This review is for the takeout kits, but I am confident that dining there would be even better. My girlfriend's brother and his family lived up in Sudbury for a little while and he talked this place up incessantly. We were on the verge of getting in the car and driving up there just for the ramen (but even more so to see our nephews)! Then the world turned upside down, they moved back to NJ, and we missed our chance to enjoy this ballyhooed ramen, or so we thought. Fast forward to yesterday, and her brother was headed up to MA for some dental work. He mentioned the takeout kits from Doragon and we were sold! We got the black miso beef ramen and the Doragon, level 1. The black miso was so unctuous, the beef (short rib) so tender, the veggies so fresh, it was some of the best ramen we've ever had. And then came the Doragon. The pork was spoon tender, the aroma so mouthwatering, and then we dug in. The noodles had the perfect bite to them and the broth - OMG that broth - was so addictively spicy (even at level 1), we couldn't stop eating it. Now here we are with no particular reason to go to Sudbury, and we're considering a drive up there just for more ramen - it's that good. If you're reading this review, you're probably closer to Doragon than we are, so be grateful to be near such a delectable dining option. Went to Noodle City for dinner tonight and was not disappointed! First, we ordered the crispy fried spring rolls and the chicken 3 ways. All 3 types of chicken wings were delicious and they were nice and crispy, I will say for the price the wings are kinda small. For our main meals we got Ba Mee Moo Daeng, Kuaitia Gai, and the Duck Noodle Soup. All 3 soups were delicious and came out piping hot. They give you a great portion size! Lots of noodles! The price is comparable to the prices of good ramen in Boston and New York City so I think it's reasonable. I can't wait to go back and try some of the rice dishes and the boba! read more

Who those ppl that read this well know the min drive time of 1hr just to get into Boston for Ramen ( parking time not included). High quality ramen broth ( no short cut 14hr simmer)and ingredients. The staff friendly, clean and neat open kitchen. I got the Tonkotsu (Xtra Rich pork broth) very savory . The more I had more more I liked it. We went Friday night, had a table outside. Everything was impeccable: the service was gracious and prompt and the food was outrageously good. We started off with the 9 piece wing sampler and chose the Korean black garlic, blood red orange and Hoisin sauce, and Hellfire sauces/rubs. One companion had crispy rolls and Gyoza dumplings with pork. Another companion had the Doragon Hellfire Ramen with shrimp tempura. It comes in three levels of spiciness. He chose level 2, being cocky and thinking he could handle the spice, but he couldn't...(don't worry, it turns out fine). I got the Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen with braised beef shortrib. Everything in the ramen was perfectly prepared, from the tender short rib to the ajitama (hard-boiled egg) to the pork-based broth to the noodles. We also got an hibiscus iced tea and a Matcha iced tea with coconut milk. Our server was solicitous and good-humored. He took appropriate precautions. At the end of our meal, Chef Paponake MacIntosh checked in with us, which was lovely. We told him briefly about the Hellfire soup overreach and he told us that the broth is made with ghost peppers! And he said he always recommends that people start with level 1. He sent us home with a pint of broth to balance out the Hellfire ramen, and my companion told me the next day he mixed it together and it was delicious. The chef was so charming, informed, and hospitable. The parking lot to the restaurant was packed with people awaiting take-out orders. It is no wonder it's so popular. Very good ramen, but the service quality is not consistent. Luck of the draw, if you will. I came here for the first time pre-pandemic, and our waitress was very unfriendly, like she didn't want to serve us from the moment we sat. We felt the unfriendly vibe and requested someone else, and the other waitress was thankfully friendly. Most recently this summer, I placed an order for curbside pickup over the phone on a weekday afternoon. When I get there, they tell me curbside is not available and ask me to come in. I come in, and am told they forgot part of my 2-item order (a thai tea). As the person begins to make my 16-ounce thai tea in front of me, he pours about one tablespoon of half and a half before the carton runs out. Instead of opening a new one, he just finishes the drink the way it is. I think to myself, "how cheap, especially with the inconveniences so far," and then I proceed to kindly request more half and a half to which he agrees. I calmly express my frustration with the whole experience and nothing is done to amend it other than a short, perfunctory "sorry." I leave. So while I recommend the ramen, I cannot recommend the customer service because you never know what you're gonna get. read more

Before Doragon Ramen, I had been going to noodle city rather often. The food was top notch. Definitely a high attention to detail and stellar quality. I knew the co-owners by name too! I'm not sure if the change in company name reflected a change in management. The quality of food remains unchanged but the service has. I didn't see the co-owners present but it seemed the hostess was also the waitress and manager. She had some rough mannerisms in terms of handling myself and other customers. I was offered a seat at the counter next to someone else. I asked to sit in the middle instead, to give everyone elbow space. But she replied in a rather harsh tone "that's for two people" but two never came. No biggie. I order and the food is delicious (see photo) Then I hear a customer to my right getting an earful for asking for chili oil after ordering. The staff member said "oh so you forgot to order it" and he admitted fault. Then she yelled into the kitchen "(table number) he forgot to order this" as if to rub it in. Rather petty. Someone walked in to order take out and she also got an earful about the menu options. It sounded harsh. In my experience, stellar food could be eclipsed by unpleasant service. On the contrary, lackluster food but considerate servers can make a meal that much better. Advice to management is re-evaluate the older waitress and train for customer service. Japanese style has soy sauce. Wings are hot & crispy. Just the way wings should be. This was my 3rd time eating here and I've tried different ramen. Besides dragon, had tonkatsu, beef, miso, duck ramen bowls. (I sample some from my family's orders.) I don't have a favorite but my least favorite is the beef. I've only gone at dinner time, 6-8pm and that's when they're busiest. Even on different days of the week, weekday and weekend. The owner even said so. Takeout is also busy. I've ordered food from here three times - fantastic ramen. The Doragon (hellfire) ramen is easily a favorite, usually with the beef short rib. Fair warning - it's aptly named. TanTan broth is a great option as well for those that want something less spicy (but still a bit of a kick). Definitely add an egg! Wings are great as well. I feel most places overcook (and dry out) their wings, and rely on a heavy-dose of sauce. Not here. Dry rubs were a great choice because the chicken is cooked properly, so they hold their own. Counter to other's feedback, I've also felt their service to be totally fine. They warn you when you order online about long waits, orders often taking an hour or more. Such a great find! We went on a weeknight and was lucky to grab the last 4 seater outside. They only have outdoor dining (and takeout) with just 4-5 tables, and one server. Their menu is extensive so there is lots to choose from. We look forward to going back and trying more things on their menu. I called couple of times and the person on the phone did not seem interested in taking the order or talking then he told me it is just him and chef. I felt bad for his situaion and chose not to order over phone as I felt they are struggling.Then I moved onto online order and got the message "Only scheduled order". I have tried to order from this place multiple times now but the same case happends. The food pictures look very tempting but if they are not even able to take an order not sure how customers will be able to taste it. The food is always incredible. I'm absolutely in love with the khao soi noodles - so much flavor and presented beautifully. The service is always so friendly and considerate. This place was a nightmare. Tried to call in our order but no one answered the phone! I went there and ordered and they said it would be 20 minutes. After 25 minutes I asked where my Oder was and the hostess said the kitchen was having "issues". Another 30 minutes goes by and my Oder was finally ready! Very fun and innovative local ramen spot! I was happy to discover that this spot existed in Ashland; there aren't a lot of ramen places in this area that I know of! We didn't make a reservation, but we were lucky and able to get a seat outdoors for lunch on a Friday. We ordered three appetizers: Crispy Rolls, Takoyaki, and Crispy Tofu. For noodles, we had to try the Doragon "Hellfire" Ramen. The food was all good and the presentation was spot-on for those IG photos ;) Let me warn you on the ramen though, holy sh*t you better have a good spice tolerance. They have three different levels, and we got the level two thinking that it couldn't be TOO bad - we were so wrong. It was unlike any ramen I've ever had, and I think I only ended up eating 3 or 4 bites. I wouldn't say I have a good spice tolerance usually, but I do think it's still higher than average. Since I live in the area, I definitely see myself coming back for the level one or to try a different ramen. Keep in mind that the noodles aren't the traditional ramen noodle type, at least for the Doragon Ramen, they're wide-cut noodles and chewy. The service was excellent considering there was a constant line at the door of people waiting to be seated. We sat at the table closest to the door, which was a little drafty but not uncomfortable. When I decided to get creative and add extra black garlic oil to my tonkotsu ramen, the chef/(maybe owner?) came out to let me know he thought adding more would take away from the flavors, which was great (rather than giving me a bowl of garlic soup). We've gotten these ramen bowls before and they were delicious. We went to Doragon for dinner one evening and thought the place had some delicious ramen as well as some of the best chicken wings I've ever had. There were a lot of awards for chicken wings in the entry area so we decided to try them as appetizers as well as gyoza. The gyoza were good but nothing spectacular but the wings were amazing! We decided to try the teriyaki flavor although I look forward to trying some of the other ones in the future. The wings were well cooked had a perfect breading that was crispy and not too thick. They didn't douse the chicken wings in teriyaki sauce which probably kept them from getting soggy but was enough to provide a hint of sweetness. I also appreciated that they have boneless wing options on the menu. As for ramen, they have many varieties including vegetarian/chicken/pork broth options so you can really customize to what you like to eat. We ordered the chicken ramen and the hellfire ramen. The hellfire is definitely spicy and we only got level 1. I think the waiter said the level 2 is made of ghost peppers so I can only imagine how spicy that could be. Although the hellfire is as advertised, I think the ramen here is good enough that the spice overshadowed some of the underlying broth flavor. It is also important to mention the noodles in the hellfire ramen are described as "Kazeri style" and are of the thicker variety which I didn't realize. I personally prefer the thinner more standard ramen noodles. The chicken broth was delicious although after having the perfectly cooked chicken wings, I was a little disappointed by the chicken in the ramen. The soft boiled egg in the ramen was perfectly cooked in both dishes and I probably would order an extra next time. I also liked that you could really customize the ramen dishes with extras and they are also flexible with switching out meat options so you can really get a bowl full of what you truly enjoy. We went with friends who ordered the black garlic and tonkotsu ramen and both were happy with their dishes as well. One big surprise was that we asked for some soy sauce and they told us they didn't have any. The restaurant area is small with only 6 4-person tables and nothing fancy but I would definitely go back for the flavorful ramen and the area's best chicken wings. read more

I LOVED this restaurant when it opened great food, good value, service was consistently sub-par (ready estimates off by 30 mins or more, young employees and managers/owners who just don't care), but the food was SO great that I overlooked the dismal service. The last two times I ordered, prices were way up, which is fine for quality food. However, the food is no longer yummy. In fact quite the opposite. I could not eat my main dish. They swapped out the white meat chicken for a repugnant, fatty, gristle-heavy chunk of dark meat chicken. The noodles were extremely overcooked (this was the non-soup noodle dish).
