Been coming here for years great deal on donuts 7.50 a dozen cant beat that My favorite is the cinnamon swirl roll awesome and the coffee is great always fresh I'm afraid to buy a dozen because I live alone and would eat them all myself . Their donuts are great. Coffee is cheaper than other bakeries around (iced coffee is only $1.5 and other places charge at least $2). However, sometimes the wait can be very long since most of the time they only got one person taking order. read more

Okay, first off, I want to say that these donuts are good, at least a step above Dunkin Donuts. However, I also have to say that after reading all the rave reviews here about how these are "the best donuts in Brooklyn," or the "best donuts in NY City" I have to admit I feel a little let down. Now, let me be clear that this is not the fault of the store and is not an indictment of the quality of their donuts. These donuts were fine, very good even. I guess I walked into the little shop on Avenue U expecting some mecca of confection heaven. Honestly? Many regular bakeries make better donuts than this place. Again, that is not a bad thing, because some of the bakeries I have eaten donuts at made ungodly good ones. So again, there is no crime in being just very good. I went out for a late night bike ride today. I do my cardio on bike and rollerblades and on the way home I stopped here. One thing I was amazed at was the price. I ordered a half dozen donuts, each one different. The guy charged me a mere $3.50. This absolutely blew me away. I believe Dunkin Donuts are around a dollar each? These donuts are definitely better than Dunkin (which to be honest are good too) and they are half the price! So while I am a little disappointed because the reviews here had me expecting much more, let me say that the next time I am on my way to a friend's house for dinner or need to stop for donuts so as not to go to an invited dinner empty-handed, I will stop here instead of Dunkin Donuts which is where I usually stop to just grab a dozen or two for some party. So, again, please, if you are reading this review, DO NOT take this as if I am not recommending the place, because I do recommend it. I just think that Yelp reviews for this one are a little overrated is all. ;) read more

I'm too lazy to be a yelper, but I just moved to the area and been here a few times. Each time I've had the freshest and tastiest donuts. Never disappointed. I want to be a regular , but the problem is if I'm a regular, I am going to pack on those lbs because of those Boston kreme donuts. Better and cheaper than Dunkin. 5 Stars. read more

I don't know how this place has an A rating from the dept of health because it is completely dirty. Everything is filthy the floors walls the racks where they keep the donuts look like they haven't been cleaned in weeks. There is actual litter on the floors like it's the subway station that is next door. read more

The donuts here are delicious and always soft! I used to get my donuts from dunkin donuts but after finding this place there's just no going back to dunkin. Donut shoppe tastes better and is cheaper! I was driving by and decided to stop for a quick breakfast. I placed my order with a lady behind the counter. I have to say that she has one of the worst attitude towards customers. What an enormous disappointment for a place my wife sampled and loved this past week (her colleague brought their donuts to work). I arrived around 8:30 am today to get donuts for my daughter and her friends sleeping over. Selection was atrocious- 4.7 varieties, not 47! - with indifferent service who perhaps (in fairness) pulled a night shift. Total was $19 for some of the WORST TASTING donuts I have had in 46 years on the planet. One I sampled tasted like a cart-variety cruller fried in hamburger grease. My daughters friend licked the cream only to avoid the surrounding, stale crusty mess. I think we might have jeopardized our friendship with her parents. My daughter will normally eat ANYTHING with sugar but even she complained about these abominable creations. Of the 18 baked goods I bought there - dozen 'donuts' and assorted danish etc - 14 are sitting in my garbage can right now, I literally feel like gagging smelling the aroma. (Ps I thought about complaining directly to the store rather than posting this review- I understand Yelp and other review sites can be unfair to small business owners, however I am literally appalled by the experience I had today. Being 'fair' and addressing directly with them didn't seem fair to me frankly- I had to drive 20 minutes in the rain this morning to get ripped off my this place. I've lived the area for about 5 years now and I past by this shop all the time on my way to the subway, however I've never stopped in. From the outside this place looks dumpy. After reading YELP on what's around me I decided to give this place a try. The donuts are the freshest donut I've ever tasted. The donut shoppe staff in the morning is busy and not that friendly, but the dozen donut I brought to work got raving reviews ! Good food , terrible night time service. More than once have i ordered something along the the lines of a bacon egg and cheese . I asked for salt pepper ketchup and not only does the employee not put these on my sandwhich he ignores my request and just puts it in my bag even when i asked him if he could put it on before he bags up the sandwhich which he ignored completely and just put them in my bag so i could add them myself . I should have just stayed home and made it myself if i was going to have to do most of the work myself when i take the sandwhich apart and add what i originally asked for anyway. read more

I purchased a Apple Crumble donut and a Boston Creme for $1.75. The donuts were excellent. Compared to Dunkin' Donuts these donuts are cheaper, bigger, and better. Highly recommended, and will be returning to try tacos. read more

I worked here many, many years ago & the donuts were always delicious, but Shaikh did not own this shop since 1965. The first owner was Carl Radicella and he baked the donuts fresh every am. Back in the day, when Carl owned it, it was great. He had a Christmas party one year & that's how I met my first husband.
