I've tried the tonkatsu ramen with shrimp tempura, which was good for a cozy meal on a rainy night but I've had better ramen many times; the Szechuan beef noodle soup, which actually was pretty amazing I was very impressed but I'd guess it's the best thing on the whole menu; the Korean wings, flavor was good but they weren't as crispy as Korean wings should be; a sushi roll that I can't remember the name or taste of but I remember being satisfied so guessing that means it was good but not amazing; and the ginger creme brulee, which again had a good flavor but texture was slightly off. The meat was tender and juicy. The boa buns have lettuce, pickles, and hoisin sauces. So good! I just recommend a different type of lettuce or greens. I think they used iceberg lettuce. I ordered the lunch special. I ordered the Philly roll, the JB roll, and the shrimp tempura roll. The Philly roll has Krab, cream cheese and avocado. So glad I stopped in today to have lunch. Everyone be was so nice , especially the owner . ( I think he's the owner) Eastern Kitchen is one the former location of Capital taco but they added to the decor to make it have an Asian feel, it's really nice. Service was top notch,some of the best service I've had in awhile. They were happy we were there trying their food, they even sent us complimentary hot and sour soup. It was delicious, with a nice bit of spice which provided a little kick to the soup. My friend ordered the shrimp General Tso and I ordered the Pork Bao and Bulgogi bento box. The shrimp General Tso's was delicious, big plump fresh tasting shrimp with tempura brussel sprouts and baby carrots. It wasn't the traditional general tso's I've had but it was so good. The lunch bento box is a great price, 9.50 and it comes with 2 dumplings, ginger salad, rice, california roll, and your choice of meat from the list. I went with the Korean bulgogi and it was a great choice. The meat was well seasoned and fork tender, delish! Everything we had was on point, very fresh, hot, and we seasoned . My son and I were in the mood for Ramen noodles and a search through Yelp brought us to this restaurant. They had a bunch of two for one deals that I thought were amazing. They had two for one Ramen, two for one chicken, wings, and two for one potstickers. I ordered through Uber eats and the food got to the house fairly quickly. I liked how the broth was separated from the noodles, meat and veggies. I thought the broth was plain enough so that I could add my own sauces to turn it into a broth that I would enjoy. We got the Pork belly Ramen, I give the pork belly to my son. It was a little too chewy for my liking. The noodles were soft, and enjoyable. Of course I would've liked more, but the portion was average. The chicken wings would've been batter. Had they not been served in a plastic container that retained too much moisture and made the chicken wing soggy. But you could tell the flavor was there and had I ordered it in house and eaten it right away it would've been delicious. And the potstickers were just regular potstickers. Mel and I have seen Eastern Kitchen & Sushi pop up on Uber Eats a number of times, but we always chose to not order delivery from them before dining in with them, believing that Asian and Pan Asian cuisine and dining experiences really lose something in the presentation when you get it delivered (with the possible exception of New York-style Chinese take-out). This past weekend, we finally got to pay a visit to their location on 4th Street North and it was well worth the trip! For those who don't know, Eastern Kitchen & Sushi is located in the space where Capital Taco used to be, just yards away from Metro Diner, which sits on the opposite end of the strip plaza. Anyone who's frequented Metro knows how limited parking can be in that plaza, so be warned -- on weekends and evenings parking may be a little dicey. But once you've got that squared away and you walk in the door to Eastern Kitchen, you should be set for a fun dinner out. First of all, these folks had a beverage that was an absolute revelation for Mel and I: Chocolat Nigori sake! We are huge fans of Nigori sake -- the unfiltered, cloudy sake that gives the beverage a completely different taste and mouthfeel than clear, dry sake often served hot or used for sake bombs. That said, traditional Nigori can sometimes be an acquired taste because of its flavor -- not so with Chocolat, though! We ordered a bottle and it came with shot glasses meant for sipping, but I challenge anyone to have the self control not to shoot it like a dessert shot once you try it. It's reminiscent of some recent chocolate wines that have hit the market: slightly thicker than blended cream liqueur, all chocolate sweetness and no alcohol after-taste. Dangerous stuff -- careful you don't fall in love! Now, on to the stuff that really matters: the food! Eastern Kitchen & Sushi has one entire side of their menu dedicated to nigiri, sashimi, and sushi roll options, so sushi lovers should have plenty to choose from. We plan to go back and try some of those offerings, but on this visit we hit the other side of the menu, which features a wide variety of options from across a variety of countries. We tried to pick our appetizers and dinner options to reflect that diversity: 5-spice braised beef bao buns to start, then a Korean BBQ bowl for me and Tonkatsu Ramen for Mel. Everything was presented beautifully and had tremendous flavor. Mel did get the better dish, I must say -- their inclusion of pickled ginger gave the pork bone broth a very unexpected and delightful zing, which complimented the egg and other myriad flavors going on in that bowl. I liked mine a great deal, but I think my choice of soba noodles instead of brown rice made eating the dish a little harder than it had to be. Also, when ordering the bulgogi (thinly sliced steak) as your protein, keep in mind it's off the bone, and getting all the meat off can be a challenge. Amazingly, we found we had room for dessert after all that, so to wrap up our dining experience we ordered their tempura fried cheesecake with vanilla ice cream. If you've never tried cheesecake served this way, you're truly missing out -- the tempura batter and powdered sugar adds a whole new layer of flavor to the cheesecake and graham cracker crust that you will not believe. May try it next time with the green tea ice cream, but we're definitely getting it again! All in all, we had a very solid first dining experience at Eastern Kitchen & Sushi. We'll definitely be back to try their sushi offerings and definitely will be ordering delivery from them in the near future! read more

Wish I could give it zero stars. We've ordered take out a few times when I'm not in the mood to drive to my favorite sushi restaurant, Ahi Sushi. The food is hit or miss, could use a little spicing up. When I picked up my order I asked for extra ginger and wasabi, just because we know they don't give you enough. Remarkably they added an upcharge of $2, what? I asked if I were eating in the dining room would you charge me extra for what is essentially condiments? The person looked at me like I had 3 heads and stumbled before telling me it's the cost of the little plastic containers. I was stunned and if it wasn't so late I would have gone elsewhere. I will NEVER order here again. There are tons of choices in the area that are better and don't charge for condiments. The restaurant is a bit worn and needs some sprucing up. read more

This place is pretty good and has plenty of vegan and vegetarian options which is always a bonus for us. Loved the crispy Brussels sprouts with lychee - so different and delicious! They're marked vegan on the menu but came out with cream on top, they quickly took it back and replaced them. The seaweed salad was good too with some fresh cucumbers underneath. My partner got the miso ramen and LOVED it. Happy man eating his food. The two rolls I got were the Yam Yam and the Avergreen. Both were good and the crisp of the tempura on the sweet potato was GREAT! Sometimes it ends up kinda soggy but these were nice and crispy. Loved having a vegan option with the avocado wrapped around the sushi too! Nice touch I don't see often. And as a bonus everyone who worked there was extremely friendly and helpful! Probably one of my favorite Happy Hour menus in the area (served everyday from 3-5pm.) They have a pretty great selection- something for everyone for under $10 a plate. Drinks, sushi, apps, korean bbq? How can you go wrong... My husband and I typically order a bunch of rolls but I wasn't really in the mood for rice so I got sashimi. They have an 8-piece plate (pictured) and everything was delicious, especially the salmon! Crab rangoons are also a must. When I did opt for the rolls, my favorite would be a tie between the crunchy spicy salmon and the tampa roll. Servers were very attentive /friendly and our food came out fairly quick. There should be an option for less than one star. The owner should NOT be in business. He is extremely rude and unprofessional, choosing to drink on the job and treat his employees as if they do not hold any significance. He recently chose to "let go" of an employee because he was sick, even after having gone to the Urgent Care and getting a professional-sick note he was fired. The atmosphere is misleading. Behind the "5-star food" and "pleasant atmosphere" there are not sufficient quantity of sushi chefs and instead of hiring more people (like any sane and professional owner would) he chose to put the responsibilities of those jobs on a singular worker. When that worker and his girlfriend became sick and his health came into question, the owner assured him he could take off time to feel better. The following day, the worker was fired UNFAIRLY. We ordered- crispy Brussels sprouts, seaweed salad, wonton soup, 10 piece sushi platter, tempura combo, ramen noodle soup, rainbow roll, gyoza, vegetable fried rice and chicken Katsura. All was good and ready when we arrived. 20 min from order to pick up - awesome. The Brussels sprouts were really good - tempura battered whole sprouts. They didn't come with a dipping sauce. A little tentsuyu would have been nice. The mix of sushi in the platter was good. I was surprised by the smokiness of a piece of salmon. The rest was a typical spread of salmon, yellowtail, eel, shrimp, Krab , etc. Fresh and tasty. Ramen - good but the egg was overcooked. The overcooking may have occurred on the ride home. Chicken Katsu - it was a bit dry and overcooked. Tasty breading, but a bit too long in the fryer. Seaweed salad - spot on delicious. All else - excellent. Overall - we will return and look forward to having dinner in the restaurant. Welcome to the neighborhood. I recommend you give them a try. P.S. they through in a freebie present of Rangoon. I got food here from UberEats so I didn't get the full experience, but I have to admit- it was disappointing. Prices were reasonable and portion sizes were good. But my yakisoba was inedibly spicy- I'm a fan of sriracha, but this was overkill. I expected the chicken to be mixed in, but instead it was a sliced chicken breast on top- very thin and very dry. The shrimp tempura roll was all right- the rice was gummy, but shrimp were very good and the avocado was fresh. This place is so underrated! I can't believe how many people don't know about this place or miss this driving down the street. This place has an awesome spicy beef noodle soup and stir fry noodles! The beef is well very seasoned and cooked. Very tender. The fried rice is also very yummy as well! The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. Just slapped on the grill, cooked, sliced into strips (which I had to cut into smaller pieces). The food lacks any authenticity to mandarin cuisine. Ramen noodles from a pack at the grocery store has more seasonings than this mess. I called and spoke to a host who was rude. She lied to me and told me the manager wasn't there. I decided to try this new place for my birthday lunch. Their website ordering is a little clunky and limiting, so I called to order. The lady was friendly and patient. She took my order and let me know it would be ready in 15 minutes. It took me 5 minutes to get there and 3 to park. I walked in and the hostess greeted me by name (bonus) and bagged my meals. The receipt is unique in how it presented tip options. I liked it. I got my food home and was happy to find out the lunch bento boxes have Cali rolls as a standard side. My wife and daughter aren't into sushi, so I got more for me. My wife was impressed by the freshness of the salad and really liked the tofu. The maki was good too.
