One of the best kept secrets around Sacramento is this little donut shop on the corner of Fair Oaks Blvd and San Juan Ave in Carmichael that has a wide selection of undercover vegan donuts on the weekends (Friday to Sunday). They don't label the vegan donuts in fear of their loyal omni customers freaking out, so you're just going to have to go early and ask for them. They keep the vegan ones on separate racks and will point them out to you, as well as hand you the secret vegan menu. The apple fritter and boston creme are to die for. If they have them, I would highly suggest you get those. The maple bar is also good, as are the jelly-filled. Ok, who am I kidding, ALL these vegan donuts are worth your time. It's like Ronald's Donuts in Vegas opened a second location - the quality is that similar. I like surprising my coworkers with a dozen from time to time and watch them rave about how good they are not knowing they are vegan. Bought a few donuts to try and all of them were chewy instead of fluffy, the only exception was with the fritter, but even that wasn't great. None of them had much flavor. One went straight to the trash because it had a faint smell of cleaning products. When I visited, they had a good selection of donuts and it was clean inside. Came in for a donut and the selection and variety of donuts was like no other. So many to choose from . I got a cinnamon roll and a turkey and cheese croissant instead of the donut. They also offer smoothies and sandwiches and salads all made in house. The inside has a big seating area, but unfortunately the service was not that great. Employees seem like they were in a hurry. One employee asked if we were ready if not, so she can help someone else which made us rush into our decision. The croissant with turkey and cheese was OK. I think they may have used Swiss cheese because it was a little on the sour side. The chocolate covered cinnamon roll was not as I expected but then again I should've stuck with getting the chocolate donut I originally went to get. Sugary sweet AND vegan??!! We are down. Got there relatively late on a Sunday for a donut run, but still a great selection. And yes, even a nice selection of vegan donuts too. Updated review I really wanted to try these guys again, the bad fritter I got last time had to have been a fluke. I walked in and they had not only regular glazed fritters but also maple and chocolate glazed ones! I bought one of each. The breakdown below is for the standard glazed apple fritter. Glaze: the glaze is good, four stars Outside: chewy in the middle, crunchy on the edges and frankly kinda burnt, three stars Inside: fluffy but a little oily, three stars Filling: large chunks, good apple flavor, four stars Three stars. It was a little too oily for me and there was a noticeable burnt taste. I'm not sure I like the other fritter flavor combos but that's just my preference, I still think it's neat they make them. read more

OMG. Can this place get any better? Yes, it can!! They now stock Vegan donuts every day, Monday through Sunday. They are unmarked, so you'll need to ask the person behind the counter which ones are Vegan. The only ones they haven't cracked the code for are the cakey ones - like Old Fashion. I have no doubt they'll have ALL Vegan in next 1-2 years. They now have over 70% of the donuts being Vegan. Before, when I went, they had duplicates of certain donuts, for instance they'd have the glazed in Vegan and-Non-Vegan Donuts. Now, if they can make it Vegan - they have only Vegan flavor, unmarked. They probably save $ making them Vegan (an added plus!). Run, don't walk, to this wonderful donut store. Oh, the Vegan surcharge for Vegan vs non-Vegan - it's $0. They don't charge extra for Vegan items (unlike Starbucks that actually charges for Vegan milk (unlike Peets). read more
