When informed that the kitchen omitted the $19 lox and severely burnt the bagel, the owner became extremely hostile, screamed at me, cursed me out, and hung up. Zero accountability, stole my money, and treated a loyal customer with total hostility. AVOID THIS PLACE! ------------------------------- Do not waste your money here‼ I placed an order for a premium $19 Lox, Cream Cheese, Tomato, and Avocado on Everything bagel. What I actually received was an overpriced insult to basic NYC deli standards. 1. They completely omitted the main $19 protein--the lox was missing entirely. Charging nearly $20 for a bagel and leaving out the core ingredient you paid for shows a shocking lack of basic order accuracy and kitchen oversight. 2. The bagel itself was completely ruined. I specifically requested a light toast so it would be soft and easy to eat. Instead, they delivered a scorched, rock-hard bagel that was so burnt and tough it was painful to chew and literally scratched my mouth and throat. Serving severely charred, rock-hard bread to a customer is not just terrible preparation--it poses a legitimate health hazard and a violation of basic food safety standards. Food served in this condition can easily cause physical abrasion, micro-tears, or injury to a customer's mouth and esophagus. Good. Haven't been here since the mid to late nineties when Cropsey Bagels was a weekly breakfast staple in my household. Its completely different from what I remember it being both inside the store and the bagel itself. I remember the store being double in size with tables and chairs but now it boasts an open layout that makes it easy to get in and out. The bagels here are good. Slightly different from what I remember but still just as good. Not too heavy with a decent chew. Soft with little crisp. Good flavor. BEC are decent too but be sure to ask for salt, pepper, and ketchup. I will say that the coffee is horrible IMO. read more

I've never actually been to Cropseys but I've had my fair share brought home to PA when my father was working in NY. These bagels beat any bagel in PA. They are so good, probably the best bagel I've ever had. A few weeks ago we got them again & they did not disappoint. Pre covid they used to be open at all hours but it's cut back. My go to basic order is a good old everything bagel, toasted, with scallion cream cheese and the significant other enjoys a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese. It's nice and spacious inside. There's currently no indoor dining available and a separate pickup counter. They have everything you'd imagine a deli and bagel shop to be and more. Many varieties of chips, snacks, candy, drinks, beer, lottery scratch cards. Other food like muffins, pastries, croissants, cookies, breakfast platters, burgers, sandwiches, salad. No nilly snarling crumpers to effect today's bagel stop, yesterday I was disturbed profoundly by those useless hornswogglers. Double parking is the normal, so if your in Brooklyn -- and your interested in getting your bagel on, don't stand firm if you get a temporary blockade of emergency vehicles, plumbers and oldies in their ocean liner sized Caddy's. I didn't want to inflame the populism with a loud word, but nobody was looking at me, I was hoping for a sneer, it would be an acknowledgement. Once I was spotted, all went very well as a little lady came around and walked me over to the coffee bar, pointing out the cup stacks and assorted coffee flavors. So no spoilers as to my breakfast decision -- a toasted everything bagel with scallion cream cheese spread. And the site of all the other options took me into a dreadfully regretful world. I lept and looked and I needed to do the opposite, to pan across the baskets and shelves, to take more time would be wise. There's almost never not a line of cars double parked outside this spot because of its convenient location near the highway. For me, it's a good thing it's not walking distance and only on my way when highway driving because that me from frequenting them way too often. They have the best (and only?) French Toast bagel in the area (Deep South Brooklyn). When my previous gold standard was Utopia Bagels, it's very hard to live up to those expectations. But I recently had a French Toast bagel from another boro's popular bagel spot and it paled in comparison even to Cropsey's! SO, I have a new found fondness for them and their proximity to my stomping grounds. Also, I recently learned they have tofu cream cheese, so even vegans can get their fix too. I'm still partial to butter, but I'm glad to know they're looking out for all kinds of customers. An excellent destination, but I haven't tasted enough of the menu to fully assess things. read more

The bagels are great however, one of their employees is not. As I was walking down the block, I noticed one of their employees making a delivery to the public school try to kick a black and white stray cat as they were walking. After he tried to kick the cat, the employee quickly crossed the street. When confronted about it, he pretended he didn't know what I was talking about & ignored me when I told him that was animal abuse. I phoned the shop to let them know & they said they'd talk with the individual. I highly doubt that would happen and doubt the individual would be held accountable for his animal abuse. Haven't noticed this store, but decided to stop by today from a morning walk. Place looked really nice and modern! I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a roll and it was good, just wish there were more bacon. It was more like an egg and cheese sandwich.
