    Egg and Cheese

Great spot for donuts, other sweet treats, and breakfast in general. They have a reasonably varied menu with many of the classic breakfast items available to go. I wanted to try a large sampling of the menu, so I ordered the glazed donut holes, egg and cheese sandwich, Boston creme donut, and cherry donut. They did not disappoint. The glazed donut holes came in a solid portion for a great price. They were perfectly sweet without being too overwhelming. Not too dry either. Similar to Dunkin Donuts. The Boston Creme donut was tasty. Solid size and filled with lots of creme. Definitely a classic. The cherry donut was surprisingly good, although a tad bit dry due to it not having any frosting. My favorite item I got was the egg and cheese sandwich. It's served on a lovely buttery croissant. They include the perfect amount of egg and cheese and it's just a very satisfying breakfast sandwich. All in all, I definitely recommend their food. It's reasonably priced and very tasty. The egg and cheese sandwich is especially amazing!

Good little stop for a donut and coffee. The inside has a few tables and was fairly clean. In addition to a variety of donuts, they sell chips, condiments, etc. they even have a deli where you can buy sandwiches or take home deli meat. The staff was friendly and it is run efficiently.

My friend surprised me with a dozen donuts (only a regular dozen--not a bakers LOL) for my birthday! We got a plethora of flavors in our assortment, ranging from the classics like Sprinkled and Chocolate Frosted, to more adventurous flavors like the Cherry and the Maple Frosted. I really appreciated the variety they had. My personal favorite is the Boston Creme, although it is hard to just pick one! So I sampled a few, and they were all decently yummy. Not the best donut i've had, but definitely up there. Very soft, warm, and fresh! Onto the donuts I sampled! The Double Chocolate has a strong flavor, but it was a little dry. It was on par with the average chocolate donut-- no better no worse. The Maple Frosted Donut was my least favorite. It was a generic frosting slightly tinged with maple flavor on top of a plain donut. The flavor did not penetrate through the entire donut. The Boston Creme was amazing, I did not have any complaints. And the other cream ones were definitely the better half of the bunch as the cream compensated for the slightly dry texture. My only big critique is that I am not sure if they were warm due to being in the sun or just being fresh. I was surprised that the delivery person did not knock or do anything to indicate the arrival of the donuts. We coincidentally encountered them on the doorstep, otherwise we would not have known they had arrived. So my only complaint is about the delivery of the donuts.

Got these delivered and the assortment is awesome. The delivery person just left the box on the stoop without knocking so I wish that they would have done that. The donuts themselves are very delicious! Not the best I've ever had, but definitely tastier than your average donut shop. I don't usually go for cake donuts but I will says I thoroughly enjoyed the ones I tried-- hard to pick a favorite flavor! Great for a quick sweet snack

We've been wanting to visit here so long and drove by for years. Finally visited rather than the usual dunkin' donuts. I feel you get more for your money with their sandwiches. About $4.29 for sausage or bacon with egg and cheese which you can get croissant, bagel etc. The donuts are $1.29 a piece, assorted available. We loved their breakfast sandwiches! I only paid about $10-12 I think it was for 2 sandwiches and 3 donuts. The staff are very inviting, friendly and funny! Great place, efficient as well!

Two donuts and a coffee for $3.49! Chocolate and maple iced.

Honestly, not what I was expecting, but was pleasantly surprised! The guy behind the counter was really patient and let us try some donut holes while we decided on our order. My boyfriend and I each got the 'two donuts and coffee for $3.50' deal. The donuts were fantastic -- very light and had great flavor. Together we got two chocolate iced, a maple, and sugar. The sugar and maple were my favorites! He seemed to really like the chocolate. The coffee was pretty standard for a gas station. It was on the stronger side though! The only thing I didn't like was that the caregiver added the milk and sugar for me, I would have preferred to do it myself. This place seemed to be a local favorite. There was an older woman sitting with her husband at a table and I swear she knew everyone that walked into the store. All in all, I had a good experience and wouldn't hesitate to visit again if I'm in the area.

The donuts here are fresh and delicious. The only reason why it is not five stars is because they have nothing with cream or jelly inside.

The Speckled Egg provided the upscale and elevated breakfast, that was a nice contrast to the rustic and local breakfast we had the next day. Our waitress was friendly and professional. After some deliberation, I went with a bowl that included eggs, chicken sausage, sweet potatoes and a nice garnish of dill. The dill surprisingly elevated the whole dish. My wife enjoyed an omelette. He was courteous, well spoken and friendly. We sat there for about 10-12 minutes. No one approached the table. We looked over to what appeared to be a bar area and we saw two servers standing there talking and showing each other their phones. My wife said, "With our luck, one of those two is our server." Sure enough, when they were finally done talking, one came over to our table....no smile and a big audible sigh. She asked what we wanted to drink, we gave our order and she returned with our beverages. After another 10 minute wait she came back to take our order. When asked about a certain dish, came another big sigh, eye roll and and a rote description of said dish. The food arrived and one of the orders was wrong. Another wait to get her attention. We asked for the item to be redone as we had ordered it. And she even asked how we wanted it! You got it...another eye roll and a big sigh. At least she was well oxygenated! The dish came back with the very same results. On that issue we gave up. Then came the wait for the check. Once again the two servers were chatting, no heads turned to check on their tables. My son went over to get the check. When the check arrived, it was attitude city. She accused us of picking on her because she was only a server. It's obviously how she saw herself. We then asked for the manager who was quick to side with the server. She said that nothing seemed to satisfy us and that we had a problem. IN SHARP CONTRAST. I have been to the Speckled Egg on the South Side many times. From the Host/Hostess to the servers to the bus staff, everyone had a smile, chatted with their customers, laughed and it was always a great experience. The manager came over since he recognized me from being there many times and we chatted for a minute. We are talking Night and Day. Completely two different experiences from server to management styles. To me there is only one Speckled Egg and one complete waste of time (Downtown).

SAUSAGE & CHEESE OMELETTE + Lyonnaise potatoes (side) + whole wheat bread (toast) The sausage & cheese (we asked for Swiss instead of American) omelette itself wasn't anything worth raving about as it was pretty typical.
