Every dish was like home: pure comfort. The tom kha with chicken was 11/10, nothing short of extraordinary: silky coconut broth layered with lemongrass, sweetness, and savory depth. The oxtail pho was a showstopper: two generous bones, tender flank steak, and rice noodles, accompanied by a spice rack and all the right garnishes. My server's excitement told me I'd chosen well. The crispy duck impressed with its thick, golden crust and tender meat, paired with jasmine rice and steamed vegetables. Even the wings--simple and crisp--spoke to care in the kitchen. Billed as Thai fusion, I wasn't expecting authentic Thai. I saw from online reviews that they could make some dishes vegan, so I decided to try them out for lunch. I ordered their veggie salad rolls ($7) to start and their pad lad na with tofu ($15) without fish sauce for may main, ordered "hot" in spiciness. The salad rolls came out in about 5 minutes. These were pretty bare bones, with ice berg lettuce, julienned carrot and cucumber, vermicelli, and served with a sweet peanut sauce for dipping. Serviceable but nothing special. The lad na came out shortly after and that was sure nice. The portion was massive, coming with wide rice noodles, carrots, cabbage, broccoli and deep fried tofu, covered in a sweet yellow bean gravy. It was amply spicy but a bit too sweet for the style -- this is supposed to be a more savoury, gentler gravy. Still, the flavours were rich and very nicely balanced despite being a bit sweeter than standard. Very friendly service. Very good food and value. What a fantastic little restaurant. This isn't my first experience at Sab. So let me paint you a little picture ... Imagine the cutest little outside restaurant in the middle of a downtown city. You'd expect high prices, snooty service, and probably good food. Well, you only get the most important feature on that list... And that's great food! Surprisingly, you also get super sweet service and generally pretty reasonable prices. So I ordered hot jasmine tea. For three dollars you get a large pot of steaming hot tea. For five dollars you get two freshly made and delicious eggrolls. For a relatively inexpensive price you get a masterfully seasoned portion of dinner. I ordered the pork pad-thai. An advantage of this restaurant is you can get your pad-thai however you like it. They adjust the spice and they also adjust the protein. Most come with chicken. I think chicken is boring -- I want pork. Guess what... They make pork. Delicious. My total bill with drink, appetizer, and a dinner big enough to feed two people (Note: The couple next to me shared one entrée) was $24. That's amazing. So... Five out of five. The mussels were good with rice. The soup is not really Tom yum but more a flavored chicken and chopped green peppers, mushrooms, and onions. Their servers were very attentive and quick, even though there were multiple customers already seated the night we went. They were accommodating and turned/moved heaters when we were getting cold. The Pho was good and their serving sizes were generous for the price. We also had tempura, which also came in a big dish for an appetizer, though the batter was a lot and filled me up. I came here for lunch on a weekday afternoon. I chose to sit inside because it was somewhat of a cold day in Saint Pete. I do have to admit it was just as cold inside as it was outside. Maybe I should've worn warmer clothes that day. The waitstaff was incredibly kind. while I could not completely see the kitchen, I could tell that it was hidden behind a wall directly behind me. I love being able to hear the sound of food being made. Since I was so cold, I ordered a Tom Kha soup to warm me up. One thing I've noticed in the many Thai restaurants I've gone to. There will be two different styles in which they cut the onions for the soup some restaurant sliced them, thin and other restaurants, cube bigger pieces of onion. This restaurant uses the cubing technique, which is my least favorite. It feels like you get too much onion. It just depends on what you like. It was my first time trying the pad woon sen. I had seen it online and thought it looked interesting. With all my noodle dishes I always get the spice rack on the side so that I can add as much heat to each bite as I'd like. I really enjoyed the glass noodles on those dish they were super delicious, but even when I would add spice to the dish, I felt like the sauce on the noodles wasn't super flavorful. It would be interesting to see how this dish tastes at other restaurants. Overall, I think that this is a great lunch spot if you're in downtown and looking for Thai food. I ordered delivery from this place with Bite Squad for lunch. The pros are that the prices were relatively cheap and the driver came fast. Another plus is that the food was still hot when it arrived!! The cons are the pho was not authentic at all. Real pho broth takes hours and hours to brew and I can tell this broth is fake pho broth. They probably used a pre-made soup base or mix. It wasn't good at all. It also had big chucks of garlic in the broth which I have never seen in pho before. The garlic flavor was overpowering. I got flank steak with my pho, thinking it would be small, thin slices of meat that was rare but instead it came in thick, overcooked chunks of steak. Again, not what you would get at an authentic place. Also, the small amount of noodles I got with my broth was disappointing. Next time, I will spend the extra couple of dollars and go to La V. read more

I ordered many items. The spring rolls (rice paper with chicken and vegetables) were dry and flavorless. I had to put a lot of sauce on it to give it any flavor. The steamed wontons as you can see in the photo were very sad. Dried vs. soft and fluffy. The pork fried rice lacked flavor. Panang chicken curry was very good however it didn't have enough rice to go with it and it's consistency is more of a soup. My past Thai experiences have been absolutely amazing where the food is so flavorful and delicious you don't need to add soy sauce, teriyaki sauce or anything to it to give it flavor. I've only had the Pho here, and it's pretty "OK". The broth is extremely garlic-tasting, So if you like garlic, you may like there Pho. No indoor dining, so if it's hot outside, you need to expect to sit outside in the heat, but most of the spots are covered. They are currently closed on Mondays. In a dish like Bun, every ingredient should shine and contribute to the dish. In today's case, the pork was completely flavorless. Most restaurants grill the pork to add some delicious flavor. At Sab Café, it seems they steam the pork slices which are very bland and actually detract from the overall flavor of the dish. this was my first time here and I definitely will not be ordering the pork with anything again. I will give this place one more try and add a different protein like chicken or tofu and we'll see how they do.
