There are several of these in New England, and we were told they are independently owned. That makes sense as our experience in this venue was much better than our experience in Rhode Island. We were the first customers here as they just opened for lunch, and our service was excellent. We don't know if that's typical, but our waitress was very attentive and helpful. It was a cold day, so we passed on the sushi and selected: + Chicken Udon $15 + Chicken Fried Rice $15 + Gyoza $8 These were all excellent. The Gyoza was lightly fried, hot and tasty. We would be delighted to sample these again. The Chicken Udon included thick, chewy noodles, tender chicken, and a smattering of veggies, in a mild and tasty broth. It was a huge portion, and delicious. The Chicken Fried Rice was lightly fried with a delicious flavor, and tender chicken. This was also a large portion resulting in takeaways for both the Udon and Fried Rice. Even though we live in Southborough, we had not tried YamaFuji until very recently. Wish we had gotten here sooner. Have now been back three times and just one month! We've ordered the hibachi dinner, and sushi appetizers. Food is excellent, drinks are very good and the service is pleasant and quick. Prices are very reasonable. YamaFuji is a great local business. They are involved in and support the Southborough community. Their food is always fresh and of high standards. You won't find "what exact part of the chicken is this?" In your dish-just tender and VERY plentiful chicken breast. They definitely don't skip on the quality protein, so much so that I find I am looking for more rice in the Fried Rice because there is so much meat (definitely NOT a complaint!). The fried rice it top notch, very flavorful & fresh. My daughter loves the chicken fingers-crisp & full of meat rather than all batter. My husband has explored much of the menu and has been pleased with every dish. And the food is almost as good when taking out. Drinks are good too! We aren't sushi eaters but it looks amazing. COVID-19-they are only open for take out and you can call or place your order online at yamasouthborough.com. Masks are worn by staff & customers. Several bottles of hand sanitizer are available on the pick up table. My only concern is when picking up everyone clusters into the 4x6 vestibule (pickup table is across the inside doorway). When I picked up last night (nice weather in mid September) there were 3 people in that area waiting plus the employee. Only disappointed that ramen isn't an option anymore post Covid. Wish they would bring it back even if it is just seasonally when the weather turns cold. Very impressed! I eat sushi anywhere I can get it, specifically if they offer a maki roll lunch combo. You really cannot beat their cost, plus they give you miso AND salad with it! Got the 3 choice maki; eel cuke, philly, and spicy tuna. Rolls are a perfect size and awesome quality, especially for the price! Wanted this to work... lots of take out orders being picked up so we felt good. Started with Spicy Tuna Pizza - spicy tuna, avocado, & spicy sauce on a Japanese pancake. A delicious starter though not spicy at all. Still, very tasty and I would recommend. For dinner, ordered several chef's choice rolls: Sexy Girl & Dancing Tuna. Took longer than average for sushi even though not very crowded. When the food arrived we had to remind our waitress that we needed wasabi plates. The soy sauce bottle cap was not on properly and made a mess. Overall, the service was just average but good food can usually overcome poor service. While the Spicy Tuna Pizza was a nice start the rolls were a big disappointment. The Sexy Girl is supposed to have spicy white tuna but if it did, it was mashed up...and a total waste of white tuna. There was nothing special about the Dancing Tuna either. We typically start with 2 rolls & add on. After tasting these, we decided to call it a night. 2 stars because I don't like going out to eat and going home hungry. Maybe the hibachi side is better. read more

That makes a big difference in the dining experience. If I wanted to go to a place where people hate their jobs, I'd just hop over to the DMV and try and order a bagel. First of all, the sushi is delicious. We ordered an assortment of sushi and specialty rolls including a soy paper rainbow roll, sex girl roll, and volcano roll. More importantly, we are appreciative that Yama Fuji has stayed open during this tumultuous COVID crisis. The online ordering and contactless pickup worked great. My wife and I have made a tradition of doing Friday sushi nights and many of our favorite places have closed their doors (hopefully just temporarily). Yama Fuji is a little further away than some of these other places and we hadn't been there for a few years. Now, we will likely be back on a weekly basis. However, when he brought the order home, I discovered avocado in the veggie sushi (which is an ingredient that's an additional charge, for which we didn't request, and weren't charged for). Upon speaking with the manager, she didn't apologize or offer a solution. She simply asked if avocado was stated as an "allergy". If a customer clearly says they don't want this ingredient, that's unnecessary information. At this point, we're supposed to receive a credit for the veggie rolls. Went there for Sunday lunch today for the first time -EXCELLENT!!!! Set back in a nice strip mall in Southboro. The "Hulk" roll was excellent and the other roll we had superb!! Udon noodles both seafood and especially the beef were great too. I agree not too expensive by today's sushi prices (see Sudbury and downtown Boston). I can't think of a sushi place this good in Marlboro or even Hudson for that matter. Great service too. Place is brand new inside with big bar and Sports TV for watching Pats. There was no music playing in the background so it was very quiet and a little awakes for us to talk. We ordered the hibachi ... if you are going for hibachi to see the show DO NOT go here. The sushi rolls are very creative, and yummy, and the pad thai is great. The food here is more of an Asian "fusion" cuisine. It had Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese all in the same restaurant. I enjoyed this kind of variety, as my boyfriend likes Chinese more and I prefer Japanese. However, I would not recommend the sushi. Although it was a decent dish, not the best quality of sushi I'd ever had. It was mostly ground fish inside of a roll rather than whole pieces of fish atop a roll or rice. But even though it was still good in taste, I would not recommend as there are better sushi spots out there. The rest of the meals were incredible, I would definitely say that this place is great to go to if you are craving Chinese that doesn't come in a white paper box. Super yummy! Furthermore, I'd like to note that the service wasn't all that amazing. Our server was not attentive, did not refill drinks unless we flagged her down, and still did not check on us at all throughout the meal.
