Great coffee shop to hang out with friends or to get some work done. Their tuna sandwich was delicious and fresh! Gets very busy so get there early!

    Roach in food

There was a ROACH in my boyfriend's food (picture attached). They have also, in the past, messed up his dietary restrictions and given him food with meat when he is a vegetarian. Not to mention, the customer service is atrocious. Every single time I go, I am met with attitude and sometimes confusion from anybody who is working behind the register. I am told after I order that they are out of a certain type of milk, out of straws, or out of an ingredient in the food. I was inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt as I also work in food service but after the events of today I cannot give them my business anymore. Do not waste your time.

PLG is a cute cafe in the corner. It's all rustic and hip and was quite busy when we arrived. A few people were sitting around doing work, so it may be hard to find a table inside, but they do have ample seating outside. The staff were friendly and very helpful as well. I opted to get a smoked salmon bagel which I enjoyed. I don't eat a lot at once so I ended up saving the second half for later. I also got a pineapple/passionfruit tea which I didn't quite enjoy. It was very bitter and no amount of sugar or tempering saved it for me. My friend got a turkey and cheese croissant. What an overwhelming amount of turkey. The croissant was also really crumbly which is fun, but a lot of it flakes off unfortunately. All in all, a good experience but there is room for improvement.

Cute spot in the great part of town, we ended up here because of their ability to handle allergens quite well (definitely appreciate it for this little celiac), and I love the fact that, on a sunny Brooklyn summer day, they have wonderfully shaded outdoor dining. The food is good enough, one thing I will say, is that the type of gluten-free bread used can definitely be better, but otherwise we were all pretty good with the food, their service is great, and you really can't beat this part of town in terms of location and it's just overall a great spot to spend time catching up and hanging out at.

2022 Update I've been coming to PLG for almost 5 years. PLG continues to be a neighborhood staple for me. More recently they did a refresh of the staff and I'd like to note how lovely they are. This is the only place close to me that I'll order an iced chai latte. They get it right every time regardless of who's making it. The food is fantastic. They do breakfast until noon M-F. They do breakfast all day Saturday & Sunday. The rest of their menu is fantastic too. Very diet inclusive! The only downside is that they are so popular that the wait on food is long. Sometimes I'll opt out of food because I'm unable to wait. But drinks are always speedy! However, I see it as a positive that they are always busy. That speaks to their quality. This is also a Black Owned Business! I've had the pleasure of meeting the owner a few times briefly in passing and they are wonderful. If you're in PLG, stop by!!

Nice coffee shop in Flatbush. The food was super cheesy which I'm not sure I loved, but it was good. I also love that they bag loose leaf tea making it easier to resteep. I didn't use it, but I noticed they had a printer and I thought that was really cool and pro-community vibe. Definitely a good spot to work in if you need and like the background noise of a bustling cafe.

This place has gone down hill since COVID-19. This morning I walker in after 7am and the lady could not take my plus one other persons order until she was done setting up the patio. You have customers waiting to order, yet concerned about the patio that no one is currently even waiting for. Only took 5 minutes but very unprofessional, especially at a coffee spot where people are crunched for time on the way to work. Food is still good though, only thing keep this above 1 star. Also, came in for my free birthday coffee and they told me it's only black coffee or iced coffee, I got iced coffee. However, that was not the case last year. Again, place has gone downhill. ****UPDATED****

So excited to be just around the corner from here! They allow indoor seating (limited capacity) and they have free Wifi. They also have a printer! Being here brought back all the wonderful memories of working and chatting in coffee shops. They also have delicious food and drink! I tried their pumpernickel bagels, one with egg & cheese and another with cream cheese & jam. Both were fresh and yummy! They have a great selection of hot drinks, too. PLG has a super warm, friendly, and homey feel and I can't wait to be back more often!

Place was very ok to me. The vibes and inside were super cute but the food was ok. The bagel with egg only had 1 egg which just made the proportions off. The bagel felt stale. The protein burrito was pretty good but didn't blow my mind.

I love PLG! As a vegetarian, it's awesome to have so many healthy options. Furthermore, they are great with allergies and substitutions. The coffee and iced tea are great. The staff is always welcoming and helpful, and the indoor and outdoor are clean. I love the breakfast wraps and pesto mozzarella sandwich.

My experience here was just fine. I came here twice for quick bites during a girls trip! We were staying in Brooklyn and this was one stop away on the train. They have a pretty large menu of basic things. Smoothies are my go to so I ordered a Health Bomb both days. BUT on the second day I inquired about the color. It seems I actually received a Purple People Eater on the first day (which I did NOT order because I can't have peanuts) so that kind of left me feeling so-so about their serving process. Their Chai is good! I wish they would get a better system down for serving food and drinks. We saw multiple mix-ups in the two visits we had. People receiving the wrong food, drinks, and getting things they didn't order under their name. It's a super cute spot but just needs some fixing on the serving side! They have Gluten Free offerings but even that makes me nervous to think back on due to the mixups I saw. I had the GF bread and as a Celiac I didn't get sick.

I've been intentional with my purchasing recently and trying to actively uplift, feature and support Black Owned businesses. And I am unapologetic about it. I live in the neighborhood and might've been here once in, what, like 4/5 years. Mainly because this hot spot, before the pandemic, was pretty popular with the neighborhood and was packed. That day I really wanted breakfast and had a few minutes til the cut off time so I power walked to PLG! Pleasantly surprised, it was empty and they are taking proper precautions for Covid and safety. You wait outside for your food but order inside. And there's a limit to the amount of people ordering at one time. I like this place already. I walked in and wanted half the damn menu. Nothing new! Ha! So I settled on food for 3. As I ate for 1. I ordered a plain bagel with cream cheese and tomato, a croissant with the works (see my photo), a Greek salad AND an iced chai latte. That's why you can't order food hongry. Yes, hongry not hungry. Also, not to be confused with hangry. I bolted home and devoured the bacon, egg, cheese and avocado on a croissant first. Lovely. Perfect soft yolk in the center. I'm not a fan of runny. It's a texture thing. Next I ate the bagel with cream cheese n tomato. The bagel was soft and the tomato was sweet and juicy. Omgggg. I want another one. I can't think about it! But I had some restraint and saved the salad for lunch. I didn't realize the salad had hummus in it, my bad for not reading all the ingredients. It was called a Greek salad but felt a little Mediterranean. It was filling and came with a sweet balsamic reduction dressing on the side. I didn't use the dressing, too sweet for my tastes. It was the typical tomato, cucumber, olives and feta but also had roasted veggies! Watch out for the olives though. They are not pitted and have seeds. I almost broke a tooth on the first bite. Ha ha ha ha. You have been warned! I'm happy that I went. I'll definitely be back. The staff was friendly. The chai latte hit the spot and I don't have any complaints! Check them out. They have an app so you can order ahead. Or you can stop by and order whenever. If you like my photos, my commentary, and my review check out my foodie adventures on insta. @saltandsavor

    Salmon Avocado Toast
    Ting Z.

Classic Brooklyn neighborhood cafe. Decent cappuccinos, really good chai lattes (if I come back, it'll be for the Chai). Ordered the salmon avocado toast which, while good, was pretty pricey for what you get. The salmon was good though, might be back to try their salmon sandwich. Side salad was fresh and I enjoyed their balsamic dressing.

The food: Roast Pork Special- Fried Eggplant, Provolone, Broccoli Rob- The texture of the pork came off a bit dry, the eggplant was good but kinda gets lost in the sandwich so if I literally had it on it's own I would have appreciated it more but who eats fried eggplant by itself? The rob was nice it added a nice crunch but didn't offer that much flavor. Giuseppe Special- Eggplant parm, meatballs, melted mozzarella. I couldn't get over how soggy the bread was. It was like wet paper towel to me. Soggy bread and everything kinda tasting the same made it underwhelming. Nicky Special- It just tasted like salad in between bread. There was so much veg, that was the main thing I remember in that sandwich.

This is not your ordinary New York bodega, this is the shop of General Ock, who sells various sandwiches in his renowned Ocky Way. So what is the Ocky Way? The Ocky Way is not just a sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and onions, it is also about presentation and style.
