Don't be fooled by the fancy new building. Customer service is horrible. Communication is horrible. They take forever- my car there all day, from 8 am. They said it would be ready by 5 pm, when they close. I rode my bicycle across town to pick it up, only to find my car torn apart, the work not nearly done until after 6-6:30 pm. I missed an appointment. They simply said they were busy. Wow, clearly to busy to call me with an update, or care about their clients. My advice is look around for other service providers. They only care about making money, not developing a loyal customer base. read more

I had heard great things about this place, but I did not have the best experience. I took my Mercedes benz there last week to get the windshield replaced. The car had to be left all day because they currently only have one person available to calibrate the windshields. The issue I had was my car was clean, but upon picking up the car, there was a white residue all over my navigation, instrument panel, and in my cup holders as well. I was in a rush so I didn't have time to go back inside and point it out, but I did call the receptionist and informed her of it. To top it off, my insurance company was charged a "Covid cleaning" fee which the receptionist said is for cleaning that is "supposed" to be done before and after the window installation, but clearly that wasn't the case with my vehicle. read more

Went to drop off a windowpane at 10:15 am, I was told it would take about 30 minutes to complete. At 11:15, I returned to Don's Mobile Glass to pick up my pane, to my surprise, now I needed verbal authorization from my property manager. They called and left a message. I called and spoke with the property manager, she gave the authorization. Now it's 1:25 pm and still no windowpane. It's useless to turn on my a/c, I have no window, it's 91 degrees outside and inside. They lack professional courtesy and are incompetent in completing a task in a timely manner. read more

I had a huge crack in my windshield. I stupidly tried to fit a computer chair in my front passenger seat and the top of the chair hit my rear view mirror and fell off. This also left a crack where the mirror was. Within 3 months the crack went from about 2 inches to 12 inches in all directions. My deductible is $500 so it was much cheaper for me to pay out of pocket. The only reason I gave Don's 4 stars was due to the person making appointments. She gave me a date and then called and said she made a mistake and had to reschedule. No biggee. Then the next day she called and said she made a mistake and the original date was still good. She left the date and time of my appointment on my voicemail. Then I call to find out where Don's is located because she never asked for my address so I started thinking maybe I have an appointment at their location. I then told her I wanted mobile service. I didn't want to wait around while my windshield was being repaired. She rescheduled me for a mobile repair. The day of the repair I had a family emergency so I decided to reschedule. My appointment was for 1p-5p but I didn't want to risk not being home on time with a 4 hour window. I never heard back from her. Around 4pm I had a knock on my door and it was the repairman. Since he was already there and said it would take 1 hour I let him repair the windshield. He was very patient and did a great job. In the future, it would be really beneficial if 1. Someone called to confirm appointment. I made mine around 3 weeks ahead and wasn't even positive about the date or time. 2. Go over the warranty policy and what to expect at the time of my appointment. I'm very happy with the work that was done and would definitely come here again. read more

Never use this company!! They replaced a window in our truck 2 months ago. My husband shut the door yesterday and it completely shattered. Obviously a defective window. Now they refuse to replace it & expects us to pay full price. Lost our business and everyone we know. The truck does not get driven because we are selling it. So yes, it was a defective window. It shattering after simply closing the door... If you'd stand behind your product "100%" we'd have a new window at no charge. That's how companies should stand behind there products. Needed to wait 6 days to get scheduled for window shield to be replaced due to calibration. Since we only have one vehicle we took a taxi home and needed to take taxi back to pick up vehicle. Was told the repair would take 4-5 hours. After 7 hours, have called and left at least 5 messages about whether the vehicle was ready for pickup. Still no return call. This happened when we were wanting to set up repair. It took 2 days before they responded to a phone message and to the email request. If you are going to need service right away Good Luck. Should be a zero star!! Had my windshield replaced 6 months ago and the tech lost a piece of trim that covers the wires that go to the mirror, I let there secretary know that something was missing, they took some pics and said they are having a problem finding a replacement, I went to Modesto Nissan and talked with the parts manager and he said it should be part of the mirror assembly kit but was possibly no longer available as it was a 1 year only option for the loaded model and told me to have dons auto glass call him, dons auto glass decided that they will just buy a new mirror and guess what when the quality control manager showed up to my house he only had a mirror and no trim , he stated he was here to change the mirror, I told him the mirror is in the car just missing the wire trim, the manager grabbed the mirror and pushed it down smashing into the dash cam and knocking it off the windshield, I told him he needed to be more careful and he was lucky that he did not break the dash cam or the window, after that the manager was very unprofessional and started yelling about how they are having a difficult time finding the trim piece and that I'm crazy for making them replace the part they lost, after a few minutes I told him I'm tired of listening to him yell and to get off my property, called dons auto glass and let them know what happened, went to the Nissan dealership in Oakland a few days later and talked to the parts manager there that was nice enough to send me a few pics of the now now longer available part from a customer car , I sent the pics to dons auto glass and let them know that Nissan is telling me that it's no longer available and the only place that I might find one is a wrecking yard and that it's a 1year only item and was only available in the sv model, I let them know and after a few updates that they can't find a replacement they are no longer responding, read more

Sorry Don's, this is my first yelp review ever but you drove me to it! I picked up a rock on my 2016 Golf R, and scheduled a replacement with Don's. Don's has a good reputation, and I have used them before, but unfortunately never again. After my wife brought the car home, I found that the repair tech had damaged my radar detector wiring, and tried to fix it without notifying us. The wire would no longer work, and when looking more closely, the molding covering the rain sensor was loose. I scheduled a time to drive back and let a tech take a look at it. Turns out the windshield was set too low and would have to be re-replaced. They were professional about the issue, but certainly not apologetic in any way. I had to schedule another visit for another replacement. After taking the vehicle home the second time, my wife hit some rain and the windshield wipers nearly flew off the car she said. Looks like they were re-installed incorrectly. Now they want me to make another appointment to have a tech look at it. Poor attention to detail, lacking customer service and empath, and it seems like they support a culture of hiding mistakes from the customer. Off to Safelite for me next time. I will also be talking to friends and State Farm insurance regarding this experience as well. read more

I had a window that needed to be replaced in a 1980s Cadillac and called Don's asking them for service. A nice gentleman answered the phone and said he would try to locate the window as they didn't have one in stock due to the fact that it was vintage. I stated I wasn't in a real rush and he said that he would get back to me. I never heard back so a couple days later I called back asking if he found the window. He said that there was one on eBay but he would keep looking. I asked him how much they would charge if I brought the window in myself and he stated $100. I remember this very specifically. I didn't hear from him a second time so after a few more days I decided to just buy the window on eBay and take it in there because it was really raining a lot and I was getting desperate. The window arrived and I called Don's to ask them if I could bring it in. They stated yes and I did so the same day. When I got there I was told it would not be $100 as originally stated but $270! When I asked why, I was told because the car was vintage and it took more time to replace the window. I stated that someone had told me $100 over the phone and honestly they acted like I was lying to them. I left and returned later that day to pick up the car. When paying I decided to bring up one more time that I really didn't find it fair that the price had changed so drastically from the phone conversation to coming in. The work was done nicely and they got it done in a very reasonable amount of time but I still left there feeling burned. The girl who took my payment ended up giving me $50 or so off because of the discrepancy but again I just felt that I was the one that had to pay for a communication breakdown that I had no involvement in. On top of that I was told that the work would not be guaranteed as I brought the window in myself. Really? So if the guy originally talked to had purchased the window off of eBay then it would be guaranteed? If an employee quotes somebody over the phone and it turns out being almost 3 times that amount and the customer is upset, make it right. Not the customers fault. I probably would not recommend Don's. $270 to replace a window and I had to source the window myself? Crazy read more

A few months later I came into their store for a chip repair. Front desk staff made it easy and your first chip repair is free. The technicians were also nice and were fast.
