit it, we went back for a second night in a row for more! My husband had the DeNiro and said it was fantastic, make sure to get the seeded roll, per his instructions. As for me, I got the vegetarian Ashley sandwich. I'm not a vegetarian, but I might just become one after this sandwich. It's breaded mozzarella, tomatoes, arugula and aioli. I decided on a regular roll as I'm not big on seeded. The Ashley was so flavorful and juicy - the Mozzarella was fantastic! As far as sides goes, we ordered fried pickles and plain fries. While I was greatly excited that the fried pickles were spears, the fact that there were only 5 per order for $5 was kinda disappointing. The fries were greatly lacking in quantity as well, as it was a very small amount for $4. Next time I think we'll skip the sides and stick to the main attractions. Can't wait to try something else - or maybe I'll just stick to the Ashley ;-) read more
