With Donut King being open 24/7, they've NEVER let me down when 'called' upon. Which goes to say, Hubs & I are frequent customers of the late night variety. And with us being in our mid-40s, that means after dark but still before 9pm. LOL But hey, I'm sure the consistency we've experienced means we'd likely get the same tasty goodness & friendly service at ANY time of day--at least that's what I'd like to think. Sometimes, we may stop in for a late afternoon treat if in the area shopping or whatnot. So yeah, they consistently good. Some days the case variety may be a little more....sparse, but still enough selection to feel like they don't have something worthwhile. Most times, the case is pretty full, containing the usual classics and a few not so classics. But don't come here looking for that specialty, high-end, bougie-style donut. No no! This is your standard, run-of-the-mill, good ol' fashioned Old Fashioned donut variety, which just so happens to be one of my favorite to get, either in chocolate or maple glaze. Apple fritters are another go-to, while a rainbow sprinkle and even a sugar or crumb donut can be found. Custard filled? Check. Donut holes, absolutely. Maple bar (another go-to of mine) is also a yummy classic served up here. But the one we got on our most recent visit, the one that spurred me actually finally writing up this review, was a BLUEBERRY filled donut. Now, I do love most anything blueberry, so full disclosure. But when hubby tells me even HE found this donut to be SUUUUPER good, that's when I know my tastebuds aren't being biased. Before I wrap this up, let me bring it back to service. The Asians behind the counter, as I've mentioned earlier, is always friendly. Even if/when there occasionally are other patrons besides us, I've witnessed they treat people so nicely, practically as family. It makes me believe they have regulars, but maybe that's just their standard--and if that's the case, it's not a bad business model! So I certainly hope Donut King keeps things going strong and they continue to be abundantly blessed with great customers, to be around for many years to come. The gentleman who is always there seems intoxicated and has no business working in customer service. He says strange things and is extremely forgetful - in fact, the same day I stopped coming here, a man with his family had a confrontation with him. The worker's behavior always very off - not a personality thing, but appears to be a sobriety issue. In the aforementioned man's confrontation, the worker forgot multiple items and wouldn't make it right until the man brought it up, showed his receipt, and made the worker calculate the items which were bought - after the worker gave the man what he was owed, the worker failed to acknowledge their mistake and simply looked at the man with a blank stare. I had a similar issue and called the manager, who wasn't even on site. However, I didn't notice I was missing items until I drove home. The manager wouldn't even say "sorry about that" they simply said they would talk to the staff and that I should go back to pick up the items THEY failed to provide. I went back, and the same gentleman with the inconsistent, non-sober appearing behavior said he didn't hear anything from his manager and I had to call the manager AGAIN. If it isn't the poor behavior from the dude working there, the chick in the back with the sour attitude also fails every box of customer service. I'll never return. This was a great place when the original owner was running the show, now it's just bad.

These aren't something I could ever recreate at home, so I don't mind treating myself here when I can. Sometimes regular donuts just can't compare. I do wish they were a bit cheaper -- but I understand why they're priced the way they are. One thing I really like is that they rotate flavors regularly. You might not see the same selection every visit, but there's always enough variety that you're bound to find something you'll enjoy. They also occasionally offer discounts and have a rewards program you can sign up for, which helps bring the price down after you build up points -- definitely worth it if you're a repeat customer. Beyond the donuts, they also serve Korean corn dogs and a fun drink selection. My husband is a big fan of their Baja Blast lemonade because it's perfectly sour, and I've tried several of their other drinks that were also really good, including their milk tea and spring drinks. For the corn dogs, there are lots of topping options, but the Hot Cheeto one is my personal favorite. Parking is also easy since it's in the same lot as KP Market, with plenty of spaces -- so again, it's a perfect dessert stop, especially after grocery shopping. 85°C Bakery is also right next door but they tend to be busy which deters me from visiting -- it's more peaceful for me to stop by Mochinut where customers just stop by, pick up their donuts and go instead of mingling around. Honestly, I can't really complain about this place at all -- other than wishing prices were lower -- and it's been a reliable treat spot for years.
