    Shrimp and fries

Definitely stop here!!! We ate lunch at this really cool spot in Woodbine, Ga. There was sooo much food!!!!! We have tons left over. Doo Dad is the coolest! He's 74, retired here and kept working. Love it! Love it!! The portions are huge!

Delicious and hot fried seafood...with a few other choices if seafood isn't your thing. $10 for each plate, but they had to use rubber bands to close the box because there's so much food. Food was still hot when I got home 20 minutes later. Great quality fish, shrimp and chicken (whole white meat in the tenders). Crinkle cut fries fresh and hot; nothing was greasy or over seasoned. Sweet potato pie simple, yet tasty. Can't wait to go back!

After seeing this place on a recent trip up US17 I knew that next time I had to stop. So this time I stopped and wow, I could t have been more pleased! The fish was fried to perfection and so was the shrimp. The sweet tea was the best I've ever had! Whole I had never had a whole fried pork chop before, this place made me a fan!

Oh my, what a great dining experience! Driving from S. FL to Marietta, GA I made a stop at Captain…read moreStan's Smokehouse in Woodbine, GA, looking for some southern comfort food. Looking from the parking lot I wasn't sure, but once I entered the premises I knew the place would at least be a fun experience. They have indoor and outdoor dining, a stage , a fountain to wash hands after some awesome tasting BBQ. That is saying a lot for me, who isn't the biggest fan of BBQ. ( I was hoping for fried liver, but was wowed by the great meal I chose!) I had the Holy Trinity, which had amazing Boston butt with baked beans and coleslaw. My side was southern comfort food: collard greens. The Boston butt was aromatic with the smoking that was done to it & tender. It had no need for any additional BBQ sauce as the baked beans added wonderful flavor topped with the crunchiness of a creamy coleslaw! Heaven in your mouth! The collard greens were a perfect addition. What I loved about the greens is they had some smoky (bacon) taste but it wasn't overpowering and salty like I've had at some places. It was just right and the perfect side to the meal. I found the portion just right for the weary traveler I was that day. The waitress was efficient and helpful in making a decision as to what to get. The ambiance was rustic country with families coming in for their dinners. The fountain they use for washing hands was a cute touch. And I even got to enjoy some live music before I left on a weeknight no less! And by the way the music was enjoyable as it wasn't blasting but added to the quaint ambience this place offers its customers. A definite need to go back there!

Luckily there was a space heater right next to us to provide warmth. The outdoor seating had big heaters too, but they were reluctant to turn those on. The place had a really laid-back, country ambiance, like you would imagine a bbq joint to have. There were rolls of paper towels at the tables and your food comes in a plastic tray lined with aluminum foil and some plastic silverware. I had the centercut rib meal specifically because it comes with two sides and I wanted baked-beans and collard greens. The collards were but big unlike the chopped stuff I've had in the past and were good. The baked-beans were also good and I ate most of those too. The ribs (two) looked beautiful with the bark seasoning and they tasted good too. The meal came with some bread that did not taste good and I didn't want to eat all of it. The sweet tea was fabulous and you get free refills and already comes in a styrofoam to-go cup for the win. The service was excellent. The two younger waitresses were very nice, attentive, and helpful. No problems there. We learned from them that there is live music many nights during the week in the evening from around 5-6pm to close (I think around 9pm) Although I had a great experience at Captain Stan's, I unfortunately cannot say that the food is life-changing, which is what I am looking for with BBQ. The prices were fair and the portions were more than adequate. *tip - they offer a military discount.

I ordered the blackened red snapper with fried green tomatoes and baked beans, and everything was absolutely delicious. The snapper was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor, and the sides did not disappoint. My husband went with the crab legs, which were also amazing! Our waiter, Eisa, was great and really helped make the lunch special. I mentioned that it was my husband's birthday, and the staff went all out...they brought him a complimentary dessert, sang Happy Birthday, and even put the Mr. Shuck's chain on him for the celebration. He loved it! And of course, we had to celebrate properly with Hennessy Sidecars and a couple shots of Hennessy. Great food, great service, and such a fun birthday vibe. Mr. Shuck's was the perfect way to start my husband's birthday celebration. We'll definitely be back!

We especially loved the shareable feasts. Such a nice touch that they bring out a complimentary shrimp sampler with your drinks while you wait! The service was exceptional. Our servers were friendly, fast, and incredibly attentive. We never had to ask for anything, including drink refills--they were always one step ahead. The atmosphere was impressive. The restaurant was spotless, beautifully decorated, and the background music created a relaxed vibe. I also loved that kids can draw on the paper tablecloths, and there are TVs at the bar if you're catching a game. It's a fantastic place for lunch, but it would also make a great date night spot. We ordered the blue crabs, shrimp, crawfish, and snow crab, and every single item was cooked to perfection. The flavors were outstanding, and even the sweet tea was perfect--not overly sweet, just right. If you're anywhere near Brunswick, Mr. Shuck's is an absolute must-try. We'll definitely be back!

It was fun to see the fresh caught fish in a display case on the way to order. At the end of our visit I chatted with one of the staff and she was super friendly to this out of towner. I personally had one of the specials - Cobia grilled with teriyaki glaze and mango salsa and fried okra instead of fries. The fish was cooked perfectly, not dried out, the flavor combination was well balanced. The okra was plentiful and, while I prefer cornmeal batter (Cracker Barrel style), this batter was seasoned just right and cooked to a nice golden color. I noticed that even though everything has a fried option, the restaurant didn't smell greasy or fishy. My husband had a fried chicken sandwich that he enjoyed and my nephew had a cheeseburger that looked delicious too. No one walked away hungry or disappointed today. Only thing I missed was trying dessert, but we headed out just before it got busy with the dinner crowd. I would definitely eat here again and recommend to friends!

The restaurant is situated so magnificently right on the water that it almost feels as though you are floating directly on the river. Upon arriving, one is greeted by a rather striking shark specimen suspended right at the entrance which gave us quite a playful laugh at first glance Stepping inside, the interior is wonderfully clean, vibrant, and well-appointed, featuring lovely artwork and charming private dining nooks. Though it was briskly busy for Sunday service, the ambiance remained thoroughly pleasant and impeccably maintained. We were seated toward the back of the establishment, offering an utterly magnificent, unobstructed view of the river. To begin, I selected a crisp Corona Extra with a fresh slice of lemon, while my assistant opted for a fine beer. For our luncheon, we ordered a platter of raw oysters, which were extraordinarily fresh, perfectly chilled, and thoroughly divine for a late-afternoon meal. To top off a splendid day, we indulged in a warm cinnamon roll for dessert a delightfully decadent sweet finish. Watching the breathtaking sunset cast its glow over the water made for a truly magical afternoon. Impeccable views, fresh cuisine, and a wonderful atmosphere I shall most certainly be returning!
