I could not have been greeted by a more friendly counter attendant this morning! What a charm! Stumbled into here almost by accident, while waiting for another shop on the street to open up for business. Had to take a couple donuts "to go" so I could just get out of the elements of the weather. I'm so glad I did. I learned that all of the donuts are made fresh in house DAILY with real ingredients... and there was a wide variety of options! You can tell just by looking at them, that they're fresh and different than others you've ever tried before. Check them out. Truly, you can tell that these are handmade donuts. Yum! The shop is cute, a bit rustic looking, but suits Carson Street so well. There are some little stickers and nick nacks around the shop, but nothing too crazy, just very particular and with purpose. Please stop in here next time you're around for a visit. read more

Definitely one of my top spots for donuts in pgh. Came on a Sunday, late morning, and got lucky they still had any left as someone had just come and bought 6 dozen donuts. They have a few different flavors whenever I go and I always like to get each one because they are always all delicious. They do sell out sometimes so my recommendation is going early in the morning.(one of my favorite Sunday morning breakfasts) read more

Stopped in on a chilly morning around 930am for a donut and some coffee. I was pleasantly surprised by how beautifully decorated this small space is! The huge window looking over the street lets in a lot of light and they have some plants and decor scattered around. There are a couple seats available along the window and a table or two near the counter. The staff were super friendly and offered to warm our coffees before we left! The donuts were somewhere between a traditional donut texture and a cake donut. They were pretty big and not super dense. I had the lemon shortbread and it was bright and citrusy and not too sweet. For the donut and coffee, I paid around $4.50. I heard someone come in and pick up a half dozen for $10.70. Bathroom was clean! read more

I honestly don't know why people rave about these. Maybe I just love donuts with like icing on top like a moist donut, so if that's what you like don't get these. But also it's a bar which I didn't realize haha which seemed very nice and everyone was sweet but I just wasn't crazy about the donuts tbh read more

OMG! Sooooooo gooood!!! Airy pillow of yummies... Picked up fresh Easter donuts this am! Just look.. yes they taste as good as they look ...and the smell...yum! I pre ordered these babies when Drew put out the post on Facebook... we go to the Pub chip shop for Fish and Chips ( you have to try that too) .. Just Good Donuts is also inside - and hint - while it says they are open till 8 - go early as they sell out fast and once they are gone - they are gone. This was my first time preordering the donuts... so glad we did! Their website is easy to use and the pick up is easy. Right now you walk in ( one person at a time in the shop but it goes fast) give your name they bring your box up and you out. This am I was in and out in under two min. The staff is so friendly too! Make you really feel they appreciate the business. Those are the places you really wants to support and see succeed on the other side of this virus. Oh my goodness Such yum donuts! Went there one morning not knowing what to expect as I've only been in the shop during dinner hours...well if donuts are on your list go get some these are the best in Pittsburgh From the Black Forest to the caramel apple The donuts are all beautifully decorated Look at my picture These babies are not greasy they are a bit more cake like Caramel apple with thick not to sweet frosting dried apple chunks and caramel drizzle it'sa fall treat each mouthful 15 dollars a dozen are really a good deal for these really good donuts read more

Wow! Yummy! Right now I'm sitting here and could go for another one of these. I rarely eat donuts but always sag if I am going to it better be a damn good donut. These did not disappoint. I had heard about this place and been following them on social media for a while. Several flavors they posted looked delicious. I just hadn't made it down. We happened to be on the Southside anyway one morning so it was the perfect excuse to stop in. The donuts are all on display on the counter. The woman working was friendly and offered advice on flavors as we were deciding. It was quick and easy to pick up a few donuts to go. We decided first on the peanut butter bomb. We both love chocolate and peanut butter and had been seeing this on Facebook for a while. It was a peanut butter frosting along with Reese's and Butterfinger. It was very good but also very sweet and rich. Next we decided to try the pumpkin donut since it is seasonal. I am so glad we did and that is the one I have been craving ever since. The pumpkin frosting was flavorful but light and airy. The graham cracker crumbs gave a nice little crunch. The donut itself was delicious too. It's not close to me so I won't go here often but I will definitely be back. Some of the best gourmet donuts I have had for sure. read more

Rolled up for National Donut Day last Friday and was not disappointed! Since Allegheny County had just gone 'Green' for Covid-19 the evening before, there were tons of people out and about but gratefully their line moved through pretty quickly. I'm a big cake donut fan so I asked the wife to get several (she got 5) and then rounded out with 3 regular glazed as well. Since it was towards the end of the day the selection was kind of small, but that's on us, and just makes me want to go back even more to try some of the other options! We will definitely be back before the next National Donut Day! read more

Stopped in here (located inside Pub Chip Shop!) on my long-time mission to find the perfect glazed donut ever since the creator of my all time favorite closed permanently during covid :( and unfortunately I still didn't find it but it came pretty close! These folks make some damn good donuts, prepared fresh daily. They had five flavors today and I got three of them: glazed, sugar, and chocolate shortbread, which has chocolate icing and crushed shortbread cookies on top. I forgot to take a picture before inhaling the glazed donut, oops! Lol. But I made sure to show off the chocolate shortbread because that's not a common flavor and I specifically ordered it just to see what it was like- did not regret it one bit! The vibe in here is cool and the staff was friendly. Will be back! read more

Really should be called stupid good donuts. This is my favorite donut shop in pittsburgh. The staff is really friendly as well and do a great job following covid guidelines and making sure everyone is safe. This is what you get when you do something you love and you do it to the best of your ability, and its totally apparent. So far my favorite are the pb bomb and any seasonal jam donuts. I don't know what kind of jam they use but its fresh and it makes a huge difference. read more

Another brilliant concept from the Piper's/Pub Chip Shop folks. I'm not a donut eater per-say. However, given the opportunity I will chow down. The glazed donut is like pure goodness melting on the tongue. The flavors will send your palette in a frenzy with overwhelmingly delicious awesomeness hitting your taste buds and tummy. And the cinnamon rolls...holy sweetness, kids. Absolutely scrumptious. I can't even finish half donut or cinnamon roll in one sitting. read more

The donuts were just okay but the breakfast sandwich from the The Pub Chip Shop was five stars. We had a cinnamon roll and a yinz Creme, I'd give both three stars. You order off of both menus simultaneously and there are only three stools for seating. Everyone I saw carried out. read more

I like how the donuts are served on a first come basis and once they're out, they're out. The donuts are definitely worth waking up early for. My friend graciously ordered me some donuts for me to pick up for a holiday potluck. I was in a rush, so I ran in and the people that helped me already knew what the deal was. I gave them my name and they smiled and gave me the dozen donuts with no questions. Out of the dozen, I tried the bacon topped maple filled donut. It was delightful! The donut is generously filled and the bacon that tops the donut is also maple glazed. Yum!! I would definitely give this place another try. I would compare these donuts to peace love little donuts. However, Just Good donuts are a little better and larger in size. read more

This place is a gem that has struggled through the shut down and kept as many people working as they could, including their donut maker! You can see how beautiful they all are in other peoples pics, but this is the only pic I could snap before they were gobbled up by some of our favorite small businesses. I myself tried the jam filled sugar coated variety, the sugared, and the glazed cinnamon roll. Yes. Yum. None are greasy or leave that strange coated feeling on your tongue like some other local favorites. They are incredible. You can order online easily for pickup but we popped in and it was quiet and they put together 2 dozen assorted quickly. read more

Don't be fooled by the outside- It's a pub grub spot AND a donut shop. (Thankfully they have a donut sign in the front for dummies like me.) Stoped in as I was craving a donut and coffee. I'm not a fan of DD donuts as they are never fresh. Well very satisfied with the glazed donut from Just Good Donuts. Had a hint of lemon to it which I liked. Also ordered a black coffee. And the coffee tasted very good, smooth and no bitter after taste. Didn't taste burnt either as if it was sitting on the warmer all morning. I almost gave it 3 stars. They are still in Covid mode. Can't even step foot in the establishment. It's April 2021, time to move past the extreme restrictions. read more

Donuts. Who doesn't love donuts?! This place is really easy to miss because it's a two in one restaurant. I bought a half dozen to bring home while on lunch and was so excited to try them! Their flavors were intriguing (peanut butter bomb, Black Forrest, chocolate chip cookie dough...) and the guy behind the register was really helpful and chatty. As much as I enjoyed chatting and picking the donuts, I was disappointed with them. They tasted stale just a few hours after I bought them. Maybe try them first thing in the morning? I noticed they only make a certain amount and they keep them on a rack behind the register, so they'd probably been sitting out all morning to begin with. read more

These donuts remind me of a donut shop in Philadelphia called Bailers in Reading Terminal. Not a cake donut but a more light fluffy airy donut great for toppings. I am a glazed cake donut gal, so I wasn't surprised when I wasn-t into the glaze, but the blueberry pop was fun and the filling was great. read more

Super cute little shop with fresh donuts! Get here early, they sell out pretty quick! Was visiting this past weekend and walked here around 9am on Saturday and was one of 3 people in here surprisingly. Was going to order two single donuts but seeing the array of variety I went with a half dozen. They were excellent! Only one of the six we weren't a fan of, but to each either own. Of all the donuts I've tried in Pittsburgh, Just Good Donuts is the best. It's a combination of its location, the very friendly service by Pub Chip Shop, and the quality of the donuts. They have fun options and it's sold on a first come, first serve basis. There have been days when I stopped by at Noon and everything was gone and other days when I went after work around 5pm and still had a couple options. It's truly a gamble but it's worth swinging by if you can or calling ahead of time to find out what they have left. My favorite is the maple vindaloo bacon- a spicy twist on a combo that is becoming increasingly popular. The cinnamon rolls are also a great choice. Sometimes I get overwhelmed by the toppings on the other options, but I believe that's a good problem to have. The prices are very reasonable ($7.50 for half a dozen or $1.50 for one). read more

I've been seeing photos of Just Good Donuts on Instagram for a few months and I had to give them a try. They looked like they had such interesting flavors so I thought surely they had to be good. I was unfortunately pretty disappointed. My donut didn't taste fresh and it just wasn't all that flavorful. I ended up throwing most of it away. I was expecting a lot more. Brought in donuts for the office and there were lots of flavors to choose from. The donuts are a little dense and weren't very light and fluffy like I typically like. However, they were still good. The toppings were a little overwhelming on some. I had the chocolate chip and couldn't even finish the whole donut. It was super sweet. The glazed and cinnamon roll donuts were much better. I think because there wasn't a mountain of toppings on top. Overall everyone seemed to enjoy the donuts. read more

Probably the best donuts I've had in Pittsburgh. Staff is always super helpful. I was greeted, asked if I had any questions, and I was told what donuts were going out of season and which new ones were gonna replace them. I can always leave the selection up to them because any donut is a good donut. Definitely would recommend if you're gonna buy any for a small party of people. read more

Always glad to see a new donut spot, especially one from the geniuses behind The Pub Chip Shop. After drooling over their Instagram photos for a couple of weeks, my wife was able to swing by and pick up a couple donut options including the buckeye and an orange cream (?) donut, both traditional yeast raised. They were both beautiful to look at, and I love a good buckeye donut. Initial impression is that the buckeye donut was not soft (compared to the orange cream which definitely was). In fact, it tasted stale, which was unfortunate. The chocolate was very rich and a little bit bitter, which I enjoyed. The peanut butter was overly salty, and overall the donut needed a little sweetness. I'm hoping for just bad luck in this case. The orange cream donut just fell flat for me, unlike the other donut it was plenty soft by the filling was so sweet and tart and left an unfortunate taste in my mouth. I plan on going back to try the cake donuts and some other varieties. I have full faith that this place will end up being great, just might need a little work here to start. read more

Now, if someone else brought them to an event and had them available - I would not scoff don't get me wrong, I'd have one (maybe two). I just can't get on board with this place philosophically. The mystique and purposeful scarcity of both selection and what leads to closing quite early is at this point trivial. But it appears the scarcity is the appeal. This is (currently) the NFTs of donuts. We got an assorted dozen and my wife and I were both of the mind "these are all average." Though we were aligned and agreed their Old Fashioned donut is the standout. That one is extremely cravable. Frankly, our experience left so much to be desired that we're content not to go back. I'd recommend not wasting your time either.

Starting in 2008, PLLD has taken Pittsburgh by storm with franchises popping up all over the area but the true start is right here in the Strip District... well two doors down, but who would fault them for moving into the corner spot when it became available. As humble of beginnings, the owner bought a donut machine from a friend's garage that didn't seem to work quite right. Finally working, all that could seem to be produced were this little donuts. Fast forward six months to the owner realizing he installed one component backwards... but the craze of little donuts had already been born! The shop is funkadelic! With the constant parade of fresh mini donuts being fried and topped right in front of you - you can be assured that yours will be hot and fresh. The toppings are always changing and they have display donuts right in front of you so you can eye up which you want to devour! Plus with mini donuts, you can grab quite a variety and tell yourself that 4 or 5 of these would equal the calories of a normal donut... right?! The employees greet you with a fresh cinnamon sugar donut to sample - a tradition that started last June on National Donut Day and they just never seemed to stop! For our Strip District Food Tour, we each got a little donut. We chose the Elvis, Dirt, Chocolate Chip Pancake, and Tres Leches. What a glorious little bite! Perfect combos of sweet and salty - that are almost as pretty to look at as they are to devour!
