Gabe came and did the original free estimate for both garage doors and openers. Very professional, came in lower than 3 previous estimates with more value. He also threw in a spring replacement of my existing door to get my by while I waited for delivery. A few months later, the door panels arrived (custom color, so they had to order them) and I received courteous and professional calls to schedule the install. On the day of, with my garage cleared out, Joe and Jason came in the morning to remove all my existing hardware (doors, opener, rails, and external molding) and install the new doors. The job started around 10am and they finished around 2pm, an hour earlier than estimated. They were quick, polite, professional, clean and thorough. Only hitch is they weren't provided with the matching vinyl molding color, so I'm waiting for that to be scheduled and installed. I ended up with new garage doors and openers properly installed but it was difficult getting there. First I went with Door Pros even though they were in the middle of the bids because I felt comfortable with the salesman. Best part was he stated 1-3 week installation time. I then agreed and he required a 50% deposit, which I gave. I then received my formal paper work which stated a 4-6 week installation time. I emailed and called them to say that's not what is on my estimate that I accepted. I also told them that Contractor's State License Board (CSLB) allows only a 10% deposit or $1000, whichever is less. After insisting that the contract is invalid if they don't meet the 3 week deadline, I was scheduled within three weeks and they'll let others know about the too large of a deposit. I heard nothing back about their asking for a deposit that was too large and was hence illegal. However, after I sent them a copy of the email from CSLB stating that they violated the law I received a credit within 2 hours. The day of the install came and I got 30 minute advance notice, which is normal. However, I emailed earlier to confirm that they were still coming out as scheduled. I got a response from the office pretty close to when the installers arrived. Not much time to clear out everything in a three car garage. The installers then told me how they would need to open up the finished ceiling of my garage. They said they'll try to keep the cutting to a minimum but they don't repair the holes. I said if you cause damage, you repair it. The salesman called me and said "all I have to do is...". I quickly responded that I don't have to do it, they do. They finally came up with a solution that didn't require them to cut and patch the ceiling. I'm okay with the installation but am very concerned on how aggressive I had to be to force Door Pros to meet their verbal and legal commitments and not take advantage of me. Finally, they didn't even offer to tell me about the $200 worth of freebies I was eligible for thru the purchase and installation of the Lift Master garage door openers. I happened to find that out on my own. 5/14 edit - For those that are skeptical, I have attached the email chain from CSLB. Also, this is no reflection on the employees and their performance as they are only doing what management directs them to do. 5/16 edit - The door was sagging in the middle and in order to make it seal to the garage floor on the ends the middle was completely smashing the rubber seal. I was concerned that after a few years I would need to replace the seal so I left a message in the evening and a technician came the following morning. I was pleased with the quick response. However, after I showed him the door he said, "Well, every door in America sags". So, I had to get aggressive again, and he finally offered to send someone out to install a larger door seal. My appointment is next week. Hope it goes well. 5/21 edit - Updating from 2 to 3 stars. they did replace the rubber seal on both doors and ensured that it was sealng without completely smashing the rubber seal in the middle of the door. Overall, staff does a god job, it's the business model of violating the law and requiring the customers to get aggressive in order to respond to the customers concerns that remains an issue. read more

I would avoid. Had these guys out for an annual tune-up. An annual tune-up is something they recommend, and seems reasonable. They charged $129 and spent all of 8 minutes at my house (after moving the service date once, changing the arrival date via a call around noon that day, and then were late on arrival from the revised time). Company was there a total of 8 minutes from 6:26 to 6:34 PM (not hard to remember when I am clockwatching because they are late, and then later astonished when worker comes back to the door saying he was finished with the job in such a short time). Took 8 minutes which was primarily just lubricating the moving parts of the door and includes him filling out there lengthy invoice/receipt. (I lubricate those parts myself the other three quarters of the year-again on their recommendation). Talking to the company about this, they think it is fine. Some jobs take longer than other they say. And their costs have gone up. Really interesting business model. Feel totally screwed as we are talking about a charge that equals almost $1000/hour. read more

Door Pros installed two Clopay garage doors at my home in April 2022. Excellent workmanship and great communication with them. In recent weeks the double door, when nearly fully closed, would reverse to open. I called Door Pros last Wednesday and scheduled a service call. Travis arrived on Friday morning within the scheduled two-hour window. He replaced the transmit and receive sensor pair with a newer model and rewired them. The units are smaller and, more importantly, it's now easy to see the lights to let me know if they are synced; that makes it much easier to readjust the units in case they get loose and out of sync. He also lubricated the door pivots and spring. He also showed me how to use the myQ app on my iPhone so I can monitor the door's status and operate it remotely. I always recommend at least three quotes, but make sure door pros are on your list! Odds are, they will be the most competitively priced and the best customer service. That was my experience at least. I actually got quotes from 5 contractors; one was a neighbor who owned a door company, costco, lowes, and another well rated contractor. From the moment the owner, Josh, came to my house for the estimate I was impressed. I was happy with the quality of the clopay door he carries, with the insulated steel back and heavy gauge steel face. I was very specific with what I wanted (liftmaster 8500 jackshaft openers) and he was very understanding. I also wanted higher tracks for more overhead clearance, and it wasn't an issue. On top of everything, Josh threw in a remote key pad, and wireless transmitters by the door so there were no overhead wires. My only complaint was the installer left a bit of a mess at the end of the day. There were some screws and bolts scattered on the garage floor and driveway that would have punctured my tires if I didn't notice them. Also, the weather seal at the bottom was bunched up when the door closed. I brought these up to Josh and he was extremely responsive and apologized. He sent his installer the next day and corrected the weather seal and added a seal around the perimeter of the door. These guys are true pros, and you won't be disappointed. My LiftMaster garage door opener wasn't working, so I looked up a LiftMaster dealer, and these guys were the closest. The guy on the phone was nice, and got me an appointment same day. The technician spent a few minutes, checked things out, said the unit is dead, and we can sell you a new one for $900. This was an expensive unit that was only 6-7 years old, and I just found it hard to believe that the only option was to throw it away! So, the technician left. I called LiftMaster directly (which I should have done in the first place), they walked me through a few steps, and the unit works fine... I just need to replace the wall switch for $50. The person at LiftMaster laughed when I said the technician couldn't figure it out; she said she sees this all the time. I would not recommend these guys to anyone! read more

So after reading the Yelp reviews - which I now suspect are mostly shill reviews - I have to post MY experience... Most of the reviews are by people with 1 to 3 reviews under their belts - and are pretty obvious friends and family shill reviews. Seriously... I called them and made an appointment - saying my garage door has a problem, and it's begun squeaking really badly - and not closing correctly. They arrived promptly - and within 15 minutes said "I need all new hardware, and they recommend replacing the opener as well" without even diagnosing the problem - or telling me what was wrong. Just blaming the old hardware - no diagnosis. They gave me a quote for $577 to replace everything - and that did not include the operator (the actual drive motor system) which of course he tried to pressure me into saying the price hike in the new year would be BIG!!! The additional cost of the motor drive system was just over $400. So in total, he wanted $1000 to "fix" my garage door. His words: " I highly recommend switching your operator at the same time, I do know these motor prices are due for a price hike in the start of the year so the savings will be big! " So I called to get another quote and opinion. The other company DIAGNOSED THE ACTUAL PROBLEM - which was a crack on one of the framing pieces that braces the door, and it was putting pressure on the rollers - which was causing the squeak and the hard close. The opener and all of the hardware are just fine - the repair cost me about 25% of what these jokers were going to charge me, and what they were charging never would have worked - because the ACTUAL FIX included re-enforcing the framing around the door - which would have needed to be done - regardless of any new hardware. Major fail - high pressure sales - no diagnosis. Dude, I'm an engineer at heart. I understand mechanics, physics and COMMON SENSE. I hope you learn from this review. Diagnose the actual problem first - and quit trying to upsell things people don't need. I wonder how many others this has happened to.
