Even compared to Korean restaurants in other states with large Korean communities, the quality of the food is outstanding. The servers are always warm, friendly, and attentive. The galbi is a little expensive, but it is absolutely worth the price because of its exceptional quality and flavor. The Seafood Soft Tofu Stew and Beef Soft Tofu Stew are the best soondubu dishes we have ever had anywhere in the United States. The Seafood Pancake is also perfectly crispy and incredibly delicious. We have been loyal customers for about four years, and every time we visit, the owner's family welcomes us warmly and asks how we've been. They truly make us feel like part of the family. Actually surprised how good the food is because from the outside, it does not look like much. Very hole in the wall place but there is a good amount of parking available. The food alone gets a 5/5; some of the best Jjajangmyeon I ever had. I was skeptical getting the galbi because of the price point but the portions are HUGE with good amount of meat. One thing I wish they did was give more sides per portion because it's probably just a few bites per side and we had to ask for more. And it's one set per small table it seems like. One of my biggest concerns about moving to St. Pete's was the lack of solid Asian food, so we made it a point to check out a few Asian spots to get a feel for the scene down here. Coming from NYC, Korean restaurants are everywhere, but not all of them are great. I have to say, Dooriban was actually pretty good. I just wish their menu was a bit larger. Very stingy with their side dishes. As a Korean from Atlanta, I was surprised to see they charged for extra side dishes period. My understanding is.. One meal = one set of side dishes. So that should mean two meals = two sets, right? (I was trying to order two meals + one appetizer) Apparently, two meals = one set of side dishes for to-go. (Just FYI) When asking for 2 (which i didnt think of it as a big deal..) the lady sounded all flustered then transferred to someone else.. the employee starts speaking and is telling me one set per meal, so I said ok then two separate orders so i can get two sets of side dishes then? And he said not to do that again, and then further states "it's bc they dont want to be taken advantage of". Asking for two sets of side dishes for two separate meals isnt taking advantage. It seems to be taking advantage by only giving one set for two meals, when you'd get one set with one meal anyway, but that's just me. It didn't seem like a big deal to me, but the employee was talking as if I did something highly offensive and made it bigger than it had to be.. so after him going around in circles and hearing the owner raging in the background, I cancelled the order and got my food from sarione in tampa instead. This is building is an old converted Taco Bell. It's small and gets busy. It's a little dated but that's how you know it's going to be good. Service was fast, attentive, and friendly. Food came out quick. Large family style portions for a reasonable price, that's what you're looking for when wanting Korean food. Black bean noodles are a must for me, these hit the spot. Also had the beef bulgogi which had great flavor. Side dishes were minimal I've had better at other places but as long as there's radish and regular kimchi I'll live. If they're trying to gain more business during the week by only putting Jjampong on menu on the weekdays, this isn't it. Galbi: 2/5, it was sticky and flavor was lacking. Fried pork: 4/5, delish as always. Beef stew with clear noodles: 5/5, the best. Service is always on point but I won't be coming back since they changed Jjampong to weekdays. There aren't many authentic Korean restaurants around the St. Pete area so I totally understand why this place is ALWAYS busy (at least each time I've been here for dinner, and that's a lot). The food is delicious despite changing owners once or twice since opening. The menu is presented along with a corresponding array of pictures so if you're new to Korean food, you can feel at ease. We usually order the SEAFOOD PANCAKE, SEAFOOD TOFU SOUP, BOSSAM, GALBI and BUDAE JUNGOL. If you like pork belly, I highly recommend the BOSSAM. It's a gigantic serving size and it you eat it by yourself, I guarantee you'll have left overs for another meal. The flavors of the stews/soups are perfect and the meats are marinated well. Dining in, they do give you the available banchans (they run out of pickled radish and kimchi quite often) but in small quantities. I love their banchan options and we just found out recently they're all made in-house! My friends and I love this place and will always continue to frequent here. read more

Service was really slow but to be honest it's the same no matter what Korean restaurant you visit. Staff was friendly. They have a variety of options on the menu as well as a separate menu with pictures in case you need to see what the dish looks like. I ordered the beef bulgogi and hubs got the jja jang myum. We also got the veggie manu as an appetizer. Food was hot and fresh and delicious! I loved the bulgogi! So much flavor and the meat was tender and not fatty.
