Found our way to Donut Makers for the first time for some Christmas Eve breakfast treats. Service was efficient and there was a good selection of donuts to choose from upon our visit. We ended up getting a half dozen donuts: traditional glazed, boston creme, and jelly filled. All were tasty and fresh. The texture was perfect for each one we tried. Decided to go there anyway since it was within operating hours, and they were actually open. 4 Stars. Located in a strip center south of the 210 Citrus exit. Great donuts - I picked up a dozen of mixed for a client and I tried the chocolate glazed. It was heavenly tasting, fluffy and fresh. Also tasted the apple muffin but it was a dry, hard and flat tasting so I'd suggest sticking with the donuts. Maybe they don't make the muffins here? I rarely ever give a rating under 4 stars even if the food was ok; as long as the service is good, it makes up for it somewhat in my mind. Service is huge for me. This was my first time at this donut shop and the reviews seemed well so I decided to go. Upon entering, I see I am the only person here so I'm glad I can take my time at this new shop. An older lady comes out from the back and asks how many I want without reciprocating a welcome. I am very polite and with a smile, tell her it's my first time here and I want to take my time. She tells me, "I'm so busy" with an annoyed attitude. I understand it's early morning, but that's not how costumers should be treated. The vibe was off putting. I picked two donuts and when I go to pay I see that you have to make a minimum $3 order to use your card so I tell her I have to get one more which annoyed her even more because costumers started to come in. I noticed she didn't welcome them either. I go to pay again with my card and for some reason it didn't work and this is the first time that happened to me so I was confused. She irritatingly pointed to the receipt and said, "Look! See! It says declined" in front of everyone. This was really embarrassing and extremely unprofessional. I ask politely to try again, so she does it one more time. Something was up with the machine and she said my card didn't work again with an attitude. I replied ok that's fine, let me use cash, and then as I'm pulling out my cash, the machine accepts my card. She crumbles up my receipts and gives them to me. This altercation was disappointing to me. This isn't how you should treat costumers especially first timers. The donuts were alright. They were big but nothing out of this world. I got the ones that were filled and they were filled generously so that's a plus. I just wish the service and interaction would have been better. This is something that should be worked on. Some of the best donuts that I have ever tasted. Made fresh daily you can get 1/2 dozen for $5 and a dozen for $8. They also offer day old donut boxes with a dozen for $5 (haven't tried them but they look really good. They have some novelty donuts that I think kids would love, vanilla frosted with fruit loops or Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal sprinkled on top. I don't know what happened to this donut place, but I'm crossing this place out of my donut list . Years back the donut was good. Last weekend the donut was so oily that I ended throwing them out. I couldn't not eat it as it was so soggy and donut was soak in oil. The texture has definitely changed for sure. There are a ton of donut places here in the Riverside/MoVal area and I've tried them all; they taste like every other donut you would eat in America. You know what separates most donut places from each other? The level of staleness. Donut Makers is a level above all other donut shops, because their dough has a different texture.
