Very happy with our visit to Riceberry. We dined in on a Saturday night. Small dining area, cozy ambiance except that it was a little chilly inside. Service was attentive but not overbearing. For starters we ordered the crispy spring rolls and golden triangles (deep fried tofu). Both came with very yummy dipping sauces. For mains, we got the butternut squash curry with tofu and the ginger stir fry with chicken. The ginger stir fry had a nice assortment of veggies that tasted fresh but the sauce was just a little bland to my liking. The butternut squash curry was very good, no notes there. This is definitely a take out spot. There's indoor seating maybe like 4-5 tables but it's a weird vibe. The staff is nice but still a odd place to go out to and the waiter had the wrong drink order. I've been debating whether to write a review for Riceberry for a while now. Part of me wants to keep this gem to myself, but I also want to see them thrive and get the recognition they deserve. My wife and I are regulars when it comes to ordering delivery from Riceberry, and without a doubt, it's the best Thai food in the Marlborough area--honestly, probably the best in all of Boston. While we mostly do takeout, we've dined in a few times, and I have to say, the food tastes even better when you eat there. Our go-to order is the Crab Meat Fried Rice, Roti, and Crying Tiger (when we dine in). We've also tried their Crispy Wings and Thai Spicy Wings--just a heads up, the Thai Spicy Wings are hot, but they're packed with incredible flavor. While their curries are similar to what you'd find at other Thai places, the Crab Meat Fried Rice is truly a standout. It's one of the best I've had, and it's almost identical to what I've had in Thailand--though, to be honest, if they were to add the same amount of crab as you'd find in Thailand, we'd probably be looking at a $50 dish. All in all, my wife and I are frequent customers, and while we love trying new things, the Crab Meat Fried Rice, Roti, and Crying Tiger will always be our go-to order. We are fortunate to have two very good Thai restaurants in Sudbury. I give the edge to Riceberry because they have excellent dishes beyond the usual curries. Get take out weekly and never disappointed. Not a romantic ambience for dining in but it's cozy and you'll usually have it to yourself as you watch the crowds come in for takeout. This was my very first experience with Thai food and it was really very tasty!! Had the pork dumpling soup and the spring rolls. Nicely presented and very fresh. The heat wasn't working on the very cold day we came in but both the electric heaters and the hot soup had a warming up in no time. Wasn't busy. Service was quick and very efficient. It's been a while since I ordered from Riceberry so yesterday ordered take out, including my favorite dish, pineapple rice. It was terrible! Basically just brown rice, no veggies, no curry powder, no pineapple, basically none of the things that make it pineapple rice that I'm used to. Also ordered a tofu dish and it had so little tofu in it that it wasn't really even enough for two people! I don't know what's going on at Riceberry but sadly I don't think I'll be ordering from there again. read more

I found this little place while in Sudbury white there for a training! At first I wasn't sure what to think because the place is really small and it was empty when I walked in; however, I was politely greeted and offered a seat. The ambience was great! The lights were dim and soft music was playing in the background. I was given sufficient time to make my drink and food selection and was asked if I had any questions on the menu. I ordered a glass of wine and a hot chicken basil dish. The wait was not long and I can smell the spices immediately when the plate was placed in front of me. The server was very friendly and consistently yet appropriately asked if I needed anything during my meal. Quite honestly, I was surprised to were not more people there however I was there after the dinner rush, it was raining, and there was a football game going on that evening! If I ever make it back to Sudbury, I will definitely return to this little place and I wish it a lot of luck as new clients discover it! read more

Received a very large glass of white wine for $10. The food was excellent, very fresh. We had the Tom Yum soup with chicken - spicy, hot, and delicious. The crispy fried rolls, very crispy and fresh. The yellow curry with chicken - tasted great and the vegetables looked extremely fresh. The shrimp pad Thai - the shrimp was very fresh, as were the noodles and the dish was fantastic. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. We've been wanting to give this place a try after having walked by it a few times on the way to the Japanese restaurant next door, but I have to say we were very disappointed. Upon walking in, there is no deco, save for a couple of bead curtains that I could've sworn were there from the Indian restaurant it replaced. A big screen TV was playing instrumental Christmas music covers with an image of a snowy woods scene, which was appropriate considering it was cold enough we had to keep our jackets on. It would start to warm up a bit but then someone would open the door and somehow all of the heat would get sucked out again, in just a few seconds. It was quite a few minutes before a drink or food order was taken. The Tom Yum soup was sweet (it shouldn't be) and the flavor wasn't right. The dumplings had no flavor, and the sauce was just a sweet paste, also without spices. For the main dish, we ordered the "Triple Blizzard" main dish, which was described as being sauteed in a house special sauce, and had the highest spice level on the menu, 2 peppers, same as the wild boar basil... Well, in keeping with the dumplings, it had no spice at all! No flavor, no kick, nothing. Basically tasted like the meats and veggies were just cooked in their own juices with a hint of sweet and the tiniest bit of ginger, but even the ginger I'm not sure of. I guess I know where I'll be going to for Thai food next time: Anywhere else! If the restaurant reads this: buy a curtain for the door, some paintings for the walls, get better meat, stop skimping on spices, and leave the sugar behind. read more

Riceberry is a relatively new, but certainly welcome addition to the Sudbury restaurant scene. There are a couple of other Thai restaurants in the area but none that are great. I spoke with one of the Riceberry owners (both are Thai) and she is striving to find a balance between American Thai food and traditional Thai food, which sounds great to me. Tonight was my first visit to Riceberry and the food was hot and tasty (I had the tom yum soup and drunken noodles), the service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy (Riceberry is in the old Paani location). Went there for the first time today with some co-workers. It's in the space vacated by Paani, an indian restaurant that is relocating to the nearby Meadow Walk center. Same interior, small but nice. Got Dumplings for an App, a Pad Thai, Green Chicken Curry, and a Salmon/Noodles dish. All were very good, some portions larger than others though. Their vegetables are so fresh, the crispy Thai vegetable spring rolls UNREAL, the portions large, and wonderfully friendly service, even just for takeout. A solid place for Thai food, Riceberry has an extensive menu with options for everyone. We tried the Papaya Salad, Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and Mango Sticky Rice. All were meals that I would happily order again! The Papaya salad was an unexpected surprise. Two shrimp on a bed of spinach greens with lots of goodies, this salad is served cold and was perfect to split. I always judge new Thai restaurants by their Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles (for better or for worse) and both of these dishes were solid. The Drunken Noodles were a personal favorite of ours. To finish up, we had the Mango Sticky rice which comes with a generous helping of mango and some nicely flavored sticky rice. I ate it two days in a row and even on the second day, the rice wasn't soggy. Finally, Riceberry is allergy conscious, so I could easily find gluten free offerings throughout the menu. We ordered take out last night. When we picked up the food the restaurant was very small, unappealing, and empty so I imagine they do most of their business via take out. We ordered the chicken basil fried rice and the beef basil fried rice. It was very expensive and the portions were small. It seemed more like a lunch portion and for the price not worth it. And not only did they skimp on the portions but also on the amount of meat. The flavor was ok but off, and the texture of the rice was sticky, more like sticky rice than fried rice. This is my first time ordering from Riceberry. I ordered takeout and the girl that took my order was very pleasant and helpful. The spot they are located in is quaint. Good and friendly service when I picked up. As for my food, it was good. Not great and could use a bit of improvement. I was not happy with the crab rangoon. I think for the price there should be more than 5 rangoons, If they are going to charge that much for just 5, they should be a bit bigger and stuffed with real crab, not imitation. As my entre , I had the Garlic lovers with crispy chicken. The flavor was great and cooked perfectly. However, there was too many onions and peppers and not enough of the other vegetables. Not worth the price. I get it, new place trying to cut it in Sudbury, but the price will be a huge factor for their survival. If you charge high, then make it more worthy of the price. I have loved the freshness and creativity of their dishes for a few years. However, I did take out last week and was disappointed. I don't know if the chef changed but there were a few noticeable differences. I ordered yellow curry and there was barely any chicken or veggies, mostly a very watery, bland sauce. Considering their food is more expensive than other Thai restaurants, this was a big issue. Also ordered the pad thai. It was very sticky and wet. This is highly unusual for them. Their pad thai is usually moist yet fluffy, it has been the best one around. The jasmine rice was also undercooked, which is not acceptable. I hope this was just a strange occurance for the day. Very nicely spiced, which is a problem at many other Thai restaurants. I ordered it 5 on a scale of 1 to 5 and it came out very spicy. I think many places tone down the spiciness for non-Asian customers. But not these people. Thank you. My wife had shrimp pad thai. Tasty noodles and fresh shrimp.
