Everytime I drive through Woodland Park, I see donut mill. And I finally decided I HAD to try it because it was too tempting not to! Classic donuts. Nothing crazy, but everything done well! Not pictured is the classic glaze and chocolate glaze donuts (the cakey ones). I think those were better than the strawberry. The strawberry classic donut was in my opinion, too sweet. Too much glaze. It was a bit much. But the other two were perfectly fried and had a great texture. A little crumbly, but moist. The spot smells the second you are near it. It's heavenly! And the pricing is really good in my opinion. I mean, at least for what I was used to back in Washington DC. The cashier was nice and quick. He helped us out because we had never been before. Although I wish they put little signs up so we could see what each flavor was. I got tired of asking what each donut flavor was!! I'd come back if I'm in the area. Stopped in the first time today because my daughter wanted donuts while exploring. My daughter and I were confused by the frosting as it was cracked and breaking off the tops of the donuts. They also seemed dry. The young people working the counter said the donuts were made fresh that morning. With their comments about freshly made we had high hopes for great donuts. We got a strawberry glazed with sprinkles, a chocolate filled with cream, raspberry filled, and one cake doughnut (which hasn't been touched). I will say staff was polite and the place was clean. It was a rustic looking shop with several seats for dinning in. The donuts were large. It was $15 /4 donuts. Not sure if we'll give it another try when we're in that area. we were craving a cinnamon roll so bad on our lil adventure out there and saw this place while we were driving and had to stop by! we parked and there are a lot of cool shops around to pop by and take up time before/after a sweet treat! the line was kinda long but went by surprisingly fast with inly two workers :D we ended up getting a cinnamon roll, and apple fritter and a scoop of root beer ice cream :) there was a park nearby that we enjoyed our treats at and it was literally the perfect day out the cinnamon roll took 2 days to eat and i miss it, i cant wait to go back!! read more

The Donut Mill has been around for a long time, and has a legacy of serving up huge, delicious donuts. My mom grew up in Colorado Springs and when I told her we were staying around Woodland Park for our vacation she mentioned this place as one of her favorites from back in the day. Once she mentioned it, I remembered the handful of times she took us as kids to get a donut while out and about exploring, so naturally I decided to take my own and grab some one morning before we ventured out. It was midweek when I stopped in and there was only one other person in line, so it was a pretty quick trip. There was a decent selection and I picked up an apple fritter for myself, let my daughter pick a huge twist donut, and got a pretty standard donut for my husband. They were all very tasty. The only reason I'm giving 4/5 is because there were parts of my fritter that were raw and that was a bit of a let down. The flavor was good though, and I chalked it up to a mistake. The other donuts were great. If I'm in the area again I'd for sure give them another try. read more

The bear claw- Perfection 10/10 Apple fritter- Also delicious, some parts can be a little less sweet so if that sounds like your thing then this is a good fit for you 9/10 Bacon fritter- Good for those who have wacky taste and like that sort of thing. I think it's wild the Donut Mill doesn't have 5 stars. You cannot get more fresh, old-fashioned, comforting donuts anywhere else. The value is incredible. This bear claw (which they're known for) could easily be shared. The staff is so kind. We will be back! read more

I've been wanting to try the donut mill for such a long time! It's located in woodland park, so it's a great place to stop after a hike or a trip. After looking at fall foliage, I figured it was finally time to have a donut. They're open all day, although the selection seemed slim when I went in the afternoon so I figure it's probably better to come early. There were only a few options (sadly no jelly donuts), so I tried a maple glaze. They have a $5 credit card minimum so I also added on a donut hole. The flavor, texture, dough puff and sweetness were all perfect. I didn't think it was too sweet and I didn't crash from sugar afterwards which usually happens to me! The inside is very cute with lots of seating and nice restrooms. They also offer ice cream, beverages and food items! This is a great place for a sweet treat. read more

The coffee is pretty good, comes in a compostable cup and optional little creamers/sugar on a small bar next to the self-serving station. The burritos are alright. The sausage one is good. Stopped here on our way down from the mountains for a sweet treat. The donut selection was small, but the ones they did have were very good. I got the apple fritter because those are my favorite, and it was amazing. It's much bigger than expected, and because of the size, it counts as 3 donuts when buying multiples. I wanted some fresh donuts and was kind of expecting an array of choices. However today it was maple, chocolate, and plain. They also had a HUGE cinnamon roll but it was way too big. I ended up with a maple donut, mint choco milkshake and a cone for the little one. Doughnuts tasted really good! Despite my initial reaction to not having more choices, I was happy with what I picked. My milkshake took a while -probably 10 minutes!- for the guy to make though, it held up the line so another employee from the back had to come up and help get the line back down while he made it. Donut Mill brightened my day! We made a day trip to Breckinridge, CO from the Colorado Springs area. That morning, we had stopped at a gas station with a Dunkin Donuts location. I was so disappointed because Dunkin was totally out of donuts!!!! We spotted the Donut Mill at Woodland Park on our way to Breckinridge so we immediately pulled into their parking lot. Quaint and charming donut shop they have. It is not one of those fancy looking donut shops, but they do have lots of indoor seating available. They make some HUGE donuts here! Specifically, those bear claws, apple fritters, glazed twists, and cinnamon rolls were really large. Prices range from the $1 range to almost $5. They have day old donuts too. I tried a Maple glazed donut which was still yummy despite being a day old. My wife's glazed twist was also good. I was a fan of their Apple Fritter, but my friend was not. The custard filled chocolate bar that I had was also delish. So happy to have found the Donut Mill! Wonderful donut shop for the locals, and for travelers passing by! read more

The Donut Mill is a tough place rate with stars because there are 3 different experiences to be had here.... The ***** (5 star) is for the quality of the dough in the donuts. My group tried the bear claw, long john, and apple fritter. All were very good. The **** (3.5-4 star) was the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were a good texture and the portion of the meal was great. The gravy was well made and the consistency was great...only drawback for some is it is what some describe as oregano heavy in flavor. I thought it was more peppery; but, my group's consensus was it tasted like Italian food, so I'll go with that. The ZERO-stars was the sausage breakfast burrito. We had 2 in our group and both were awful. Everything on the inside was dried out and just inedible. Both burritos seemed like they might have been under the heat lamp for hours, if not since yesterday. Other patrons seemed to enjoy other items on the menu. We spent nearly $40 for two apple fritters, four raised chocolate donuts and butter cream filled pastry. They looked great. The taste was missing. I mean there was no taste.
