This is a great value if you are a big eater and care more about quantity versus quality and taste. However my wife is a very small eater and I don't eat as much as I used to so the value for us wasn't as great. With the mixed reviews, we knew were were in for a great meal or a bad one, we were not expecting anything in between. It clearly leaned toward the later. The cleanliness of the dishes were hit in miss. You could pick up a plate or fork and it would have dried food on and so you go get another. The restaurant itself is very large and looks really nice. We were very happy with the service provided to us. The best thing on the menu was the fried pork chop, fried chicken, and mashed potatoes. OK as long as she's had plenty of sauce, but I didn't see the fried ribs they were talking about that I was looking forward to trying. The fried shrimp was popcorn shrimp and wasn't great and they didn't offer fish this night or at least we didn't see it. Most if not all the vegetables were cold and had little flavor. The worst dish by far was the fried Okra. One bite and I was done From the dessert bar I enjoyed the banana pudding and had two helpings. The wife thought the pecan pie was pretty good. She absolutely hated the lemon meringue pie which was grainy in texture an overly sweet. And both of us thought the coconut cream pie was not good at all. I stopped here for lunch while traveling in the area. There is a large parking lot so no trouble parking. This is a buffet restaurant that has many choices of meats, salads, veggies and desserts. I started with a salad that was fresh and good dressing. Next I tried the collards, mashed potatoes and fried chicken. I was disappointed with the chicken but everything else was good. My next trip there was shrimp out which is why I came. I got boiled and fried and both were delicious. Desserts were just average or below average, so nothing to recommend. The place was clean but it took a long time for the tables to be cleared. My waitress was seldom seen and I had to ask others for assistance a few times. We went into the Ole Times Country Buffet today with a large group. I was the bus driver for our senior adults at church. Before attending the event in Brunswick we went here for dinner first. Everything I had on the buffet was good. I really liked the fried shrimp and fried fish. Very good flavor! I also had a salad which was good. Definitely recommend Ole Times in Brunswick! Everyone was super nice and all the staff did a great job taking care of our large group. The food was okay but we could see them cleaning in the back and breaking the food area down and that was a bit of a turn off. Service was okay. Wrong choice. Dry and crusty. Went to see if fish had been replenished. Watched kitchen staff pour into pan with several pieces sliding onto counter near people. He picked up and piled on top. Ewww. This place was an amazing buffet, even bigger than golden corral, and Golden corral is one of my favorites, but this place was just out of this world. Firstly, you've got friendly staff, secondly, you've got amazing food with an insane amount of choices. And lastly, the place isn't actually too loud despite how many people were there and it was PACKED. They also have probably the most amazing steaks I've ever tried. I highly recommend this place, just don't make the same mistake I did and give yourself horrible stomach pain the next day from all the food and then decide to run on the treadmill only two hours later. In the past, we were frequent visitors to the Ole Times Country Buffet. I personally had written this location off my choice list for noon meals. However, this trip occurred early Sunday evening. We paid $25 / person (including tip.) The food choice was abysmal. There were NO beef options and most of the pork options were terrible. The only passable choice was Boston Butt; it was prepared well, but the sauce choice was not. The vegetable choices were also lacking. The dessert choices were few, but the flavor was excellent. The service we received was superior for this location. The ambiance was surprisingly pleasant for this location. It is normally extremely noisy but was not this visit. This place is a lot bigger than I expected. Parking: narrower parking is in front of the door along with 6 places for motorcycles. More spacious parking is to the right side of the building as facing the front door. The food is okey is is more towards being bland. By the number of people here the food must be good to them. The ribs, BBQ, and chicken was firm requiring you to use dentures if you got them. The only item I would complement on is the fried fish. Corn meal battered and crunchy still has the diners lining up for more. The place is clean and everyone is nice. There's no guidance on where to go when coming in. I stood in line behind a woman who was taking a while to debate the cost. Meanwhile the other line was being operated by 3 people who appeared to be busy with something else. A local came in and went directly to that line knowing it was open. I took my ticket and sat it on a table before scouting out the buffet lines and then going back to fill my plate. I returned to the table and no tea so I took my ticket to the drink are to get a tea. A lady there told me to go back to my table and they would bring over the tea. I wanted to like it. There were some great things. Particularly the service. I sat next the the waitress area, but they we're definitely on top of everything. The parking area was massive and the restaurant entrance was welcoming. I paid (just me this time ) and sat down. I saw plates across from the buffet, but missed the silverware at the front entrance. Hot food first and I was pleased with the various selections. The chicken wings were really good. I'm not a fried food fan (I know, I know) but all the fried items looked fabulous. From all of the selections, the baked mac and cheese was the best. The meat selections were a bit odd (neck meat and crazy pig parts). The baked chicken looked slimy. The mashed potatoes were very good but I put the trash, box gravy on them and ewwww. Veggies were a bit bland but properly cooked. Cold salads were bland and everyone should understand, Georgia is NOT represented when canned peaches are used in the cobbler. Yet the cobbler was not bad at all. The ice cream is the powder kind and my piece of cake sat out for a bit too long. Bathrooms are clean and I really can't say enough good things about the service. Please don't think this is a good representation of southern food. It needs a lot more seasoning for that. You northerners can visit this one all you like. This is a really big restaurant with lots of food to choose from on their buffet. The fried chicken was amazing, piping hot and fresh off the cooker. They had so many sides like Mac & cheese, collards, cabbage, other greens, kernel, on the cobb and cream style corn . The salad bar was extensive with great looking veggies, fresh lettuce and peel and eat shrimp. The dessert bar was also extensive. They have whatever you want to drink and the wait staff was on top of clearing any finished plates pretty quickly. And no Brunswick Stew in Brunswick, GA? Also nice salad bar, which we mostly ignored having not eaten all day. Good spread of desserts too, banana pudding, pecan pie, lemon meringue pie, chocolate pie, cookies, blackberry cobbler and soft serve ice cream. The highlight was peach cobbler, of course for Georgia, spectacular. Biggest drawback was a bit pricey at $80 for our party of five. Military discount of $1 a bit low. But overall a great variety. Quantity AND quality? It's worth the hour drive up from Jacksonville. Be warned, lunch and dinner are different. Lunch is a couple bucks cheaper, but no fried shrimp and seafood and less meats. I'd rather pay extra for those shrimp, they're consistently the best fried shrimp I've ever had. I definitely recommend the rolls, grab extra butter. The crinkle cut fries are perfect. Mashed potatoes, carrots, peas? All exemplary. The desserts I find somewhat lacking, though the last lunch I went to had a really good cheesecake style dessert. I wish the ambrosia had cherry halves in it. Service varies. I've found the lunch cashiers/servers to be super nice, and the dinnertime ones to be apathetic to outright rude. We used to have one in Tifton but we're having to go to Valdosta. Come to Jekyll and seen it and this one is amazing and holds true to its roots. After paying 36.00 For two including a 2.00 charge for a CUP Of water we found out daily does not include Sunday but what is included is an extra charge for Sunday. Food was absolutely terrible. This buffet is AMAZING. Good southern cooking with a comforting atmosphere. With so many delicious selections on the buffet, please make sure you bring your appetite! They also have options to purchase fresh picked veggies and other local items at the front of the store. All the staff were helpful and kind.
