Delicious vegan ramen, with less of a wait than I expected (maybe 20 minutes). The space was small (I wouldn't come with more than a group of 6, and even that would be pushing it), but the whole place smelled so good! The ordering experience was a little odd, but the food came out very quickly. I got the truffle ramen with the spicy broth, and it was very good (which was not really spicy, simply well seasoned), and quite filling. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well. One of us got the non-spicy broth, and she noted that she thought the spicy broth was better (and again, not truly spicy at all), so I'd just keep that in mind when ordering. I also got the truffle mac & cheese, which I was pleasantly surprised by! It was pretty good, and came with some sort of delectable crunchies on top which I was obsessed with. We also had to wait outside since there wasn't room inside the restaurant. Additionally, they have a policy where you must order 1 dish per person or they will not seat you. You order at the front and then are seated with a beeper to pick up your food. The menu is pretty limited, but the dishes was overall seasoned nicely. The Spicy Roasted Miso Avocado Sushi Roll was better than the roasted miso avocado sushi since the best part of the dish was the spicy crumble on top. However, the sushi was oddly sized (too big for one bite, but too small and fell apart for 2 bites). The ramen was also differently flavored. The garlic was too overpowering and the texture of the noodles to other vegetables in the dish was offputting to me. However, all the dishes were presented/plated well. Overall, I'd rate it around a 2.5-3. A piece of me wants to try a different ramen, but also not a place I would run to. Also, rounding up to 3 because of the whole menu being catered to vegan ramen! We tried Red White Boneless Ramen after seeing the long lines outside so often, and we were glad to walk right in and grab a seat around 6:30 on a Monday (there was a line by the time we left). The staff was friendly, and the restaurant had a busy, energetic feel. We ordered the mac and cheese, Japanese curry ramen, red hot miso ramen, and spicy roasted miso avocado rolls. We definitely ordered with our stomachs when it came to the mac and cheese, and while I appreciate the vegan concept, as someone who eats and loves cheese, it just wasn't my favorite. The ramen was good overall, and portions were generous, but I was surprised by how sweet both broths were. Even with chili oil, there was still a noticeable sweetness that wasn't quite what I was expecting from ramen. The spicy roasted miso avocado rolls were probably my least favorite after the mac and cheese. They were a bit mushy in texture and also had a sweet flavor. Yum!! As two non-pork eaters we were so curious to try out a ramen shop that specializes in non-pork ramen (rather than getting the veggie/chicken option at a pork broth speciality place). This place makes you forget you're not eating meat! Everything tastes so rich and delicious. We love getting the miso ramen. Service is a bit slow I'd say and seating is only inside so it's very minimal. On a Friday night it can get quite packed. They have little signs on the walls letting you know of the 45 mins limit to eat during busy times, which at first made me do a double-take but honestly, it works. You're in, you eat, you enjoy, you go. No hard feelings. You order up front, pay and they hand you one of those buzzer/light-up things. Ours went off pretty quickly. The staff is super friendly without giving you that "please leave" energy. Even when the place is packed, they're calm and they're friendly. I'll preface by saying we didn't realize it was a vegan restaurant beforehand, and if we had known, we probably wouldn't have stopped in -- but not knowing this fact we decided to give it a try anyway. We waited about 45 minutes outside before ordering. At REDWHITE, you order at the counter first and then grab a table once one opens up. Tables are limited to 45 minutes, which made sense because the turnover was constant -- as soon as one table cleared, someone who had just ordered took it. Even when we left, there was still a line. I ordered the No. 9 Truffle Salt, my boyfriend got the No. 5, and we shared the Roasted Miso Avocado roll. After ordering, we waited about another 10 minutes for our food. The bowls were very different from each other, with different broths and noodles, though both included tofu. I didn't mind it, but my boyfriend wasn't a fan. Overall, I did enjoy my ramen, though it's definitely an acquired taste. That said, I'm not sure I'd wait over an hour again for this dish alone, but it was still a fun experience. The cozy basement atmosphere was perfect for a cold night. I'm extremely disappointed in REDWHITE and would not recommend it to anyone. I came here with a coworker last year while in town for a conference and remembered really liking it, though I had forgotten that I needed to pour in quite a lot of red pepper flake packets to get my ramen spicy. I thought maybe it was an off day, or maybe I had just forgotten to order it spicy. This time, I rushed from the train station, excited to come back since I'm in town for a few days. The host was extremely rude and impatient while I was deciding what to order. I specifically asked for my ramen "spicy," and she assured me they could "make any ramen spicy." When my ramen came, there was no discernible spice whatsoever. I asked for extra spice, and they gave me la-yu (chili oil). I almost never use la-yu because it upsets my stomach and adds needless calories, but I went with it, trusting their judgment. It did absolutely nothing. I even tasted the la-yu directly, and it was somehow less spicy than the ramen itself. No spice whatsoever, truly. At that point, I added a hot sauce packet I had in my bag--still mild. I asked for red pepper flakes, and the server kept pointing at the menu saying it was $2, and that the first portion was free but after that I'd have to pay. I explained that I had ordered spicy, didn't get it, and the extra spice they gave me wasn't spicy either. He just repeated that I'd have to pay, even though the menu said nothing about this. Meanwhile, I still hadn't received what I ordered. By then I was furious, and my stomach hurt from the oil. I ended up dumping about 20 packets of black pepper from my backpack into the bowl (yes, really), and it was still barely spicy. I forced myself to finish what turned out to be disgustingly oily, bland ramen. I will never come back here and will no longer recommend it. The ambience of the place is dark and hip with low lights and just a few tables. Their set up is efficient - your order at the counter and you pick it up at same place when it's ready. It's a smaller restaurant and is mostly self serve: You order at the counter and carry the food to your table when it's done. I went for a late lunch, around 3:30pm, so it was pretty quiet. The service was quick and the person behind the counter offered me some recommendations when I asked. He was very helpful. The yuzu ramen tasted pretty citrus like. We paid extra for cheese and you only get a few sprinkles, not even a full slice. Can't even tell its there. Seating area is very small, about 12-15 tables total. The menu is pretty limited. There are appetizers available as well (like sushi). A water jug is available to customers, next to the register. There are no waiters. You order at the front desk and then try to get a table, as its first come first served. We had to wait several minutes for a table of 2. You'll have a buzzer with you. You go pick up your own food once it buzzes. You also have to clean up after yourself. Think of it like the Hmart food courts. As for decor, it looks very dark inside. The cashier was nice and friendly. Their bathroom is hard to get to and was extremely dirty. Given that this place is located on newbury st, I guess the price to portion size is to be expected. Great spot for hearty vegan ramen. I love the chewy noodles and the creamy thick broth. I usually come for the creamy broths as a warm, nourishing and satiating winter meal. Some people might think it's a bit heavy but that's what I come for. I willl say after trying all the broths that they aren't extremely different since they all use similar layers and just have varying spice levels. I'm not a fan of adding cheese but that's big here. I typically enjoy the truffle or classic with chili oil. Space is small but I usually have no issues bringing people. Overall one of the best spots in Boston for all vegan ramens. Other ramen shops might have 1-2 vegan ramens but you can rest assured this entire spot is vegan, even the cheese. So there isn't a concern of cross contamination or "accidents" - if you know what I mean. It also means you are also getting a flagship entree that's the start of the restaurant and not just a "compromise", which is another reason I love supporting this fully vegan spot. At one point they had the rice noodles as a great gluten free option but I don't think they have that anymore. It would be great if they had that again! They also released sushi rolls which were a bit dense and huge, but surprisingly the rice was cooked very well (which not all sushi spots can do) and the amount of avocado truffle miso is just right (whereas I usually order that avocado on the side and it can be a lot). I got the Yuzu with the smoke, which was very fun, but I didn't think it imparted any flavor -- if you have the patience to wait for 5-10 minutes maybe it would, but I did not. I thought the Yuzu itself was quite good. It's a very prominent flavor and cuts the richness of the broth really well. I was a little thrown off at first, but I think it actually got better and better over the course of the meal. The toppings themselves and noodles were great. I didn't like the Garlic Miso as much -- it was richer, very tasty, but without the bright flavor felt like a bit too much over time. The Mac & Truffle was mediocre, without a strong truffle flavor. The crispy stuff on top was also a bit stale. It wasn't bad, but not personally worth it. The place is small though, and close quarters, so keep that in mind. Large parties will be problematic. We had to wait almost an hour for a table since there's not lot of seating. All that said, both ramens were hands down the best vegetarian/vegan ramens I've ever had. If you're accustomed to Tonkatsu they might not be for you, but I recommend trying them out anyways! read more

Vegetarian and gluten free food is hard to find, so I can appreciate the effort. However, flavor and texture are still appreciated. We got both ramen and the "rolls". The "rolls" being in quotation marks because nothing was rolled: but instead was guacamole (unseasoned) over a bed of what could have been crispy rice. The rice however was a mushy gloopy mess, with an added burnt flavor from what I assume was a crème brûlée torch. On top of that it was smothered in crispy onions. I can appreciate crispy onions, but the ratio of "roll" to crispy onions was about 50:50. Leaving my tissues permeated with onion flavor. Furthermore, the ramen had the flavor of sesame seed soup. Not bad if you like the predominant flavor of tahini. However it was the equivalent texture of peanut butter mixed with water. The noodles (while helpful that they were rice) had a similar gloopy texture that had to be choked down. It was garnished with pubic hair appearing sprouts that added nothing but more soggy gloop to the gloop soup. Overall, 1/10. 1 point for effort read more

RedWhite boneless ramen.....Vegan ramen? What an interesting concept this is. I am nowhere close to a vegan, but what I am is an absolute ramen fiend. I don't discriminate. Im a simple man....I see ramen that looks appetizing, count me in. The images produced by the RedWhite team are irresistible, nothing short of a visual masterclass. Red hot miso: corn, crispy onion, arugula, alfalfa, soboro, and noodles. There is sooooo much going on here. Right off the bat I will say these are some fantastic noodles. Thick and perfectly chewy. Some of the best I've had in any bowl. The broth itself is rich and full of flavor. Although the ingredients work fine together, the bowl is simply too busy. So much so that the broth has the consistency of chunky salsa. It was difficult to even get to the noodles that I wanted so much to enjoy. This is unlike any consistency I've experienced and to be honest it's hard to get past. Mac and truffle: who doesn't love a homey Mac? Truffle is the ultimate cheat code, it makes everything better. I'm actually embarrassed to say how many truffle flavored things I have in my home. RedWhites version id imagine uses vegan cheese. Can you tell the difference? Hardly! This is honestly a nice creamy cheese substitute. A little on the sweet side, but there is a nice balance achieved by adding truffle. The only downside is the crispy onions. A great idea in theory to contrast textures, but my onions were on the stale side. Ramen remains one of my favorite foods on the planet! It's unfair that all people, regardless of dietary restrictions, should not enjoy such a wonderful dish. For sure this concept is a sorely needed. Although RedWhite has some really good things going for it, technically it falls short for me. Given the amount of positive reviews, clearly I am in the minority. Now this place was a nice find. I was looking for something different and unique. To my surprise I found it! It's a small comfy little restaurant. I ordered No 3. SIGNATURE Ramen Original Miso- Classic miso taste-soboro (vegan meat and tofu), corn, onion, arugula and garlic oil with added cheese Mac & Truffle And the Half 4 piece Spicy Roasted Miso Avocado Roll -Avocado,Pickled Relish , Crispy Onion, Sesame Seeds, Original Miso - Chili oil and powder The flavors were incredible! I'm so glad I chose the Signature Ramen as all the goodness was encapsulated in this dome. The Spicy Miso avocado roll was flavorful as well and the Mac and truffle was comforting. My sister highly recommended eating the ramen here on my short trip to Boston, so we tried it out, securing a table for 2 relatively immediately on a busy Sunday evening. You order at a counter then take a seat, and you'll be alerted by an electric gadget to grab your food at the counter when it's ready. The staff member at the counter was very friendly and knowledgeable about accommodating to dietary restrictions and allergies. Each of the ramens can be ordered Standard or Signature (additional $1 for a smoked ramen). We tried the standard ginger curry (somewhat spicy) and the yuzu sesame (option to add spice which was mildly spicy). I am amazed that everything is plant-based as some of the plant protein (yuba tofu skin) tasted very close to beef. I loved the yuzu sesame broth which was not too salty and had a bit of subtle tartness. Would definitely get it again! The curry broth meanwhile was very rich and flavorful with spice. Thoroughly impressed. A friend of mine was telling me about some ramen spot she saw on TikTok that we HAD to try out. I'm not vegan/vegetarian and the thought of no meat in my ramen was new to me and my experiences, but I was still down to go over and try it..and let me tell you... I'm SO glad I did. The rolls were also big and rich with seasoning, sauces, and a nice texture. The line stretched out into the streets of Newbury when we got there on a chilly day. I didn't mind since I was with great company. Wait time was approx. 25-35 minutes when I went on a Saturday evening. This place was PACKED to the literal BRIM so if you don't struggle with tight, crowded spaces, you should be good for dine-in. If not, takeout might be your best bet. Is it worth the hype? Amazing vegan and vegetarian Ramen options on Newbury street. We came here for lunch and this small restaurant was packed. You order at the front of the line and find a table for your party. The food comes out pretty quickly too! The Mac and cheese is no go for me it felt too heavy on the onion crisps and it was very alright. We got the truffle and though truffle is good this Mac and cheese felt very overpowering when paired with the Ramen. The ramen however was delicious. We got the original and the yuzu ramen and both were fantastic. The yuzu was more on the citrusy side but the broth was still so yummy.
