Great Experience @ Donut Country in Medford, OR. !! I called this establishment the afternoon before my visit to see what kind of 'smaller sized' sweet treats they had available for purchase. A friendly employee let me know about their selection of donut holes and cake donuts compared to the usual 'average sized' irresistible selection. I also asked about current hours of operation and she relayed the early access drive-thru hours, as well as store walk-in times. This area was pretty busy between 7-8 am on a weekday and I wasn't surprised at the many patrons quickly coming and going through their drive-thru. I opted to go inside to see all of the goodies up close! What a great neighborhood shop! Of course, the familiar aroma of an American staple such as the classic donut filled the air and brings a delightful sense of happiness to you first thing in the morning! Although I was very tempted to go crazy with getting one of everything!!, I controlled myself and opted for a couple dozen seasonal pumpkin donut holes (cakes donut consistency) and several bags of classic glazed donut holes to share with some very satisfied people. I'm in Medford for a few days, so I decided to give Donut Country a try. The place was very easy to get to and they have a private lot which made parking a snap. They also have a drive through window which is very cool, but I decided to go inside to order. Luckily they weren't very busy and there was only one person ahead of me. I thought the inside was clean and they have several tables where you can sit down to enjoy your food, but I took my order to go. I picked six donuts that looked good to me, but there were no signs or descriptions, so I'm not sure what they were exactly LOL. The person helping me put all of them into a paper bag (instead of a box) which I thought was weird and made it more difficult to eat/share them. Overall, I thought the donuts tasted good and they were soft and fresh! Also, I thought it was super cheap compared to Seattle. I would definitely come here again. read more

I pulled up to Donut Country and the front doors were closed, but the drive through was open. My kiddos & I pulled up and had to guess what they had because there is no menu at the drive though. I get they have your typical donuts, but I feel like you should treat every person coming in as if they've never been there before(especiallysince it was my first time). After asking if they had everything available, they responded with, "well, what do you like?" I did laugh and say it's a little hard to order without a menu or seeing everything like we usually do at a donut shop so I kindly said he going to have to be patient. Oh, no croissants. This is our family's go-to donut place. We tried out a couple other donut places in Medford, and this one by far has the better tasting donuts. I've not disliked a single donut from here. They all taste great. There usually are long lines here in the morning because of how popular they are, but I don't mind that. The staff can at times come across as a little rushed while helping you, but I think that's just because of the volume of customers that they get all morning. (And I get that--I used to work at a coffee shop that had a constant morning rush and it's easy to get caught up in it when the line is long in both drive thru and in store.) Decent donuts but definitely not worth the 30 minute wait. Jelly donuts are ok. Raspberry filling can be improved rather than the processed stuff. Custard and lemon is good. The best things on menu are the specialty items like apple fritter, bear claw, etc. but in general i would go to any other place for a donut bar. Also to note is that I've asked for a receipt the times I've visited but they just give the CC statement but never a receipt of the food I bought? This was my favorite donut shop. But I was really disappointed yesterday. I purchased a dozen donuts, six glazed and six raspberry jelly filled. The freshness and taste were great as always but someone doesn't know how to fill the jelly donuts. Three jelly donuts had barely a trace of jelly and the other three had a thumb nail size of jelly. Hubby and I tried the drive-thru at 10:30 on a week day morning. They were out of all of the best sellers - donut holes, raisin squares, bear claws, apple fritters, maple bars, chocolate old fashioned, buttermilk bars.....the list goes on. I realize this is considered "late" morning, however, this is a shop that sells only donuts, to be out of all of your best sellers this early is definitely bad for business. We were not impressed. The 2 donuts we did get were passable, but not worth the effort to try again. We used to be loyal DC customers, but the donut quality and service has definitely declined. Luke's Bakery on Roberts Road has donuts and assorted pastries that are consistently superb, plus he does custom orders. We'll be taking our business there from now on. read more

Despite how popular Donut Country was, I can say I've had much better donuts elsewhere. The dough was not light and fluffy like yeasted dough should be. The service was super friendly and they had a steady stream of customers the whole time we were there, but I love yeast donuts that are a heavenly dream of soft fluff, but these ones weren't suited to my expectation. The buttermilk donut was okay, but it was a bit plain and there wasn't anything about it that made me want to keep coming back to it. I liked the idea of the maple bacon bar, especially after just having tried Voodoo Donut in Portland, but the original was definitely better than this one because of the base dough problem. The coffee is cheap and if you dine in, it's $0.25 less than if you do a take out coffee. There was plentiful seating and they have a pretty nice bathroom. It's a decent place to hang out for a little while, so I recommend this Donut Country in lieu of a cafe if you're inclined to a different atmosphere every so often. I guess my standards are higher than those folks who give them high marks. The donuts are just like any others, but really it's the counter help that needs to be flushed. These young ladies would rather not be working, is my only guess. One nearly TOSSED my change to me the other day, which was "the final straw", for me. I'm done with DC.
