Great service, great atmosphere, great cocktails, and great food. Enjoyed a nice evening at an outside table. Our server Vikki was great. I started out with a 22-43 cocktail which I had never heard of before but I was very intrigued by it being a fan of whiskey. A blend of Woodford Reserve, Brazilian Banana Liqueur, Demerara, and bitters. It was delicious! I was a little nervous about the whiskey and banana flavors together but it's a great combination. We also ordered the seaweed salad (also a first for me) and the Spicy Pork and Spicy Shrimp Dumplings. They were great although I'm not sure I would consider them to be spicy. I went with the drunken noodle with steak and asked for it to be spicy. I then asked if it was Thai spicy and Nikki asked if I was sure I could handle it. I was sure. That too didn't really seem spicy to me but it was still great. I'll definitely be back here to try some of the other dishes.

I love the fact that they are open until 11 PM on the weekends. It is a nice clean restaurant with friendly and knowledgeable staff. I love the food menu and the selection. For the appetizer we ordered bang bang shrimp and dumplings. They both were delicious. For my entrée, I ordered the snapper roll and I don't remember what my date got but he enjoyed it. Will definitely be back.

Hard to believe I have never been to this spot in downtown St. Pete. You almost have to know it is there as it is not readily apparent from the street as to the sort of place that it is. Definitely will be going back though! Atmosphere is very cool. We sat at the bar but there are plenty of table options. Went on a Sunday afternoon so wasn't overly crowded. Service at the bar was very attentive and friendly. We did appetizers and sushi rolls and both were phenomenal. Prices are very reasonable for the portions and quality. Will definitely be going back!

Mangosteen is one of those sleek, modern spots that seems to pop up every time a dive bar or punk venue vanishes - so if you're nostalgic for the grit of old downtown, this place might sting a little. That said, the food almost makes up for the gentrification vibes. The Goat Cheese Pear Salad was a total win. Creamy, tangy, sweet - everything balanced. Plus, the portion was surprisingly generous, which was a nice surprise for a place that looks like it could charge extra for breathing. Tried the Philly Roll too - solid, fresh, nothing mind-blowing, but it scratched the sushi itch. Drunken Noodles with steak had great flavor - savory, spicy, with that rich wok-charred depth - but the steak itself was tough and a bit chewy. I'll probably go with chicken or shrimp next time. Also...can we talk about the silverware? For a place that clearly isn't shy about their prices, the forks and knives feel like they came from a dorm kitchen starter pack. Upgrade, please. Worth a stop if you're hungry and in the area, but don't come looking for soul--it got priced out.

Literally, hands down the best Pad Thai (this is a Laotian restaurant so it's called Pad Lao on the menu) in the area!! Def you can taste the wok flavor in this!!! The Volcano sushi is out of this world. My friend recommended this place & she was spot on! And let me tell ya... this is da place!!! Their Thai iced tea is very delicious. I always get Thai iced tea with no cream anywhere I go. It was a 10 out of 10 bold strong flavor. Next time I wanna try their other noodle dishes I'm obsessed with the flavor at this place. It is a tangy tamarind taste, and not the more sweet taste, and I love the tangy places only.

Had a fantastic meal here. Sat at the bar. Service was spot on perfect. I would suggest a reservation because they do attract a crowd. Have been back twice now.

Visited Mangosteen on a Friday night with a girlfriend and it was a vibe! Our server was super friendly and gave us recommendations when we couldn't decide between a few options. We got the Mangosteen roll to share. It was alright, but I've definitely had better sushi. We also ordered the duck dumplings and while they were delicious, we were a little disappointed because we assumed they would be steamed. The entrees and drinks are where this place really shined! We got the Dragonball Z and the Happy Ending and they were both delicious! I would come back just for those alone. For Entrees, I got the crispy duck and my friend got the Mangosteen noodles, but were awesome choices. Next time, I would try the crispy duck with curry instead of basil.

Mangosteen was a wonderful experience! The food was amazing and our waitress was so kind and helpful. The food was amazing and the presentation matched. I will be coming back again because there were so many items I still need to try.

Saint Petersburg keeps delivering on great food places. We tried Mangosteen at lunch and had a really good experience. The restaurant is very clean and contemporary. The server could not have been friendlier. I ordered the Drunken Noodle Bowl. It arrived and probably could have fed 2 people, although I ate it all. It is made of chicken, basil, onions, cilantro, a coconut curry, pepper, sticky wide rice noodles, & an egg. The dish was flavorful. My only criticism, & it's a slight criticism, is that the chicken was really rubbery. Other than that, it was a great experience.

However, this time and the time past we were disappointed. I am a pescatarian and my daughter is a vegetarian, husband eats everything. They have removed so many GREAT items from the menu. The vegetarian section is literally stuff we make at home and we travel to eat here for the foods that are difficult or timely to make at home. Tom Yum (literally was the best EVER), baby bok choy, along with several other dishes are gone. I was left with eating Roti (great but fattening) and edamame. Again, I can make this at home. Worth a mention. We sat down and it took our server 20 minutes to greet us. We asked what was on draft, it says on the menu to ask, she handed us the menu (that we have already looked at for 20 minutes) and walked away. She complained that she had a huge table and was busy. No offense but...So...then ask someone else to handle our table. Not trying to be rude but we drove 1 hour and 45 minutes to specifically eat at this restaurant and you want to complain. So we waited ANOTHER 10 minutes and thank goodness the bar opened up with 3 seats. We moved after 30 min of waiting just for her to just take our drink order. Fortunately, the bartender was on point. She served our drinks and took our order. She is the reason for at least 3 stars. Not very happy about our last visit and friends have told us there are other places around there that the servers & menu will serve our needs better than our last experience. We never go to a restaurant and our bill is under $150. We work 6-7 days a week and are stressed just like many others. We just want good food, COLD drinks and friendly service.

We arrived around 10:15 p.m. on a Friday night, with the restaurant closing at 11:00 p.m. Maybe that contributed to our experience, although several other parties were seated after us, so we weren't the last customers of the evening. We ordered quickly since we already knew what we wanted. My partner ordered the special, I ordered the ramen, and we shared the fried shrimp dumplings as an appetizer. Our server was friendly and attentive, though it was clear the staff was beginning to transition into closing mode. Unfortunately, that affected the atmosphere. While we were still eating, employees were spraying tables and mopping nearby. The smell of cleaning chemicals mixed with our food, which made the dining experience less enjoyable. When my ramen arrived, it looked more like a wonton soup or pho than the ramen I was expecting. I didn't question it because I assumed it might be their interpretation of the dish. However, the broth was quite bland, and the vegetables were still somewhat undercooked. The chicken had no seasoning, it tasted like it was boiled within the broth. After a few bites and sips, I decided not to finish it. My partner seemed to enjoy his meal, though he tends to be pretty easygoing when it comes to food. I didn't try his dish since it was very spicy and that's not really my thing. The restaurant is in a great location on Central Avenue, which makes it a fun area to walk around and people-watch. However, with most dishes priced around $20, I expected a better overall experience and higher quality food. Unfortunately, this isn't a place I would return to.

The appetizer was disappointing. The naan bread was more like dry store bought pita bread. The mole curry, similar to what they add to the other dishes we tried. It didn't really saturate the dry pits bread well and even though trying to enjoy it, a large bowl of liquid remained. After a bit it felt a bit mundane, which is kind of crazy to say for two powerhouses: mole and Penang curry. I tried the mole Penang curry and pad Thai. The flavors surprisingly work, and I have to say it's a first for me in terms of combo, but it felt like the refinement of both cuisines were bolted on without much finesse. The sever was friendly, but the food took forever to come out. It also took us a little longer to get seated (no resy). Minus two stars really for the fusion that is missing just a little refinement and the slowness of kitchen. The appetizer that we got needs to be upgraded, really no excuse for what it sounded liken vs what came out. On the positive side, they had a small free parking lot. I enjoyed two different herbal ice teas and they had a nice decor. I'd go again on an invite, but not sure I'd re initiate one here. It's unique for sure, but it was definitely missing something.

Even the cart on the street could do better work than a fancy one. So, walking into PIN Wok & Bowl I thought it would be worth the try. It could not be a bad choice. And it was not. It was authentic in many ways. Walking in we sat down and the gentleman came over with the menu and water. We took a lok and could not decide. It all sounded great. We knew we needed to have some dumplings to start. After that it was a touch choice. I was not decided so I asked what he would recommend if he had to decide. He told me he would get the RAINBOW BOWL. That was one of my choices. Placing the order we waited. And not for long. Out came the STEAMED PORK DUMPLING. It was well packed and had the correct dipping sauce. With my sticks in hand I picked one up, gave it a dip and tried. It was ideal. Think and rich. Well seasoned. Slightly warm and moist. It was perfect and just enough to give you a taste of what is ahead. And that did not take long. Up next we had the order. First was the RAINBOW POKE BOWL. This was a combination of tuna, salmon, cucumber slices, shredded carrot and red cabbage, a good portion of edamame, flakes of scallion, tobiko with kinchi sauce and a touch of sesame seed spicy mayo. It was wonderful. We also had Unagi Bowl, which is not easy to find. This was combination of BBQ eel, tamago, crab, shredded red cabbage, edamame, masago, with eel sauce sesame seed and scallion. Very traditional. And, as with the Rainbow bowl, the fish was very fresh. There was no problem eating it. It was a great meal, and at a great price. The team were perfect. And it does get a crowd of local people. Just as you would find if you were in. Thailand, Vietnam or in Japan. That is what is special. It is a combination itself with the food from the region which was always a mix of various meals that are combined and seasoned as one. It was like being living back in that area of the world. I already have an idea of what I will get next time I go. And, if I didn't I would just as one of the people there. They would recommend what they might order for themselves that day.
