This is a review regarding Donut Villa Diner's delivery service which I don't see much written about on here. Getting breakfast delivered has always been something that I've day dreamed about on Sunday mornings after a long night out. Today I decided to test it out. I ordered a breakfast burrito and a honey dip donut that got delivered to my door in about 20 minutes. The burrito and hash browns were great. I was worried they could be soggy but nope! You can tell that the donuts are made fresh daily. The only other thing I can add is that this was on a Friday morning so I could guess that delivery times might be longer on the weekend. Also, I placed my order online and it said the estimated delivery time was 75 minutes when it actually only took 20 minutes. I think that could deter people from placing orders so maybe a way to provide more accurate delivery times is needed. I have moved around a lot in the last decade, and the mistake that I've always made is not seeking out the best doughnut shop in town within the first six months of arriving. It may have taken me 2.5 years, but now I've found Donut Villa and I am not going back to terrible Dunkin Donuts anytime soon. As others have mentioned, you really need to get there early if you want good doughnuts. They will be completely out if you come in before closing time. If you get there at noon on a weekday, there might be a dozen doughnuts left. But arrive at 6 a.m. and you will find a veritable treasure trove of doughnuts with more parading out on trays. The honey dip is out of this world, as is the chocolate frosted. The cake doughnuts are excellent too -- I recommend the coconut. These doughnuts are definitely best eaten fresh, so bring a friend to help you eat them all. read more

Went here with some friends. We were super excited to try it with the cute decor and small spot. The lady that greeted us was super rude but I passed it off as she just busy or having a bad day. At some point another lady was waiting on us not sure if the other girl left or they all pool tables. The first girl took our order wrong but most could be dealt with besides one meal was missing most items in a custom omelet and super dry. We asked for it to be remade the way it was order. They took it back out some cold cheese in it and brought it back. Needless to say yuck! So they offered to remake it from scratch. We said sure. This time it came with no bacon but we ate half anyways because everyone was done eating at this point. To my surprise they offered nothing for all this and making an omelet wrong 3 times. I was shocked that they still made us pay for this. At the very least they could offer a donut to go but nothing. I will never return between the rudeness and the fact that they can't make an omelet right with three tries. I would not recommend this place read more

My heart sunk when I pulled into the plaza at the Donut Villa address and saw a Dunkin Donuts. Not another one, I thought, thinking that it had been bought out by the popular chain. But alas, there stood Donut Villa right behind Dunkin Donuts. I went in and ordered a jelly and a honey dipped donut. The jelly was delectable - soft, sweet and covered with the perfect sugar coating. The honey dipped was the stuff of legends. I could almost taste the love (or was that lard) that these donuts were made with! The coffee, not so great. But for just less than a $1 a piece, the donuts are definitely worth the trip! read more

I like Union Square and Blackbird, but I would honestly take Donut Villa's honey-dipped over anything I've ever had from either of those donut shops. So thrilled we found them. The food was delicious but the service was poor, so I recommend takeout. We loved the Nutella pancakes, rosemary fries and lox sandwich. The waitstaff was inattentive and grouchy. I asked 3 times in 15 minutes for water. On my 3rd request the the waitress snapped back that she heard me but was writing down an order. Server never asked how the food was or if we needed anything. This place is in a great location! It is in a plaza with plenty of parking. Went in today for the first time and had a great experience! I picked up an online order which was super easy to do. Within a minute or so of me walking in, a woman took care of me. She was super friendly and worked quickly. I ordered an omelette with home fries and toast. Everything was delicious. The omelette was so soft and not even close to being overcooked. The portion was perfect. You definitely get your moneys worth! I will be back soon to try their donuts. Great food! I got 3 eggs, bacon, home style potatoes, and toast for less than $5 (mon-thurs before 10am). It was delicious, and the donuts are fantastic! Also, our waitress was awesome! Cash Only! Whoops, I forgot to bring cash and only had a debit card and didn't realize it until I was knee deep into my coffee and traditional style donut. The proprietor was a very nice lady and let me run to the nearby ATM without making a big deal out of it. She was also very helpful and friendly. I can't believe I have never noticed this place before. I drive by it all the time but the second you walk in here you will notice a very "local older crowd feel" so much you will probably hear a record scratch like in the movies when the hippies walk into the conservative southern bar. They make all their own donuts! If that isn't cool enough, they make traditional style donuts unlike the Dunkin' Donuts ones that are baked and trucked in and don't resemble donuts. I did not order breakfast but they do make breakfast to order on the grill. I will have to try that next time! read more

I ordered delivery for breakfast---craving blueberry pancakes and I was not disappointed. The pancakes were flavorful, fresh and fluffy. Not your originally saucer size pancake, it was huge; for 2 pancakes it was just as filling as if there were 4. This place is such a hidden little gem. I am so happy I happened to join the Crunch Fitness in the same plaza to have been able to stumble onto this place! I definitely wouldn't have noticed it otherwise. It's an understated little retro mom and pop shop. Mom and pop have been going strong in that same location for the past 42 years they told me this morning. My friend and I had finished up a rather killer workout and thought we deserved some hearty breakfast, so we headed over to try it out. No regrets at all. The prices are extremely reasonable and the food was all made right in front of us on the grill. It was all cooked perfectly and I was elated to be able to get all of my breakfast favorites without breaking the budget! Sausage, home fries, eggs, toast, pancakes, iced coffee and orange juice all for under $12! Next time I'll definitely be stopping in for one of their scrumptious-looking donuts! I also wasn't aware it was cash only, but they were SO sweet and understanding and let us run over to Dunkin' to use the ATM. On top of all of that, the man sitting next to us who was clearly a regular asked us if we wanted the next turn with the "house paper" after he was finished. Such a neat place! read more

We ordered takeout brunch for the first time from here last weekend and it was amazing. I am vegetarian and my husband and is a meat eater so this place had something for both of us. Our kids are donut eaters and they loved their selection as well (butternut donut). We live about ten minutes away in Melrose and the breakfast was still hot when we got home. We will be ordering again in the future and am excited to visit in person after COVID. read more

I got a side salad but I'm not sure if the but the dressing on it or not (haven't eaten it yet) the food was more than enough and my bf and I were both full. I loved the price it was reasonable. I was SO sad when back in August, I learned that they had closed. Not that I need to eat a donut every day, but, their donuts were superlative, and I feared that a true art had been lost forever. I was also bewildered by the fact that nobody had thought to buy this business, with its marvelous recipes, superior skills, and the refreshing and authentic old-fashioned charm of the décor, too. All the breakfast food was delicious, and the hot chocolate and coffee, as well, but the donuts were truly artisanal, and in an honest way, long before that word became too trendy and over-used for marketing purposes of all kinds of over-priced mediocrity. So, imagine how THRILLED I was to discover that they RE-OPENED, that someone (brilliant!) had indeed bought the business and its secrets, and now, I am happy to report that DONUT VILLA IS BACK, and BETTER than EVER! Why do I say that? Well, mostly because the donuts are even more delish than before- same pillowy soft consistency and beautiful billowy bulges, but now, nobody is cheapin' out on the fillings and the glazes. I hope that generosity lasts because when the old-timers start getting a little stingy on what they put on the inside of the donut, well, that's just selling out. But that is not what's happening here. These babies are scrumptious, and for the record, we went to the famous Kane's once when we learned of the demise of Donut Villa. I had been there years ago, and not impressed then, but desperate times call for desperate measures, so I had to return, and much to my surprise, after all the bla bla bla you hear, I have to report that, nope, still not impressed. How sad. And then, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Donut Villa re-opens! A miracle, just in time for Thanksgiving! Especially since the fantastic, sassy serving ladies duo, aka Dawn and Maria, are also back. To boot, the place looks great, too, with a much needed re-fashioning of restroom access, and a slight design change in the seating area, as well. Another plus, they take credit cards now. Ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel here this morning. It was delicious but not too greasy, the best breakfast sandwich I've had in a while. We also got a chocolate honey glazed donut, that was good, very fresh, light, but not extremely sugary. The turkey bacon side I ordered wasn't the best but I think that's probably to be expected from turkey bacon (and it wasn't bad, I just would stick with regular bacon next time). I came here for my first time this morning and will definitely be back again soon. The menu had a mouthwatering array of tempting options and every single thing we ordered hit the spot.
