Good, but kind of a mixed bag based on what you get. We had a reservation, so it was super quick to get seated. If you come with a larger group -- they'll seat you with a kitchen-facing table (super cool to see the chefs in the back), but it's also really close to the bathrooms (covered with some fake greenery); so it's kind of a 50/50 mix on atmosphere for the table with half getting a cool view, and half getting a not-so-cool view. The food was ok, but some of the dishes were a bit inconsistent. We ordered the Red Snapper with Curry and the Miso Salmon. The Red Snapper was delicious; we loved the curry sauce and the snapper was cooked perfectly. However, the Miso Salmon was both dry (overdone salmon) and soggy (oversoaked rice), and tasted super salty. I didn't really like the presentation of having the soup and rice in the same platter; and think it actually made the dish worse than if the soup had just been served on the side. Service was fine. They were friendly, but didn't check on us often enough, and we had to wave our server for refills. Overall, I think it was a fine experience and would be a nice place to grab a bite if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. read more

Great service, great atmosphere, great cocktails, and great food. Enjoyed a nice evening at an outside table. Our server Vikki was great. I started out with a 22-43 cocktail which I had never heard of before but I was very intrigued by it being a fan of whiskey. A blend of Woodford Reserve, Brazilian Banana Liqueur, Demerara, and bitters. It was delicious! I was a little nervous about the whiskey and banana flavors together but it's a great combination. We also ordered the seaweed salad (also a first for me) and the Spicy Pork and Spicy Shrimp Dumplings. They were great although I'm not sure I would consider them to be spicy. I went with the drunken noodle with steak and asked for it to be spicy. I then asked if it was Thai spicy and Nikki asked if I was sure I could handle it. I was sure. Hard to believe I have never been to this spot in downtown St. Pete. You almost have to know it is there as it is not readily apparent from the street as to the sort of place that it is. Last Sunday evening, I drove nearly an hour from North Tampa to celebrate a friend's birthday at Mangosteen because I had heard such good things about the restaurant. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing from beginning to end. My friend and I both ordered the Mangosteen noodles, and they were honestly some of the worst noodles I've ever had. They were overcooked, mushy, and clumped together into one sticky mass. The service was just as disappointing. We waited for long periods without anyone checking on our table. Our dirty plates sat on the table for a very long time, and eventually I gathered them myself and handed them to a staff member because no one came to clear them. Since we were celebrating my friend's birthday, I wanted to order a dessert. Instead of simply taking the order, the server immediately focused on asking whether I was okay with the price, which felt unnecessary and awkward. At the end of the meal, we asked for the birthday guest's meal to be split among the rest of us. Unfortunately, that request was ignored, and the entire amount was added to my bill instead. The next day I called the restaurant to share my concerns. No one followed up with me as promised. On top of that, I noticed two separate charges on my credit card, so I called again and spoke with a manager. The response I received was extremely dismissive. I was simply told there was nothing they could do. I work in the hospitality industry myself, so I understand that mistakes can happen. However, what truly disappointed me was not just the food or the service it was the complete lack of concern for a guest's experience. Literally, hands down the best Pad Thai (this is a Laotian restaurant so it's called Pad Lao on the menu) in the area!! Def you can taste the wok flavor in this!!! The Volcano sushi is out of this world. My friend recommended this place & she was spot on! And let me tell ya... this is da place!!! Their Thai iced tea is very delicious. I always get Thai iced tea with no cream anywhere I go. It was a 10 out of 10 bold strong flavor. Next time I wanna try their other noodle dishes I'm obsessed with the flavor at this place. A solid C grade restaurant. The hostesses seems shocked and confused when I showed up for my reservation. It took 15 minutes for my order to get taken. I think they waited on 3 parties who came after me and bussed every table in the place before even asking if I wanted something to drink. The food is just okay. It's not fresh. The cucumbers in the cucumber salad were mushy and there was too much sugar in it. It was obvious this was made a day or two ago. The rice on the sushi was also clearly a day or two old...akin to grocery store sushi. The dumplings were good. Those I would recommend. I would review the Thai Iced Tea, but I never got it. If you're in the mood for Asian fusion, this should be at the top of your list in St Pete. But, first, I have one critique. Im sure this is a grumpy man critique: The bibimbap is NOT in a clay pot. So the rice doesn't get that extra layer of crispiness. Which is okay because the service, ambiance, and flavor, IS ON POINT. As is often the case with stellar menus, I couldn't decide on just one thing. So I started with a snapper roll of sushi. Fresh, flavor popping, no need to wasabi it up. (But seriously, who passes up the delightful green mush?!) I moved on to the bibimbap. It had plenty of gochujang in the mix and plenty of tasty veggies along with the marinated steak. Delicious. Perfectly plated egg at my favorite level cooked (just a slow ooze of yolk) . I also had a glass of wine. Simple wine list but a nicely balanced wine. This is my new go to lunch spot! In the heart of Downtown St.Pete sits a lowkey Asia fusion restaurant with some pretty iconic dishes. Delaney was our server and she was the best! She knew we were in a rush since we were on lunch but made sure to get all our food out quickly so we had plenty of time to enjoy it. Our go to items are the Drunken Noodles which reminds me of their take on pad Thai and the Crunchy Roll which has a mixture of flavors in it. THey have plenty of indoor seating, and outdoor as well but I have never sat outside. I went here for a friends birthday recently and they brought out a birthday dessert for him without anyone even asking, so sweet!! Their service is always amazing, quick, and attentive.
