My new go to Donut Place! There was one a bit closer to home but lately their quality/service slacked. Decided to make the extra 5 minute drive to this place and now it's my Donut home! The owners are very nice and the elder lady even knows me now! Sometimes they have day old boxes filled with 20 or so random donuts and they stayed fresh for almost three days after I bought them. Very good donuts. It seems to me however that nearly all of the donut shops that I visited during my California vacation (of which there were many) were of the same taste, texture and quality. I think that there must be one or two major donut manufacturers in the area and they are supplying all of the donuts to all of the area shops to resell. I don't think any of the shops I visited (with the exception of "The Donut Man" actually MADE their donuts...which is a shame really. But again, the donuts at Donut Maker were good, fresh donuts but you won't find anything mind blowing or out of the ordinary. read more

Our kids have a family tradition there let me explained ; when ever it rains we go get donuts and Chris is always there to help my kids make this tradition even more special. The regular glazed donut was so light and fluffy in texture. Best I've had. The bf really liked the blueberry. I've had better blueberry at M&Ms and The Donutery. Don't get the churro. It's not fresh and they just throw it in the microwave to heat it up. Prices aren't bad though. The cashier was friendly. read more

Visited this place about 5:30 Amish Sunday morning 9/18. Just one other customer. The shelves were pretty full. Lady was OK as far as service went. Got an Apple Fritter, Maple Bar, lemon and strawberry filled, cake donut with chocolate and a couple fruit filled burritos. Apple Fritters are my taste test for a donut shop. This one was average. But, most of the apple was in a lump in the center so the apple bits were not spread thoughout the fritter as I like. Maybe I got a defective one? My son was not up to snuff so he only ate a couple rather than the majority. I ate both fruit filled burritos later that day. They are full of fruit( apple and blue berry if I recall) They are tasty but they really are burritos, ie a flour tortilla wrapped around the usual donut fruit fillings. They are deep fried and that makes the tortilla a bit hard. Maybe my gums were a bit sensitive that day(a stuck pop corn kernel) but these burritos are a little painful to eat. Maybe if they were warm when I ate them they would have been better. I also ate the lemon filled donut, it was tasty. The maple bar was eaten a day later so not a fair test, but the maple covering was rather thin. I notice that the last few donut places I have tried, the maple was thin. What happened? Used to be the maple coating was thick enough to resole your shoe, but now it is almost painted on. My son loves maple bars, but he didn't even try this one since he wasn't up to snuff and the coating was thin anyway. It has taken him several days to whittle down the cake donut with chocolate, so I will assume it wasn't that good. He said the strawberry filled was average. So just an average donut shop with the usual selections except including the fruit burritos. For large families or say a church social, the bargain boxes are huge. Wild guess is you get 2 dozen mixed donuts in a box. This week I tried another shop and will review that after I eat a few. read more

Some while after this place opened, my wife said, "You ought to go there". Once I did, I realized why. A wonderful selection of excellent variety. Not just donuts, either. I readily and often enjoy the amazing peanut butter and jelly bear claw. They have ham and cheese croissants, ice cream, muffins, and all of that! This place is open at 4 AM!...The coffee is supurb! Did I say it was a nice place too? They always like to decorate for the holidays here. It is very clean, and the owners are such nice, and helpful people. Be prepared to know what you want, this good stuff can often sell out before closing at 10 PM. If there are any leftovers, you can come in the next day for a giant box of Day - Old variety for only five bucks! I think this is, by far, the best anywhere around. Negatives: it can get very, very bus (yes, it's popular), especially on weekends, but the crew there works pretty swiftly, so the wait is not much. I've lived in this area for nearly sixty years now, and I advise like my wife once did: YOU OUGHT TO GO THERE! read more
