No response. Continues swiffering. There's no way to see the items in the window display because they're blocked by other merchandise. I ask, do you know much the item is? This is one of my favorite children shops. They carry all unique and trendy clothes. The owner is supper knowledgeable about products. I always learn something new by listening to her. We had a rocking chair from this place. The order took us almost two months since everything was hand made. We used the chair for not only nursing my daughter but also hanging at the chair for everything. Since many things are very expensive, I go straight to sale's section. :) But I love this place. This year, due to obvious circumstances, my husband and I wanted to shop exclusively at local businesses for Christmas. This wasn't super difficult except when it came to all the kids in our lives. We didn't know if a local kids store, and we stumbled on this place. I was blown away with the adorable stuff in here. Yes, it's small, but that did not mean inventory was low. I LOVED finding unique gifts that I know my nieces and nephews won't get from other people shopping at big box stores. And with a newborn myself, I was thrilled to find that they carry Magnetic Me onesies (which we love). I am happy to support this small business and don't feel like I'm doing any favors in doing so because I feel lucky for the finds! read more

This place is adorable. And I think pricey. But I don't have a baby, and I don't want one, so I don't know how much baby things cost. The clothes were cute and organic. There was organic furniture. I happened to stop in when the owner was there, and she told me she is a retired accountant or something and took a chance on this shop. It was decorated all snuggly, but not overly so. The walls were clad, shocker, in mostly pink and brown decor. I wondered at how German strollers could be organic, but not aloud. I bought an organic diaper changing travel mat thingy that rolls up and goes in a diaper bag for around $40--not a bad price and their return policy is more than satisfactory, so I got a gift receipt. I really am not the target demographic for Pink and Brown as I do not have a child and do not care if something is organic, but this store helped me give two gifts that were much adored by the receivers, so that is worth 5 stars to me! I went in looking for a baptism gift for my goddaughter and a birthday gift for my 3 year old niece. As soon as I entered I was visibly lost and perplexed as I have no idea what kids like; I guess metal Tonka Trucks are not organic enough for today's youth. The friendly saleswoman asked me what I was looking for and I just told her about the two gifts I needed and she immediately steered me towards the area of stuffed toys. They all had this beautiful handmade look and I knew they would loved by my niece. She also helped me find a great keepsake gift for the baptism. The items were a touch expensive, but judging by the reactions I got from my niece and my sister-in-law, on behalf of my infantile goddaughter, it was well worth it. I've been going to Pink and Brown since they opened. I do have a daughter, and yes, when I go, I spend a fortune here (sorry, husband...). But it's also easy to buy the items because their clothes: a) feel so nice and soft, b) are organic, c) are so beautifully paired with one another, d) are unique (you're not going to run into a zillion kids at preschool with the same Old Navy and Gap outfit) and e) are SO cute--especially for boys!!! so hard to find anywhere...In addition, the women who work here are *very* helpful, which is wonderful for a fashion zero like me, who has to have matching clothing handed to her lest I wear stripes with plaid. To those who felt they were being followed around the store: did ya entertain saying, "Thank you, but I prefer to browse and shop on my own. Can I call on you if I need you?" Easy peasy. Polite. Mature. Your experience would have been much more pleasant, sans doute.... La-la-LOVE this store. The best for gorgeous kids clothing in Alexandria. Pricey? Yes. Its funny to read these reviews as I have had the opposite experience from some of their patrons. I have never been harassed, stalked, or eyeballed by the employees. I have had a wonderful experience shopping in this store and the owner and employees have been a wonderful part of that experience. Actually I ordered some furniture through them and the distributor had trouble with the delivery. The owner of Pink and Brown was not only apologetic but got on the phone with the delivery men and explained to them exactly how I was to be taken care of. NOW THATS SERVICE! I have also bought clothes for my girl friend's son. Yes it was expensive but I chose to spend that money, besides the clothing was so cute how could I resist. I will be shopping there for my daughter in the future (I'm expecting and due in Feb) maybe not for all of her and my needs but definitely some. read more

This is a terrific small business! I'm expecting my first baby in a few months and would like to cloth diaper. Trying to figure out the process online is very confusing, luckily I stopped in this store and found out they specialize in cloth diapering. A sales associate at Pink and Brown patiently explained everything to me. She cloth diaper her daughter, and clearly knew all the ins and outs. She even indicated to she would through everything again at a later date if I wanted to bring my husband in for Cloth Diapering 101. Their clothes are all really cute, but pricey. I'm not sure I'll be buy our baby girl much clothing from here, but it would be a terrific place to get a unique baby present for a friend. read more

This place is very cute BUT the salespeople are worse than used car salesmen! They ruin the entire shopping experience! With a new baby girl, I love shopping for her. I like walking around boutique shops and finding new, one of a kind items. But, when I went to Pink and Brown this weekend, the sales women were on me like glue. I literally couldn't walk a step without having them hand me an item I had no interest in. Like, they handed me clothes, blankets, and stuffed animals without me asking for them. I politely felt the items, commented on their beauty, and tried to walk around them. I ended up buying a $15 item out of guilt. I felt like it was my price of admission to actually be allowed to leave the store. By the way, this store is also way over priced. Appleseed down the road is just as cute with better salespeople and items. read more

The staff is super friendly and helpful. I was looking for Kleynimals. They had them and gave me directions to an engraver up the block so I could get a name put on which was the one difference between the internet and the store. I would rather buy local anyways. Staff is only interested in selling. Make sure you understand the return/ exchange policy. I purchased a pricey hat for my 1 year old granddaughter a few days before Christmas and was told I could return/ exchange it if it did not work out. It was quite small, even though it was labeled 1-2year old. When I went to exchange the hat I was told rather curtly that I could not exchange it without the receipt, which was misplaced in the Christmas chaos. It still had all of the tags on and was in the original bag. Very disappointing! I will NEVER shop here again and will be donating a cute, made in China, Llama hat. Learned my lesson. read more

Pink & Brown is the answer to my baby gift prayers. Admittedly, it is a bit pricey, but it is so nice to be able to go there and get things that you know no one else will be giving as a gift at the shower or whatever event you are attending. I love the organic clothing and the selection of things that are just so cute that it's hard to leave them behind. This is my "go to" store for all my baby gifts and I recognize that it has to be a bit more expensive because of where it's located and I'm okay with that. Very cute little store, has good selection of shoes, clothes and toys for our toddler. Their price is a bit higher than Why Not store. We bought a fire truck toy for our son and later found out Why Not store carries the same one but a few buck cheaper. We found a nice pair of sneaker for our son and bought it for him. The price is higher than department store, but the sneaker is eco friendly and looks pretty comfortable so we don't mind spend a bit more. Some toys and stuff they have in store are not found in department store, very unique and educational. read more

I second the reviews that this place sells super cute, high end baby/kids clothes. It's just hard to afford them. My only complaint is that some of there stuff is so overpriced and you can get the exact same item elsewhere (including Why Not) for 10-25% less. I've noticed this with several items - not the clothes which are definitely boutique. I did mind the salespeople. I received some really cute swaddle blankets from pink and brown Boutique for a baby shower but unfortunately I already had more swaddle blankets that I need it and was very curious to check out pink and brown Boutique because it looks really neat and fancy just like me lol... and because there are not a lot of baby stores in the area anymore but they lost a potential very heavy spending customer before I could even become a customer. All I wanted to do was exchange the swaddle blankets for something different and then also buy a bunch of other cute stuff at the boutique but they refused to even let me do an exchange. Apparently they don't do returns or exchanges not that I wanted to do a return all I wanted to do was exchange for something else I could really use. In order for them to be successful they are going to have to work on their customer service and there customer service policies because I can just take my expensive taste back to Pottery Barn kids and Restoration Hardware baby where they give me great customer service. read more

Buyer Beware! Very disappointing and deceptive! What their policy on returns/exchanges varies depends on the day. I was shopping for gifts for a new mom while I overheard another customer asking if she could return an item. The salesgirl returned her item pleasantly and with no trouble. Since I was flying out the next day, I asked if I could do any needed returns the next day and she said that was fine. The next day I went back, with the same salesgirl, and she and the owner told me everything was final sale and that their system could not do returns. Even though I was visiting my friend and live 10 states away, she would not budge. I gave my friend the store credit and she was treated poorly while trying to use it months later. Cute boutique and as much as I want to support local business - they have a pretty crappy return policy. I came in here with my husband and 3 month old and the owner talked my husband and I into a pair of baby mittens to keep my son from scratching his face. I explained to her that no baby mittens fit him because has such large hands and they all have elastic bands at the wrists that are too small for his size. She told me that this particular pair didn't have elastic and that it had a velcro closure instead. My husband took the bait and purchased them for $20 or $25. We get them home and I went to put them on the baby and they do in fact have elastic bands at the wrists under the velcro tab and were too small for my son. I took them back to the store and was of course reminded of their exchange-only policy. I reminded the same woman who sold them to us that she had said they didn't have elastic at the wrist and she apologized and admitted her mistake. I told her that because of her misrepresentation I thought we should have a refund and she refused -- exchange only. So, I grabbed a few books to exchange for the price of the gloves and she rang them up. Then she told me that she actually still owed me $1.42 and said, "so we can just call it even." I said, "fine I guess" getting more and more annoyed however, she then recalculated the items and realized I actually owed her $1.42 ... to which she informed me that I would need to come up with that!! So she was totally ok with shorting me that amount but now I had to come up with it? I didn't have any cash on me and said that I'd have to charge it on my card and she told me they had a minimum amount for credit card purchases and it would have to be cash. I told her that this was ridiculous and that it was because of her misrepresentation that we even made the purchase in the first place. She still resisted but finally relented. I left and vowed never to shop there again. In fact, recently my mom was in town and wanted to take my son on a kickee pants shopping spree there and I totally refused and made her leave the store. I will not shop their again and I'm sad to have such a cute store with such ridiculous policies! read more

I just had my first baby girl and this store was so incredibly helpful in teaching me things every new mother should know. There clothes are high end but very good quality as they focus on organic fabrics. I also like that they offer wooden toys, its nice to get away from all the plastic. I don't even know where to begin. The merchandise is great but customer service terrible. First they lost my registry and called to tell me folks had been stopping in but there was nothing on file. So I told them I would go over and put up another registry instead of having to return tons of stuff later. So I drive all the way there only to be told they found the registry and had called me. When I checked my phone and realized I hadn't gotten any calls I called back to confirm the registry was ok and got the owner. Then she basically told me I was wrong and that she'd been there when the employee had called to let me know they found the registry. Again, definitely no call reached me. But for some reason I kept my registry there until today when one of my friends called to tell me she'd never been treated so rudely in her life when she went there with her daughter, not surprisingly by the same employee who had compiled my registry initially.
