It's been so long and can't believe I've not reviewed Dockside before. Well, we arrived just before the lunch rush after our 7:12 tee time. I chose the combo 2 as I was pretty hungry. Fried fish and shrimp with fries and slaw. Everything cooked to order and that kitchen has it going on. Served hot and fresh and fried to perfection and well seasoned. It was really one of the best fried seafood platters that I can remember - seriously ! The line was steady the entire time we were eating but it was moving steadily. Parking lot is currently undergoing some updates (July 2026) so be prepared when you arrive. I only wish there was a location closer to home but regardless, this place is worth the drive from anywhere in Jax and surrounding areas. read more

My last review was a 5 and this review is another 5. I took a friend who lives in Jacksonville but he had never tried Dockside. He told me he is moving his birthday dinner (in about a month) to dockside. The fried shrimp are spot on and the my wife had grilled flounder which she loved. Service is order and pay on the front end but they bring it to you. Not sure why but they are stingy with ice for your drinks. This is a very solvable problem so let's work on that. Parking can be a challenge so carpool if you are coming in a group. read more

I'm writing this review as I'm watching my boyfriend demolish the best tasting Snapper we've ever had in our entire lives. Which together, adds to be over a century of time. Eating snapper from what feels like one world to another. THIS IS THE BEST. The flavor. The fry. The presentation. Everything. He got fried shrimps with it. We were on our way back home from the beach and decided to pop into Dockside on my friend's suggestion. Glad we did! Line out the door but it moved quickly. We sat outside by the water and food was brought to our table. The black eyed peas were my favorite with hints of Smokey bacon. I enjoyed the gumbo but it tasted more like a delicious chowder than traditional gumbo. I'm okay with that. We're not on the gulf where I was raised so my expectation are low when it comes to receiving anything close. Fried fish was fresh and came with a balanced slaw. Dockside is a bit off the beaten path but absolutely worth seeking out, we loved it so much we went twice! The staff here are genuinely some of the friendliest we encountered on our whole trip. Warm, kind, and attentive every time. After reading Yelp reviews we knew we had to try the crab cakes and clam chowder, and on our first visit they did not disappoint. We also did the Dockside Combo with haddock, shrimp, and the market catch, the shrimp were huge and incredibly fresh. You have a choice of blackened, grilled, or fried and personally I'd go blackened every time. That first visit was truly start-to-finish excellent, a 5-star experience without question. I'll be transparent though, our second visit was a different story, which was disappointing after such a strong first impression. The crab cakes had an off, overly fishy smell and we couldn't eat them. Consistency matters, and that visit fell short. That said, the first experience was so memorable that we'd go back. Every place has an off day. Just maybe skip the crab cakes to be safe, which is genuinely sad because when they're on, they're delicious. If you're in Jacksonville and love seafood, make the trip. read more

Legitimate 10/10. I got the combo of 2 with blackened basa and fried scallops plus a side salad--literally finished every single bite. No crumbs left and zero leftovers taken home! This was some of the best seafood I've had in a long time. The service was quick, the line moved fast, and we had no trouble finding a table. This place gets busy lunch time as well and dinner. Upon a collection of visits the average is about 20 people in line to order but the line seems to move after a few minutes wait. It can go out the door and down the ramp at busiest times. There is self parking and valet parking. In the restraint You order at the counter ,receive a table pager, to find a first come first serve table seat. Go to a counter to receive your beverage. The food comes out to the table pretty quick and it consistently comes cooked well. Some of our favorites are the fried fish (flounder especially), fried shrimp. They can have beer and mini size wines, as well as Fountain drinks. The view is nice many tables with water view. Nice lunch spot near the beach. read more

Decent spot for some casual seafood, but I think I over hyped it in my mind. I had heard good things about it, and seen so many reviews online. And even parking was kind of hard to find, so the earlier you can go, the better. Overall, the menu is on the heavier side because so many things are fried. But a lot of things are pretty hit or miss. I was a big fan of the clam chowder. It was super flavorful without being too salty, and had a good amount of clams. The raw oysters were alright. I think the quality was fine. And I liked how cold they were. But the shucking and playing was kind of messy. Each oyster that I ate had a lot of crunching and a lot of picking out shell pieces and stray ice, so not the most pleasant experience. The dockside combo wasn't as worth as I thought it would be. Definitely a lot of food because everything is pretty heavy, but you only get one piece of crab cake and deviled crab. I wouldn't really get the deviled crab again. It was sooo salty. And the texture was a little too mushy for my liking. I thought it would have crab chunks or something. The crab cake was one of my favorites of the night though. The whole thing was practically crab chunks with a good flavor, without being too salty. The scallops were decent too. The flavor didn't really stand out to me, but the texture was nice. I was a big fan of the sides that came with the combo though. The cole slaw was nice to have something cold and fresh on hand. The fries were so crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. And the seasoning was so addicting. But my favorite was the hush puppy and I wish I had more. It was so crispy and bready and sweet. We also got the fried calamari. The breading they use is sooo good and flavorful. Like could debate that the calamari didn't even need sauce. But of course the sauce does help to cut through all the grease. I wish the squid chunks were bigger though. They kind of disappeared within the breading. So as calamari it was fine, but as a dish in general it was good, because the breading was so tasty. Also idk of their sauces are made in house, but I wanted their cocktail sauce to have more of a kick. And their tartar just tasted like mayo to me. read more

A long line almost turned my family away but thanks to all the great reviews I had read, I convinced them that it should be worth it and I was right! Yes, the line was out the door on a Saturday night, but it moved fairly quickly, we got to the front in about 20-25 minutes and then the food came out shortly after. I'm not a huge seafood fan but I can tell the difference between good and bad and this was one of the best. All the fish dishes were fresh. The fries were average. I loved that they offered most items as fried, grilled, or blackened. I was impressed because most seafood places like this only offer fried. I also loved that they offered a few non-seafood options like chicken and hamburgers so everyone can enjoy something. I highly recommend the clam chowder, unique but tasty. All of the staff were kind and hardworking. I appreciated the staff member who came by while we were waiting in line to see if we had any questions. One thing to note is that you will have to get up to ask for a refill on soft drinks. If you are having alcoholic beverages, I would recommend ordering 2 glasses of wine or 2 bottles of beer so you don't have to go back up to order. We went to Dockside Seafood for lunch. We arrived at 11:30am on a Saturday and found the last free parking space. After that the next option looked like you had to valet park. My wife and I shared the combination seafood platter (fried shrimp and clams). Wow it was very good and great flavor! This was some of the best fried shrimp we've in a long time. Favorite casual seafood spot in Jax! There is usually a line so prepare for that. However, the line usually moves quick and is worth it! The seafood is fresh and a wide variety. Wow! Just when I thought I had found the best seafood in Jacksonville, I found this place! I tried to here a few months ago, but it was lined out the door and nowhere to park. Now I know why! You ordered the counter and then you can find a table at the grouper bites is an appetizer, and shrimp basket. Everything was phenomenal! Super fresh fish and shrimp. The shrimp wrapped absolutely huge and some of the best I've ever had. Their peak sauce that they offer so damn yummy. Fries were cooked perfect, hush puppies, good, and a slaw great! Service is really good. Everybody was finally seemed happy to be there. It was pretty full, but nothing like it was during the summer. Absolutely one of the best seafood places I've ever been to. I like to go at three 4 o'clock Ish as it's not too busy the billboard menu and fresh fishes are great on this trip. I enjoyed a fried shrimp basket with french fries hush puppies and coleslaw. Also, we had a fish fresh. Flounder was delicious. We found ourselves on a failed trip to an undisclosed destination near the beach and we were far from home, So nothing better to do than eat. I loved the complimentary valet parking. He received a tip for his assistance and friendliness. We made it through the long cashier line pretty quickly. I didn't know it's best to know what you want when you get in line, or be decided by the time you get to the cashier. It's a different set up for me but it's efficient, so I'm not complaining. Once inside, The view was wondrous. It was fun watching the boats come in with kids and dogs having a great time on the boats. Good music at a level that was purely background and enjoyable. We could still have a conversation. Food came out quickly. We ordered calamari plate. The fries, slaw, hush puppies and house dipping sauce were delicious. The calamari were crispy but too bready, which took away from the possibility of any tenderness to the meat. They were maybe a little too salty as well. The house dip helped. Came into Dockside for lunch today. Thankfully we beat the afternoon rush. Parking can fill up quick, although there is complimentary valet. During peak hours the line can stretch to the road. That's purely a testament to what I declare, by far, Jacksonville's best place for fresh seafood, cooked just how you like. They consistently deliver a high quality meal each and every time. Today was no exception. I ordered a fresh catch cobia basket, conch fritters, a fresh catch pick 2 including flounder and shrimp. For about $65, my wife and I satisfied our craving for great seafood. The parking/line to get in can be very deceiving, but it moves quickly. There is a good amount of seating indoors and outdoors, and the food gets delivered to your table pretty quickly. They did forget an item, however there were plenty of workers walking around checking on tables and it was quickly resolved. I've been to Dockside several times and the food is good. The one star is for the online ordering process that I used for the first time today. I went to the website to order about 5:30pm. It said the pick up time would be 6:20. I tried to pay and there was a spinning icon for a long time then and error message. I tried to order again... spinning forever so I gave up and ordered Relish. Picked it up, had dinner and checked my phone. I had an email from Dockside sent at 6:17 confirming it would be ready at 6:20!!!!! That's messed up. I drove there. Parking was awful. There is to go parking but it isn't well marked so i walked frot m the park area. I had planned to ask to speak to a manager but the place was so packed I just didn't have the energy to deal with it. Got home and of course it was cold but I wasn't hungry anyway and the leftovers won't be good. Such a waste or my time and money. I really don't trust the online system. A confirmation email should come right away or it should time out or something. I would love a response from Dockside. read more

Finally I was able to try Dockside. We went on a Saturday at 11:30am. It was not packed but when we left at 12:30pm oh boy long lines. We started out with calamari and clam chowders. Both were very good and a must. Me and my wife ordered the Mahi Ruben. It came with a lot of fries and real good Cole slaw. My daughter ordered a shrimp po boy and loved it. The Ruben had to much sauce I couldn't taste the fish. I ate the fish separately and it was very good. The place has a great view. Service is fast in and out. All the servers were very good and came back very fast to our requests. We will be going back for sure. read more

It's fair to say, 1) Floridians like their seafood & 2) they freaking do it right! The service, always on point. So damn friendly all you Floridians! We wanted to try some gator since we were visiting Jacksonville for a few days and this place was recommended by my sweet cousin. I loved the cute ambiance; we were able to find a table really quickly even though it seemed pretty busy. I liked that this was a casual "order and find your table" vibe. The gator tail was great; tasted like popcorn chicken. Lol. We loved all the food. It tasted very fresh and was well seasoned. I loved all the sauces that were given to us, as well.
