Wow. Glad friends in Brighton told us about this place. Had to stop on the way back to Buffalo (even though it was the other direction). Loved the dough of the banana cream donut ( and the cream too -- only thing that would have made it better would have been chopped up banana in the cream). Pleasantly surprised by the savory selections at the counter. Loved the 2 breakfast rollup selections offered. Both were super delish. Oreo donut and cream filled were great too! This was my very first time here and I was very impressed. Everything looked better than the next. I love a donut and I had no idea where to even begin. I ordered a glaze twist and a filled lemon. I cannot pass up lemon anything anywhere so this was the perfect fit for me. The donuts were tucked away in their little bag and I tucked them away on the backseat to stop from devouring them on the way home. I've been passing by this place every day on my way to work and I wanted to try it. Finally found time to stop in. I got cannoli donuts and apple fritters. Both were delicious. The cannoli doughnuts are quite tasty though I do sort of wish they had an option for a version not covered in powdered sugar. If you like cannolis, you will like the donuts version. Maple donut is great! I am very disappointed with my sandwich glazed donut with cheese, egg and cheese include hollandaise and Tate tot been sit on their kitchen for about good 20 minutes! I come here probably more often than I should. Salvatore's subs are my favorite because I like their bread. I sometimes pick this location to grab a donut or cookie, too. I just got my sub this time. I ate half my sub and put the rest in the fridge for the next day. It had Swiss cheese on it, which I didn't order and absolutely hate, so I had to pull it off. I should have called and complained then, but I didn't. Hardly the first time they've gotten my order wrong, and they ALWAYS forget my side. So, the next day I get my sub out, open it up to pull the Swiss off, and there's a hair in it!!! Eeew, gross!!! And I already ate the other half. Needless to say, this was my last visit to this Salvatore's. I gave them a 2 rather than a 1 just because I've been there many other times. My recommendation: donut go here. It scores 3 for being a family business and for having a really nice girl who gave me really nice service, but that's where it stops. (1) The donuts were kind of stale, overly sweet, I barely even had a few bites, and Starlight wouldn't even touch them. Although she did pose for some nice pix outside. (2) The donut enthusiasts where I live were given these donuts (apple fritter and regular glazed) and even though the donuts were huge, they did not go down well and these usually non-discriminatory donut eaters turned their collective noses up at Delite's Donuts. (3) The location is owned by (I think) Salvatore's and also sells Salvatore's Pizza, which was congealed, dry, and very displeasing. I guess it's been taken over by Salvatore's. I've been here a few times, it's got kitch appeal, you can sit outside when it's warm and the donuts are good, coffee is ok. The Canoli Donut is excellent as are the cream filled ones. Overall my experience at Donuts Delite was pretty positive. The selection of donuts was plentiful and the turn over appeared to be quite fast. There is a little outdoor sitting area which was hopping with people! I got 2 donuts the cannoli donut and the carrot cake donut. Not just donuts, but pure Delite. You can pizza at 6pm and a fresh donut. Or you can get a breakfast pizza and a fresh donut. Doesn't matter when or where, they will deliver donuts and breakfasts or pizza. After declaring bankruptcy, Salvatore's bought the Rochester staple, Donuts Delite. And they executed the purchase perfectly and gave back to Rochester exactly what they lost. Still in the original location on Culver and Empire, nothing has changed, but Salvatore's also uses this location as a pizza place. They did make one modification, which seems more like gluttonous evolution; they added a cannoli donut. I grew up eating donuts here and it's one of the few places I can still share with my children. And they have the same enthusiasm I had, while I still have the same childish smile covered in powdered sugar and jelly in the corners. My family comes here every year on our annual Rochester visit. It is a classic. My father grew up here and he remembers coming here as a kid (So 60ish years). The powdered chocolate is by far the family favorite. Apple fritters, sour creamed glazed, and powdered vanilla also get honorable mention. You really can't go wrong with these four. This trip I also wanted to try some new flavors. The blueberry doughnut is a new (at least new to me) addition that I recommend. Definitely a sweet blueberry treat. Personally I would have liked it to have had just a bit more tartness, but it's good if you like sweet. The oero doughnut was a bit of a disappointment. Ordered pizza here because after numerous complaints to the East Main Street store went unanswered we decided to try different location. What a mistake. For the last two months we have complained about our pizza having literally no sauce even when paying for extra sauce at East Main Street. We wanted to give another location a try and went here, not only did our pizza not have any sauce again, but I'm positive the dough was previously frozen and not homemade. I finally visited Donuts Delite for the first time and I'm impressed! I wish I had gone prior to the merge with Salvatore's (nothing against Salvatore's, love their pizza and am glad they brought back the donuts), as it would have been nice to see the place entirely as Donuts Delite. I got a cronut and sour creme glazed and both are delicious. The cronut is so nice and fluffy and the sour creme glazed is crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and really flavorful. I've never had the original cronut from Dominique Ansel in NYC, but this one is pretty amazing in my opinion.
