Donut wheel is a Tucson treasure. For years I have been a customer while living in Marana. Somehow despite years long freeways construction on Ina Road, and the COVID pandemic this place has survived. When other popular spots like Miss Saigon, Long John Silvers, such just didn't make it. Recently I returned to Donut Wheel for my friend's birthday gift of Apple fritters. The donuts here are the typical variety one hopes for with glazed donuts, chocolate glazed sugar cake, old-fashioned, etc. Inside are tables if you want to eat breakfast inside. Used to think it was a better than average place, waaay back in 2019, lol. Back then, their donuts were very fresh, fluffy and bigger than average. And for all that, the price per donut was darn fair. Fast-forward to the last 2x I went there (2025) to bring home a maple bar for the spouse and a few to have for the rest of the family. They were a little better than most grocery store donuts. BUT. Not as good as they used to be. Don't know what happened, but they are middle of the road now, at best. The very last time I went the maple bars were dry, smaller and not the same. New baker? New recipe? Complacency? Idk, but my local Dunkin (Sandario) is now noticeably better or equivalent and a much shorter drive. Service is no frills. Don't have anything to say about the ambiance as I've only driven thru. Overall, okay, but nothing to get excited about. And my coffee was not worth reviewing. Maybe one day I'll try them again and see if they've improved. read more

Donuts- glazed, glazed with chocolate topping were both moist and pretty good. However, the cinnamon, the frites, the glazed with peanuts were all dry and didn't taste fresh. Atmosphere- drive through, pick up and chairs to wait. Service was decent. But not the best. Overall, worth a try but it isn't something that I'd recommend as the best. Ok been going here 15 yrs. And today I say I wanted a dozen assorted and the girl helping was no help at all. She was like that's Xtra. Grabbed another that's Xtra too....I just want them to put the special dounts on one side it's to much to find blueberry donuts Xtra very tiny. Anything filled 2 dollars more. We love this place and love to make a visit on the weekends to grab a few donuts! They generally have a line of people but have several people working and we never wait more than a few minutes to be helped. Our top donut picks are the cherry frosted, chocolate frosted and the donut holes! Today my little one got a jelly filled (raspberry filling) and he was a fan! The donuts are light and fluffy, not greasy and so much better than the big donut chains in Tucson. We have been several times and never had a donut we didn't enjoy!! read more

Our family has driven by this store for years on our way up to Phoenix. We finally decided to stop early evening on a recent Sunday. We got there around 6p so we didn't expect a lot of selection or very fresh donuts, but we were pleasantly surprised. The worker was friendly and explained that they didn't have as many choices as they do in the morning, but there were still plenty. They're known for their cherry glazed donuts, but we went for a glazed buttermilk, glazed raised and a sugar raised. All the donuts were fresh and tasty. Last time the "chocolate covered old fashioned" ended up being a "maple glazed." My fault, I should know to check my order before I leave by now. No matter how busy Donut Wheel gets they are always very efficient. The selection of donuts is fantastic. I love their apple fritters, they have big chunks of apple in them, and lots of glaze. We also love their chocolate croissants - we like to take them home and warm them a little bit and they are to die for. Whenever I return to this location I promise to not return but in a moment of hunger/weakness in logic I return. Every time I do I experience the same disappointment. Yesterday I arrived at 7:30 am (thinking surely things will be fresh) nope, another disappointment for the same things... Stale donuts this early is inexcusable. I will no longer give my business to this place. Every donut I bought was stale, buttermilk bar & donut, the huge apple fritter (because a buddy at work said they still had the crispy edge, nope) and the custard filled. That was the best one of all of them but still not that good! Bottom line, will not return. If you want the best donuts go to Alvernon Donuts or drive to Benson Donuts. Otherwise forgetaboutit! I just have to leave a 1-star for this scamming company. Not because of the flavor. The flavor of their donuts are good. It's because they intentionally scam customers for more money. Beware of their advertised "$14.99 mixed dozen" doughnuts. That is not the case at all. They do not specify (well they do but they intentionally put the specifics in different hard to read writing that they know nobody is going to read if they're there for the first time) what "assorted" means. So basically, it doesn't mean assorted, and according to what doughnuts you pick, it will come to a lot more money than their advertised "$14.99" for a dozen. My dozen came to $22.67. And it was because I picked 3 glazed twists and 3 chocolate bars instead of normal glazed and chocolate doughnuts. That's insane! Instead of making a fuss about it, after I asked the employee that it isn't really $14.99 for a dozen then, I decided to just let it go and pay the money. She answered me walking away with her back towards me. Why? Because she knows damn well that they are scamming customers for more money, and she doesn't want to get confronted about it. So, this was my first time here. For this reason, in an already crazy inflated economy, any company that intentionally scams customers, I have to give a 1-star rating. I don't care if their food is good. Customer relations is a big part of a business. Transparency is also big too, and they absolutely failed at this. So I'm writing this in case anyone wants to read, so that you don't make the mistake I did. I highly recommend asking what the $14.99 assorted dozen entails for the choice of doughnuts before you start picking your own. read more

Delicious! You know Donut Wheel is good when it is almost 1:00 in the afternoon on a Saturday and the people steadily continue to come in. The workers are efficient and keep the line moving. There is a huge selection of donuts, sprinkles, cake, stuffed, various frostings. There is a drive thru but I would recommend going in on your first visit to look at all the options. The interior of the restaurant is not much from a decorative perspective but the donuts make up for it. The 4 stars is based on various aspects of the interior. The coffee is good and reasonable. My eating companion and I enjoyed - chocolate glazed cream filled, powdered raspberry filled, and glazed donut holes. Each super fresh and light in texture and taste. I will be back! read more

Got to the shop at 6:30 am on 11/06 for a birthday celebration. Wanted a ma and pa type shop instead of Dunkin Donuts. I felt like I might as well have just went to the gas station. Wow!!! Excellent fluffy donuts so big I cannot take a bite. Now this little family run place is so good for a treat but it takes alot of restraint cause I go crazy here but gotta be careful for health reasons unfortunately.
