Well, I saw a person's review espousing good attributes about a warm hot glazed donut looking like a Krispy cream donut on steroids I visited for first time and last time. I ordered two donuts for 9.57. Holy Donut holes Batman ! The prices per dozen is a car payment. The glazed donut was a thick heavy cake like dough inside and a glazed surface... I didn't like the doughy mix .... The glaze was falling off on me as I was eating in car...a real hot mess as they say on a hot day . The second donut was a butterscotch donut...I liked this one better but only butterscotch was in the glaze? Dough no butterscotch. The filling was a Boston creme type custard and was good, but not enough of it and no butter scotch flavors. Price chopper supermarket was next door and sold donuts for 1.19 each and were not bad . I had a donut of the month for 1.19 to dollar cost average the 4.80 a piece donuts . read more

Drove 36 minutes to this place and it was worth it! Food is delicious. I got the Buttercrunch and the Cordaville cream donuts (had half of each) and they were amazing. Also split the sausage, egg and cheese sandwich with my daughter and it was very good, but if you don't like cumin, don't get it. The sausage is full of cumin (one of the main spices in chili and Indian food). My husband got the Canadian bacon, egg and cheese sandwich and he loved it. Whats exciting is that their jellied donuts are filled with locally sourced fruits, peaches from local farm stands (i know because we follow their instagram) their strawberry rhubarb jelly donut is PACKED w delicious jelly , and their boston cream is the best in the STATE!!! My favorite donut shop in MetroWest is sort of a cross between a pop-up and a rented sub-space within the Vin Bin, but they're here to stay. These are mostly brioche donuts, so not that sweet and more bready, but the freshness separates them from other contenders (pretenders) whose donuts feel more like hamburger buns. Here, they're usually fluffy. The real star is the toppings and fillings, which are always made with quality ingredients and often brilliant. But back to the freshness: one drawback for some is that not all of the posted varieties are available 100% of the time, but that means they're making new batches throughout the morning. Classic Vanilla Bean Glazed: Great showcase for the underlying donut quality, which is voluminous but usually fluffy and light. The topping is very liberally applied, very natural tasting, and not just sugar. No flaking; taste and texture more like delicious buttercream. Boston Cream: Same basic donut, filled with fairly ordinary vanilla pudding but topped with extraordinary chocolate ganache. Thick, dark, moist, and intense. Probably a bit behind Union Square Donuts in topping intensity/quality, but with an underlying donut that's fresher and superior to USD. Belgian Chocolate Ganache: Same deal as Boston Cream, only with a hole instead of filling. Go with whichever looks more recently arrived. Jelly: These come in a variety of configurations at different times, but with two things in common: always spherical and plump, and always filled extra generously with the jelly of choice. These aren't the kind that takes you three or four bites to strike jelly; it's an explosion from the get-go. Scones: Different flavors available different weeks. Crusty on the outside, dense but moist on the inside, and good filling content, whether fruit or chocolate. Like a thick, thick cookie. A chocolate chip one was very gooey without stooping to lowest common denominator theatrics. Excellent. Apple Fritter: Big, bumpy, fluffy, fresh, warm, and extra glazy. Filling more like standard issue apple sauce, so no excitement there, but what an exterior and texture. Sometimes they do them with caramel, but I like the simplicity of the regular ones better. You decide. Coffee: They have it, but it's not really a priority. Sometimes at opening it's not ready. Silver lining: ready or not, you can bring Starbucks in from next door. The donuts are amazing! It's hard for me to remember the hours or plan to go at the right time. (I'm not the best planner!) They are very popular and there is a long line. However, it does move pretty quickly. The donuts are very pricey, probably the same or more as gourmet donuts in the city. They sell out pretty fast so you want to try and get there for when they open. I went on Saturday and somehow I got first in line... there was a line all the way down the building behind my by the time doors opened! They are extremely creative in their donut options. This past weekend I got: Kansas City Hot Honey, Chocolate Covered Strawberry, Cupid's Day Off, just to name a few!! Their donuts are fresh, and basically melt in your mouth. I haven't written a review in a little while and I only write reviews for place I love. I wish I could drive around all day and visit mom and pop businesses to figure out what they do best and let everyone know. All I can say about this place is SWEET CHESUS! it is amazing. For one, I showed up at 9:45 on a Friday morning, which is the perfect time and I'll explain why at the end of my review. The place was packed, fairly long line with 4 people working there. I didn't see a menu, so I asked one of the people in line what the deal was with this place. He said he comes all the time and you have to get there early because they sell out. No menu, they just put what they have on the counter and stick labels on each donut because they are always doing new things... I was intrigued . I get to the front of the line and I want everything there. I am a big fan of Jelly donuts because if done right and the jelly is reduced down a little it thickens up nice and darkens and they nailed it with not one, but 2 types of Jelly donuts. The Jersey Blueberry donut was great 100% made with real blueberries not too sweet not too bland from using fresh fruit and most importantly not too chunky. The "house jelly" donut was made with Raspberry and was a grand slam. If you read my other reviews, raspberry is my JAM literally and its probably one of the best Jelly donuts I've ever had. Next, when in Boston, you need to try the Boston cream. It was a normal good donut with great chocolate on top but the filling was what made it great. It isn't slimy like your typical Cream it was more like a whipped custard flavored filling, not overly wet and a little buttery. Overall the combo hit the mark with a lighter more enjoyable Boston cream. Next I got some crazy donut I have no clue what its called, but it was like a glazed Boston cream without chocolate on top, but the filling texture actually more like that typical wet pudding like Boston cream from the store. It was filled with a citrus orange type cream. The best comparison is a pastry I ate while I was in Italy called Sfogliatelle. Next I tried the coconut crumble donut that was awesome perfectly toasted on top and really good. Last but not least I tried a traditional coffee roll which was really good and I tried one of their frosted coffee rolls that had a buttery cream cheesy sweet but not too sweet awesome frosting on it. Its called the donut stand but don't sleep on that coffee roll, it might be the best you can get in MA. I would have tried more, but a bite of each donut turns into a half of each because they are so good and then you're in trouble. Definitely going back. Last thing, worth mentioning and why 9:45 is the perfect time.... I went to the Hopkinton, Ma location and I am obsessed with bourbon, good bourbon. Donuts are one of the best things to have with bourbon... The store next door, "The Vin Bin" opened at 10:00 just as I was leaving and they had an awesome selection, and a little market and super nice staff. Hope the review was helpful. read more

We got two brioche donuts (toasted mandarin & chocolate pudding) and two cake donuts (cookies and cream & black and white) which were all delicious. The chocolate pudding was nicely filled and had a rich chocolate taste. The toasted mandarin had a tart, yet sweet curd inside for the filling. The cake donuts were moist and had a good texture week biting into them. The savory brioche was nicely crisp on the outside and each bite had a bit of cheese and meat. Everything I got was delicious! I was a little nervous because I don't like PVD Donut's brioche donuts but these taste so much better. Great texture and taste. Also the scone I had is the best thing ever. I like that they do an interesting mix of sweet and savory and different types or pastries. Didn't get a chance to try any of the savory ones yet but I'm eager to. I wish they had more flexible hours - it's hard to make it out here given the 9-12 / 9-3 hours. I can only come during the work day which makes it hard. If they opened up earlier or stayed open later, I could more easily come. Sucks cuz I wanna try more. read more

My wife brought me a treat after her Vin Bin lunch. So, I'm not sure *exactly* what this delectable donut was called, but is was a tahini bourbon flavored version of a Boston crème donut. The dough part of the donut was really nice...fluffy and airy like a croissant, but less buttery. The bourbon was only noticeable on the small dollop on top, and any tahini was overshadowed by the chocolate topping. It was much less sugary than any donut I'd ever had. I liked the concept and wish they had bolder with both the bourbon topping and tahini flavor in the custard. We went to the store shortly after they opened in Hopkinton. We are an interracial couple, I was deciding which one to get, asking some questions to the store employee, I basically wanted the plain donuts. As they were out of the plain one, I was trying to chose something not too sweet.... Store employee wasn't that thrill to answer questions and my husband who was standing behind me witnessed employees total dismay about me asking. (They probably didn't think we were together) I know they are a popular place, I get the feeling that they didn't want to bother with a small order (I bought only two). The latest ones sampled were peach cobbler scones, vanilla bean glazed cinnamon rolls, chocolate dipped chocolate, blueberry jam filled, peach jam, and an old fashioned glazed. Yes, they're not cheap - at nearly $5 a donut - however once you bite into one you will understand the zen of quality. These are some of the best donuts you'll find in MA. Mike and his team do an amazing job coming up with new and interesting flavors every week, often ones that you won't find anywhere else. I'm a particular fan of their filled donuts and cake donuts, but literally everything is good. My most recent favorite is the coffee cream, which tastes like a fluffy brioche donut filled with coffee ice cream. They're located within the Vin Bin, so there are tables and chairs if you want to hang out and enjoy your donuts there. If you go on the weekend, know that you'll be waiting in line for a little bit, but it will be worth it! read more

Donut Stand is a new gem to the Hopkinton/Milford area! You can really taste the difference with their farm fresh and local ingredients. All of the sandwiches I've tried are unreal - it's the perfect spot for breakfast or lunch! I had the new peach donut yesterday (on special) and haven't been able to stop thinking about it. You can tell ownership takes a lot of pride in what they do. Every time I go I'm greeted with a smile and friendly conversation. I was in with my toddler one day while pregnant and I believe it was the owner who asked if he could help me bring anything out to my car. So sweet! I like to review only those places that I would rank above four stars. And TBH, I struggled with whether or not this place reached that level. In the end, I decided to write a review for one reason: the peach donut. That is the reason it hit that mark, but just barely aft3er the whole experience was taken into account. As the name of the place suggests, they specialize in donuts. And honestly, the donuts were really pretty good, and the peach one was fantastic. I was hoping they would have a few amazing donuts, but outside of that one, they didn't live up to expectations. They had a black and white old fashioned donut that had a deep, rich chocolate flavor that was nice and moist. The Boston cream donut looked a bit greasy when it arrived, but honestly it was light and fluffy so wasn't as heavy as it first appeared. And the glaze was not overly sweet which made it perfect for my palette. I am not a fan of frosting, especially sugar frostings. But the custard in the donut was not as rich as that in your typical Boston cream donut. Now I'm all for innovation: taking a classic and doing a new spin on it is great. But it has to be purposeful and unique and either truly elevated or far enough removed from the classic that it becomes its own thing. This was not that by any means. It was just a custard that didn't live up to my expectations of the classic. So it wasn't new and exciting and it missed the comfort food of the classic by just a bit. Don't get me wrong, it was a really well executed donut despite the first blush appearance, but it just didn't hit the mark for me. But the peach donut, that hit the mark on every point. The donut was perfectly cooked and the filling had an amazing burst of peach flavor, and it was stuffed to the gills with the filling. That donut made it worth the trip. However their tag line is "craft donuts and sandwiches." But in my opinion, they should stay in the donut lane: the sandwiches aren't so much craft. Besides donuts, we started with a croissant and a cinnamon roll. It was a good croissant, but nothing to write home about. A step above say that you can get in a grocery store bakery perhaps, but not much so not a great start for beyond the donuts. And I'm not a cinnamon roll fan so am not the best judge, but my husband is. He found it heavy and lacking in cinnamon flavor: not a flavor you want to miss if it's literally in the name. And he doesn't like cream cheese icing, though it's one of the few I like. So I sampled it and found it overly sweet. But again I have less of a taste for sweet than the typical American so for those that like a sweet frosting, I would assume it would be great. For sandwiches we got the peach caprese and a bacon egg and cheese. The caprese had peaches, mozzarella, kale pesto and balsamic vinaigrette. The ciabatta bread was decent enough, but the rest of the sandwich left a bit to be desired. The flavor profile of the kale pesto with peaches just didn't hit the mark for me. And there were a ton of greens on it, but they were completely undressed so many mouthfuls were just boring and dry. And I searched for the balsamic and what little I could find was not a high quality balsamic. For the bacon egg and cheese sandwich, the bread was an ordinary sub role so nothing special to start. And the eggs were overcooked and unsalted. If you don't salt eggs, they are a bit boring. Salting them makes them really sing in a sandwich. Overall sandwich was dry and bland. To sum up, I would say if you are looking for good donuts, it's worth a try. As long as you aren't looking for truly unique, innovative or sublime donuts, then you won't be disappointed. But for sandwiches, there are a lot of far better places nearby that would be a better choice. read more

Hands down my favorite doughnut spot in MA. The actual dough in their doughnuts tastes so fresh and great every time. Never stale or dried out. OMG- my bad.....showing up to a donut Stand at 11am on a Saturday and being shocked at a long line, but it moved really really fast, and let me say, "I would happily wait longer to score these amazing donuts!!!". These are NOT the gloppy jelly donuts of our youth. Their house made jam is out of this world it is sweet, tangy and delicious. They were all great! And the sandwiches whoever came up with the BLB deserves a medal. It was so delicious & filling we ended up splitting it and saved the State Park Italian for Sunday (it was still yummy).
